Violet eyes suddenly shot opened, and she scanned her surroundings confused on why she was along a valley. She couldn’t remember how she got there or why she was there, she shoved all those thoughts away and started searching for her phone hoping to call her husband to come and pick her up when she remembered how he cheated on her.

FLASHBACK***
*
Violet arrived home after a stressful business trip. She was supposed to spend a week there, but she wrapped up in three days because of her husband’s birthday, and she managed to make it his birthday. She didn’t tell him about the changes in her schedule, intending to surprise him.
She pulled over at the parking lot, and saw her best friend’s car there and a smile spread across her face glad that her best friend there to accompany her husband as usual. Her best friend was always there whenever her job deprived her of the chance to be with her husband.
She entered the living room and met everywhere messy, a female shoe carelessly thrown on the couch, a female bag, clothes, and her husband’s boxers. She blinked her lashes to be able to see properly, the loud music playing seems to be affecting her vision, so she angrily turned it off and she started hearing loud móans. She traced the sounds upstairs , convincing herself that her sister brought a man over, hoping the image she was imagining was false, but it leads her to the master bedroom. She slammed the door open to see her husband, and best friend on her bed together.
She stared at them speechlessly as her mouth fell too heavy to open, she tried to scream at them but no words escaped f her mouth, but tears, tears flowed freely down her face. She have known her husband for fifteen years, they dated for that long because her parents were against thier relationship, unfortunately, her parents passed away from an accident a year ago, so they got married later on, and they’ve been married for six months. And as for her best friend, she has known her all her life. They literally grew up together.
“Ahhh….” she lamented in tears, and they both froze to look at hwr.
“Violent!” he husband called already terrified, and her best friend dappled the blanket around her body.
“How could you? The both of you… you… you…”
“Violet, it’s not what you think,” her husband said, already panicking.
“Maxwell, do you think she will believe whatever we tell her? Violet isn’t gullible. I have known her all my life,” her best friend said, feeling nonchalant.
“You’ve known her for that long… so how could you betray me like this?”
“Because I hate you! Maxwell has always been mine! He was mine from the start! We only played you!”
“Shut up, Ella! What are you saying?!” Maxwell snapped.
“That’s enough. I don’t care about how you feel about me. But to me, Ella, you are my friend that betrayed me, and you, Max, you committed adultery, by cheating on me with my best friend. I want the both of you out of my life! I don’t ever want to see you again,” with that, she turned to leave but Maxwell held her hand pleading on his knees.
“Violet, please don’t do this to me “
“You are nothing without me, Max. I made you, and I’m going to crush you!” she threatened, and pushed him away.
“How can you say that to a man you dated for 15 years?!” Ella shouted, walking closer to her.
“I have nothing to say to you, Ella Seeing how shameless you are to sloop this low like the wh0re you are!”she fired back, and Bella slapped her, she returned the slap in two folds, and Ella hit a bottle lying around on her head, sending her to the floor.
“What have you done?!” Maxwell shouted, rushing to her.
“Let her dle! We are going to get rid of her anyways,”
“Not today! Not now! She hasn’t singed everything to me. If she dles now, Ivy will be fhe to get everything!”
She was lying unconscious and she heard them argue over her d£ath until she passed out completely.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
Violet looked around and chuckled softly in disbelief.
“So they thought they kllled me, and dumped me here,” she grumbled between clenched teeth. “You messed with the wrong woman! I’ll crush you… I’ll make you plead for mercy…”
She tried to stop a taxi, but none stopped until she found her way home.
She arrived home and barged inside when she saw Ella’s car there again, she stormed into the living room and saw the both of them making out on the couch.
“Maxwell, we should go now… we can’t arrive late. Remember, she was my best friend and your wife,” Ella said, and Maxwell kissed her neck with tender warmth, earning a delicate moan from her.
“The nerve of you two!” she shouted, but they paid no attention to her.
“We should really go, Maxwell,” Ella said trying to catch her breath as his lips trailed softly through her skin
Violent couldn’t watch them anymore, they paid no attention to her so she went to pull Ella’s hair, but her hand passed through the hair.
“What? What’s going on?” she grumbled, and tried to slap Maxwell, but her hands went through again. “What’s going on? What’s wrong with me?” she screamed. “Max, Ella,” she called, but they completely ignored her.
Maxwell and Ella adjusted their dress properly, and left the house totally ignoring her.
“What’s gotten into them? How can they ignore me like that?” she thought, and looked at her hands. “And what’s wrong with these? Why did it went through them? Why couldn’t I pull them? Are they immoral or something?”
She ran after them, and entered the car after them wondering why they were acting up.
She talked, yelled, tried to hit them but nothing worked until they pulled over at a hospital.
She trailed after them cursing at them as they headed to a funeral hall, and her secretary went to welcome them.
“Yes. Thank God. Mr. Josh is here. Mr. Josh, what’s going on?” she ran to Mr. Josh who ignored her and went to Maxwell.
“Mr. Martins, my condolences,” Mr. Josh said, and Maxwell started sniffing in.
