“And you think that’s what you should be happy about. You might be feeling mighty since your opinion mattered in this meeting tonight.”
She stepped closer to her. “What’s your problem De_ra?” she asked not understanding why she’s so mean towards her.
“My problem? Can you stop clinging and running around Dee, confusing him when you have nothing to offer him.”
“I have a lot to offer him!” she yelled. But suddenly, she felt guilty because she might be saying the truth.
She chuckled. “What and what exactly?” Diane was mute. She had nothing to say. “See, you’re just a parasite Diane!!”
“And I love her that way, De_ra. ” they heard Dee’s voice. They turned and saw him coming towards them. Diane smiled.
“See? I don’t have to offer him anything but, he’s still gonna love me.” Diane said smiling towards De_ra.
De_ra scoffed and walked out, she reached up to where Dee was and stopped. “I’m not giving up on you.” she said and brushed past him.
Diane smiled at him. She have so much love for that tall young man who was standing at an arm’s length away from her. “Can we go home now?” he asked while she nodded jumping into his skin.
He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead. He held her tightly. “I really love you Dee.”
“I know and I love you more.”

TWO DAYS LATER,
“Mr. Damien. We’re in big trouble.” Veronica announced as he walked into his office that morning.
He settled into his seat. “What’s wrong?”
“Did you see the news?”
“Yes.”
“Yes?? Is that what you have to say? I clearly said it from the first time.”
He sighed. “At least, our company is known…”
“Known? I guess you don’t make use of social media at all. Do you know how many bad reviews we’ve got for this single mistake?”
“It wasn’t a mistake.”
“Hell yeah! It is. And we lost 15 billion dollars! Are you not shaken at all? We…”
“Veronica, you worry too much. We didn’t lose anything. And we’re entering Nigerian market no matter what. At least, I’m closer to that country now. ”
“Well we can’t. MFD’s company is ahead of us already. ”
“MFD?? You mean…Jeff…I mean Mr Jeffrey Campbell’s company?” he stuttered feeling surprised to hear about Jeff’s company.
“Yes sir. They didn’t support any party. They just ventured into Nigerian market. They hired Nigerian celebrities to help model their designer clothes and dresses. This is what we should’ve done!”
“I didn’t want to do it that way.”
“Don’t tell me you agreed to this because Miss Diane said so. We…”
He frowned. “Don’t bring her into this. I made the decision myself.” he interrupted and she kept quiet. She was pacing around. Her phone rang non-stop.
He sighed. “There was an electoral malpractice…”
“We shouldn’t have concerned ourselves about it.”
“We didn’t lose 15 billion dollars. ”
“We lost it! Look…” she showed him her tablet, “The stock prices dropped because of this single mistake of yours. We borrowed money from bank for this single act, how are we gonna pay back how much we owe?”
“We liquidate some of our shares.”
“What?”
“Miss Veronica, I need to think. I need to make a few phone calls. Please leave. ” he said while she walked out of his office angrily. He sighed.
He held his telephone and phoned his General affairs manager. “Hello.”
“What happened?” he asked touching his forehead.
“The election was rigged. He didn’t win. But, we didn’t lose much. From what I see in my chart, apart from the stock prices which was badly affected because of the huge amount of money pulled out of the company, everything is fine. Blogs and broadcasters are after our company. They want to know why we chose to invest in that party in Nigeria. So, I think what we should do right now, is to hold a press conference.”
“Press conference?”
“Yes. Everyone is curious to know why the CEO of DD’s Company had to invest quite a fortune into a presidential candidate. Mr. Peter Obi will love to meet you, that’s what our delegate who went Nigeria said.”
He sighed. “But will things turn out fine?”
“All we need to do right now, is a press conference and put in a good word. We can’t make it so obvious that we did that because we wanted to enter Nigerian market. It will be disadvantageous to our company.”
“Okay. Thanks.” He hung up and dialed his secretary’s number. “Veronica, prepare for a press conference now!” he hung up and relaxed into his seat. Suddenly, his phone started vibrating. He sat up and took the call.
“Hello who’s this?”
“You seem to have forgotten about me.”
He sat up immediately. He recognized that voice. “Jeff.” he smirked. “I can never forget a jerk’s voice in a hurry.”
Jeff laughed from the other end. “Right? How have you been? Can we meet up? There are lot of things we need to catch up on.”
“I don’t think we have anything to catch up on.” Dee replied huskily. “Ah! I heard about your company. That’s a big celebration, don’t you think? Mr. Jerk.”
“I just wish we can meet today.”
“I don’t have anything to say to you.” Dee snapped at him.
“Diane was here. She came to see me.” Jeff said.
Dee frowned immediately. “Where are we meeting? We really have a lot to talk about and take care of.”
“Now you wanna see me because Diane is involved. Aren’t you petty?”
“Let’s meet please.”
Jeff laughed again. “This is getting started.”
Veronica suddenly bursted into the office. “Mr. Damien. We’re in trouble.”
“What?”
“All our shareholders wants a meeting with you right now! There’s fire in the Lipstick Development Room (LDR). All our products are on fire!!!”
He became dumb. His phone nearly fell from his hand. His jaw dropped. “What did you just say?”
“Are you talking to me?” Jeff asked laughing loudly over the phone.
Dee knew who did it. It can only be Jeff. Maybe that’s why he had been quiet all these while. He wanted to hit him hard, probably where he might hurt him the most. “Let’s meet now!!!” he yelled.
