{NIGHT~~DONOVAN’S MANSION}
Danica gently opened the door and peeped through the small space she created, there she saw Donovan who has a bottle of Everclear which is 95% alcohol in his hand, his head buried on the table and he looks like he was deep in thoughts
She stood there staring at him and without saying a thing she turned around only to bump into the maid
“Good evening ma’am,” she greeted with her head down
“It’s Danica,” she corrected in a calm voice
“Am sorry ma’am….”
“Just call me by my name please,” she cut in sharply
the housemaid replied with a nod, Danica stared at her one last time before walking away
“Ma’am…. I mean Danica, Dinner is ready,” the maid added, her head down

“Do you have a name?” she asked instead
“Laura ma’am… I mean Danica,” Laura corrected and Danica nodded before walking away
Ever since they came back Donovan hasn’t said a single word to her and it’s killing her, she planned to tell him about the whole thing but she lost confidence
she went into the master bedroom and looked around, only her things were there

“What have I done?” she buried her face into her palm, tears building up in her eyes instantly, she couldn’t take it, she just ruined someone else life just like that and because of her he was k*lling himself with liquor

{ BACK IN THE LIVING ROOM}
“Donovan no way you’re telling me that you’re not hungry, come on man it’s been three days already and you haven’t eaten my food, are you cheating on my food?” Laura said playfully
“Go away Laura, not now,” he mumbled, picking up the bottle of liquor, he drank directly from it
“She’s pretty,” Laura muttered and he looked at her sharply
“Don’t ever say that again,” Donovan said in an angry tone, staring at her with bloody eyes
She gulped and pulled out a small chair from under the table, she sat on it and face him
“You have been my boss for a very long time and I know……” he didn’t let her finish
“You saw the news Laura, my name is everywhere? What happens to my company? No one believed me, not even a single person, she $©®£wed me,” he said, fighting back tears
Laura placed her right hand on his shoulder while he lowered his head, gritting his teeth angrily, he seen not to know why she chooses him of all people
“I believe you, boss,” she said softly

Donovan looked at her instantly
“You do?” he asked more like he didn’t hear her correctly
“Yeah, even though you might be a playboy but you’re still my boy…. I mean I have worked for you for a very long time and you’re not that type of person, they just underestimate you and they don’t truly know your worth that’s why people find it hard to believe you, you h@të lies and don’t like seeing innocent people get hurt, with all these good qualities people will try to put you down, but it’s okay cos I believe you,” she replied calmly
Donovan didn’t know when a smile appeared on his face, she just gave him what his mother wasn’t able to give him
“I will double your salary for this month,” he said, standing on his feet
Her eyes widened
“No boss, you don’t have to do that,” she replied sharply
“I’m your boss and I will do it unless you want to get fired,” he replied, going over to the door
“Nah, don’t forget to eat dinner, I made your favorite,” she said but he ignored her and walked away
Both families forced him to marry Danica, well it wasn’t actually forced but he wanted to prove his father wrong that he can take care of his responsibilities, and the only way to prove that is by marrying Danica

{SAME NIGHT}
Alex opened her apartment door and went inside, she dropped her purse on the couch removing her jacked instantly, just then she heard the doorbell and went for it
Her jaw dropped at who she saw, Standing there was George, Joy’s younger brother
“George,” she called shocked to see him there

“Hey A.G, are you avoiding me?” he asked gently, with his cute face staring at her with those puppy eyes
“Nah, no way, you’re my very own buddy,” she replied and shifted away from the door
He came in and she started going inside
“Does your sister know that you’re here? Is she the one that sends you over?” Alex stopped by her bedroom doorstep and asked
He followed her but also stopped when she did
“I wanna change, Do you mind giving me some privacy?” she said more like a question
George nodded and she roughed his hair with a smiled
Shortly after she came out wearing a short and a singlet
“I came to give you this cos I thought it might be helpful,” he said immediately after he saw her coming out
She walked over to him and took it
“Is joy back?” she asked staring at the file in her hand
“No,” he muttered
“What’s this? A disciplinary file, what!!!! did you get this from the D.A’s office?” she asked staring strangely at him
He looked down without saying a word
“George, I can’t read this, you don’t go around taking people’s stuff…”
“I Didn’t steal it I promise,” he cut in sharply

“So, how did you get it?” she asked still not convinced enough
“I know about Nate and I know that you people want to put him away and you wanted solid evidence that’s why I asked my friend who works with the D.A to get it for me,” he replied calmly
“I can’t read it, it’s against the law…..”
“Section 203, as far as you didn’t ask me to get it, it’s not illegal,” he cut in sharply, picking on his nails
“George……”
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to help you, please don’t be mad,” he said with a pout, looking up at her George lowered his head
Alex exhaled and went closer, he gently lift his head to see her standing right in front of him, so close that he could feel her breath on his face
She pulled him into a hug before placing a soft K!SS on his hair
“Promise me you won’t do something like this again,” Alex said stroking his hair gently
“I promise,” he replied and she pulled away from the hug, a light smile on her face
“Hmm… What are you doing here George?” Joy’s voice came from behind
They both turned to see her standing by the door, she took a few steps forward and stopped right in front of them
Without saying a word George walked out from the door and Joy narrowed her gaze, staring at Alex with that look that says’s “explain yourself,”
“What!!! is that your boss?” Alex asked staring at the blue jeep that just speeds off
“He offered to drive me home since I worked myself out, treating a stupid boy,” Joy replied, taking an apple from the table in her parlor
“Oh,” Alex exclaimed
“Is my brother on your to-do list?” Joy suddenly asked, taking a big bit from her apple
“Are you high?” Alex asked, she seem to be pissed off
“Just asking cos you know he has autism and savant syndrome, has never touched him since he turned five but funny enough I saw you rough his hair,” joy replied simply
“Are you jealous or looking out for your brother?” Alex asked, walking over to her bedroom door
Joy stood up and followed her, getting to the doorstep Alex made to open the door but joy held her hand, she turned and looked at her
“He’s too little to experience heartbreak that’s all am saying, you know his condition, he will feel depressed, and broken, I don’t want him to turn suicidal, or harm himself, he can’t take it if you do to him what you do to all those men,” Joy added gently
Alex gently took her hand from her
“Your brother is old enough to take care of himself, he is 13 right?” Alex said, making joy to chuckle softly
“Nah, he just turned 20 three days ago,” she corrected and Alex raised her brows
“Oh, he’s a man already, well he’s like a brother to me nothing else, happy now?” Alex said and joy nodded
“he won’t survive heartbreak I just hope one day he will be able to let a girl touch him, always using hand gloves if he wants to touch me or mom, no hugs, just handshakes, isn’t it funny?” Joy said laughing
Alex just shrugged
“What can I say,” she muttered
“About the wedding,” Joy suddenly shouted