“This is still unbelievable, I refuse to accept that my best friend is d£ad!” Ella broke down in tears. “Violet…” she cried.
“What’s going on? Why can’t they see me? Why are they saying that?” she shuddered, already getting the worst message.
“That’s because you are a ghost, you are d£ad,” she heard someone say from behind, and she turned fo see an elderly man.
“Y-You can see me… but why can’t they?”
“Because I’m a ghost too. My funeral is being held in the other hall, and yours is holding here,” the man said, and she realized that the man was right.
“No, no, no! I can’t be a ghost! I refuse to be a ghost!” she screamed, and the man shook his head, clicking his teeth in pity before leaving.
She entered the hall, and saw her younger sister seated on the floor in tears.
“Ivy,” she called, and went to her.
“Ivy,” Ella called, and went to embrace Ivy.
“Don’t touch my sister!” Violet shouted, and tried to pull her away but it was to no avail.
“Ella, what really happened? Mr. Josh didn’t give me the details when he picked me up from the airport. What really happened to my sister? My sister can’t dle! She can’t dle!” she wailed, and Ella embraced her in tears.
“Ivy, I’m sorry. I wish I could bring back my best friend as well,”
“Miss Blake really cared for Miss Holt a lot,” a guest said.
“Yes. They are childhood best friends, even when the Blakes family went bankrupt years ago, Miss Holt refused to let Miss Blake go to the countryside with her family, she insisted that they live together even though her parents were against it,” another guest added, and Violet remembered how she almost fought with her parents to allow Ella move in with them.

FLASHBACK to when Violet was a teenager***
*
The Blakes family went bankrupt when Ella was a teenager, so they all moved to the countryside, but Violet refused to be separated from Ella so she went to her parents to plead with them to allow Ella move in.
“Violet, no!” her mother yelled.
“Mum, we are in our final year in high school, if she goes to the countryside, it will be difficult for her to get into college here,”
“Violet, we don’t care. I already told you that our family has nothing to do with the Blake anymore, the earlier you accept it, the better!” her father shouted.
“Then I’ll leave,”
“What?” her parents chorused.
“If you don’t want Ella here, then you don’t want me here either. I’ll leave, I’ll follow Ella to the countryside!” she shouted, and ran to her room.
After much persuasion, her parents eventually gave in, and Ella moved in with them.
“Violet, I will make your parents uncomfortable if I live here,” Ella said.
“Don’t look at them, only look at me. The moment they ask you to move out, we will both leave together,”
“Why are you doing all this for me? I don’t think I deserve it,”
“Because you are my best friend, and you deserve all and more. I know you could do the same for me,”
“Of course, because you are my best friend too,” Ella said, and she embraced her.
*
They both went to the dinning hall to eat, but the chef only served the table for four— Violet, her parents, and Ivy.
“What of Ella’s food?” Violet asked.
“We agreed on letting her live here, we never said we would dine together like a family,” her mother said.
“It’s fine, Violet, I can order in,” Ella said, and turned to leave.
“It’s not fine! If Ella doesn’t join us, then I’m not eating either!” she blurted, and her parents shot her a glare.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
Violet couldn’t bear it anymore, she watched everything helplessly until the ceremony was over.
They proceeded to her house later, and her lawyer started the discussion of the Holt’s property. Maxwell, Ella, Ivy and Mr. Josh all sat together with the lawyer.
“Ms. Holt dled too early, and she didn’t leave a will, but Miss Holt is her next of kin, and the only one left in the Holts’ family, so legally, all the Holts’ property, will be transferred to Miss Holt,” the lawyer said, and Maxwell cleared his throat.
“Attorney, my wife sudden passing was also a misfortune to me but I believe it’s the wili of God. Before she passed away, she gave this to me,” he said, and gave the attorney a signed statement to transfer all her asset to him.
“What? When did I sign this?” Violet shouted. “It’s fake, it’s fabricated! Don’t believe it!” she shouted.
The lawyer looked at the document for a while, and everything was accurate, it didn’t seem fabricated.
“Mr. Martins, you mean to say Ms. Holt…” the lawyer said in confusion.
“Do you have any objections? We all know how much Violet loves her husband, so leaving everything to him shouldn’t be a surprise. The signed agreement is right there,” Ella said.
“Shut your mouth! There is no way I could sign that. Never!” Violet shouted. “Mr. Josh, do something. We can’t let that fraud take everything from Ivy,” she cried.
“Mr. Josh, are you aware of this?” the lawyer asked.
“Good. This is your end, Maxwell. You wili explain how I signed that to you,” Violet said.
“I have worked with the Holt’s family for years, so I know them better than anyone else. I am not just a secretary to Ms. Holt, I was also her advisor,” Mr. Josh stated.
“Exactly! You were like a father to me, so you know better than anymore that I can’t make such mistake,” Violet said.
“Ms. Holy consulted me before making that decision…”
“What? What is he saying?” Violet grumbled.
“I was totally against it at first, but she seemed determined. So I prepared those documents for her,”
“What? Mr. Josh, when I did ever discussed that with you? How could you be on same side with them?”
