EPISODE 3&4

[Don Ghost’s Suite]

Charlotte caught sight of her mother in the dining room, cleaning, and rushed toward her.

“Mother” she called.

Elizabeth looked up with her gorgeous, pretty, angelic smile. Her beauty was absolutely underestimated; one look at her face would proof that she’s an angel trapped in a hellhole.

“Princess” she answered. “You’re here.”

“Yes, Mother” Charlotte said. “Where’s Ghost?”she asked.

Elizabeth raised her eyebrows. “What happened?”

“She’s here” Charlotte said.

Elizabeth’s eyes widened. “Your friend?” she asked.

“Of course, Mother.” Charlotte hit her forehead.

Elizabeth swallowed hard. “But I told you not to bring her here, Charlotte. And you didn’t even inform your father about it!”

“You really think that husband of yours is going to allow me to bring her?” Charlotte snapped.

“You think he would listen to me when I’m not his favorite son—Oliver? You must be joking, Mother.”

“And you think he would listen now or allow you?” Elizabeth replied. “That poor girl’s life would be in danger, Charlotte.”

Charlotte sighed. “Mother, what else can I do? My friend needs my help.”

“There are many other ways to help her, Charlotte, other than bringing her here! That girl doesn’t belong in this world—I told you that” Elizabeth uttered.

“But she can manage, Mother” Charlotte ran her hands through her hair in frustration.

“How? How, Charlotte?” Elizabeth argued.

“Everyone here feels nothing for each other, including you! Everyone is heartless, and you think she would manage?” Her voice raised a bit.

“You managed, and so she will learn to manage too!” Charlotte said.

Elizabeth sighed pissed off, and took a deep breath to calm herself.

She moved closer to Charlotte, and held her shoulders, their eyes pierced.

“She can’t, dear. I managed because I had no choice. Your father chose me, and I had no escape. But this girl still has a choice, my dear. Please try to understand what I’m saying” she said gently.

Charlotte swelled with frustration but said nothing.

Her mother might be right. Maybe she was wrong. She should have helped with funds instead of bringing her here.

Anna is too naïve and calm to live in a place like this. She should have think it through.

Her friend is too innocent for this dark world.

“Fine, Mother” she sighed.

Elizabeth’s face brightened. She can’t accept another innocent soul being dragged into this place again. She wouldn’t.

“Thank you, Princess” she said, stroking Charlotte’s face.

Charlotte blinked. “Mother, why do you seem so interested in this matter? You don’t even know my friend yet.”

“Silly! I just have a good feeling she’s a good person” Elizabeth muttered.

Charlotte chuckled and nodded. “I’ll take her back. She’ll be heartbroken, though—I promised her she can stay with me.” She sighed sadly.

“Don’t worry” Elizabeth said. “She’ll understand and know you’re doing what’s best for her.”

Charlotte nodded.

“Where is she now?” Elizabeth asked.

“Probably in the garden or at the playground” Charlotte replied.

“I just hope she hasn’t come across anyone yet” Elizabeth said worriedly.

“Calm down, Mommy. She’ll be fine. I’m sending her back anyway—you don’t have to worry” Charlotte assured her.

“Okay” Elizabeth nodded.

“If you need my help with anything, let me know” she added.

Charlotte gave her dark smile before walking away.

Elizabeth sat down and brought her nails to her mouth, clutching her chest.

“I hope the poor girl is safe. Dear Lord, please protect her and make sure she returns home safely” she prayed, biting her nails.

Don Ghost must not find out about her—he must not. Or the poor girl would be in grave danger.

Including her children too… especially Oliver. He must not find out about her.

[Back In The Garden]

Annabelle’s eyes widened in shock, and she froze.

“Jesus… Christ…” she stuttered, taking a step back.

Oliver’s eyes remained on her, still holding no expression.

Goodness! What kind of human being is he? With all the terrible things she had said about him, he should have shown something—anger, annoyance, hurt, anything at all.

But the man in front of her showed none.

How is anyone supposed to know what was on his mind when he gave no reaction?

No. She had to run for her life and never set eyes on him again.

She swallowed hard, fear coursing through her system. Her palms grew sweaty, her body almost trembling.

“I…” she opened her mouth to speak but couldn’t find the right words for this mysterious man in front of her, whose eyes were fixed on her.

“I—I’m sorry… I’m… sorry…”

That was all Annabelle could stutter as she stepped backward, clutching her bag, then she turned and ran.

Oliver remained nonchalant, his expression unreadable as usual, as he watched her go.

Annabelle ran like a mad girl, her breath uneven, her bag bouncing behind her, until she collided with someone who held her tightly by the waist.

Her bag fell to the ground, and her hands landed on the person’s chest, feeling the steady heartbeat beneath.

But what shocked her was the scent.

The perfume on him was the same as the man she had just run from.

She recognized it—correctly.

Slowly, she looked up, her heart still racing.

Her eyes met his, but his gaze felt different… yet it was the same person she had just ran from.

Her eyes widened in a way they never had before—like running from death straight into a more painful one.

Her eyes shut tightly.

“Poor me, pretty girl… I’m so dead”

She fainted on his hard chest.

His eyes widened.

Which meant—he wasn’t Oliver.

Oliver never showed expression.

But Caspian always does.