“You should have consulted me to prepare the documents. Just like you, Mr. Josh, I have also worked with the Holts’ family for years, and I’m the head of the legal team in Holts’ enterprise. I should have prepared this instead, you shouldn’t have consulted any external counsel to assure it credibility,”
“Mr. Josh… how could you?” Violet said, her voice trembling with disbelief.
“Ms. Holy was fully aware that you would decline, and she didn’t want to attract attention over of it. She prepared it for Mr. Martins as his birthday present,” Mr. Josh remarked.
“What’s all these about? Aren’t you a lawyer, don’t you believe in evidence? Isn’t that what you are holding? You also believe in witnesses, and Mr. Josh just clarified everything. She is my best friend, so I know her better than anyone. She always tells me everything, she told me about intentions of transferring all her asset to Maxwell! Now, we have two witnesses,”
“Ella, stop that. I have no intention of engulfing anyone, I was just a lowly person who got lucky to be loved by… by my wife…” Maxwell shuddered in tears. “I don’t know why Violet entrust me with this, but I believe this is her way of asking me to take good care of Ivy. She is my only family now, I have no one…” he cried.
“We all know this is hard on you, Maxwell,” Ella said, patting his back.
“Such amazing act. I give you that,” Violet grumbled, with clenched fist.
“Miss Holt…” the lawyer called, and Ivy who has been quiet with head bowed looked up with teary eyes.
“Oh… Ivy…” Ella cried, and embraced her till she stopped crying.
“I have nothing to say. Maxwell, is the closet family I have, and I was never interested in managing the family’s business, so I understand why my sister entrusted everything to him,” Ivy said.
“No, Ivy. No, there is no way I’d entrust everything to him. Nooooooo….” Violet wailed.
A sly grin spread across Maxwell’s face, but he managed to compose himself.
“Ivy, your sister wants you to focus on your dream of becoming a pianist, and you should do just that. I will always support you,” Maxwell assured, and Ivy nodded in tears.
“Well… since it’s all settled, I’ll take my leave. Once again, my condolences,” having said that, the lawyer left, and Ella smirked.
*
Violet wandered around in the house in pain, she watched Ella and Maxwell celebrate thier success , and her sister tearing up.
She wandered around invisible to everyone, and the day passed.
Ella and Maxwell were enjoying a movie together in the living room the following day, and the romantic scene on-screen slurred the moment between them. Things were getting a bit too intimate when Ivy walked in, stunned by the sight.
“What’s going on here?!” she shouted, and they both looked at her.
“Are you blind? You aren’t a child, so you should know that we are making out. Are you a virgin?” Ella blurted.
“Making out… you traitor! How could you do this to my sister?”
“Traitors? That’s too harsh! Your sister is d£ad, so what warrant such insolence?” Ella yelled, and threw a glass cup at her, but she was quick to dodge it.
“Ivy… you cr@zy bltch! You won’t get away with this!” Violet yelled.
“Now, I see. Now I can see your true colors. You won’t get away with this. I’ll make sure you pay for deceiving my sister…”
“There is nothing you can do, bltch! Your sister is gone, and all of the Holts’ assets is out now! You are nothing!”
“How could you…” Ivy shuddered in tears.
“Clean that up, and leave. Stop distracting us,” Ella said, and wrapped her hands around Maxwell’s shoulder.
“You are going to pay for this!”
“Before you make us pay, clean that MESS!”
“Madam, I’ll do it,” the maid who joined them said.
“NO! Ivy will be the one to do it. You are fired! Go tell that to the others, you are all fired! Ivy will be the one to do all the chores now, that’s enough to pay for letting you live here for free,”
“You traitor!” Ivy lashed.
“Why?” Ella said, walking closer to her. “You won’t do it?” she asked, and dragged her down by her hair.
“Arggh… you are hurting me,”
“You bltch! You won’t get away with this,” Violet cried.
“You won’t still do it?”
“I… fine, I’ll do it. Let me go,” she cried.
“Then start!”
“If you are going to clean it, go get a brush and get it done. Stop staring things up,” Maxwell interfered.
“No, she will use her hands,”
“What?” They all shouted (Violet, Maxwell, and Ivy)
“Those precious hands that you cherish so much, you’ll clean the glass with them,” Ella said, and pressed Ivy’s hands on the broken glasses.
“Nooooo…” Violet, and Ivy cried.
“You cr@zy bltch, get your hands off her!” Violet cried, hitting Ella but her hands keeps passing through.
*
Violet helpless watched her sister suffered immensely, and she could do nothing to save her. The same event repeats itself for days, weeks, and going to months, but she was just an helpless invisible creature.
The pain of being invisible hurts more than being betrayed.
Devastated and at loss, she wandered around the city in pain.
She always pass through everyone, so she didn’t bother to avoid anyone until she bumped into him. It was different this time, she didn’t pass through him like others, she bumped into him, Charles Hewlett. She felt it, and he felt it too. She gasped, looking at him
“You… you are a ghost…” he slurred, wobbling drunkly on his feet
“Oh, my! You can see me!” she exclaimed in disbelief, and he threw up on her.
“Grosss…” she screamed.
