Charles opened his eyes and instantly felt dizzy so he shut it back to relax. After a while, he opened his eyes again and was startled to see a strange woman in his room. He could instantly tell that she wasn’t human, so he tried to recall how she followed him home, and the memories of the other night’s event came back.
“Gosh, I f¥cked up,” he grumbled, before sitting up.
“Hey, you are awake. I have been waiting for hours,” she said, rushing toward him but he ignored her.
“Why are you ignoring me? You say me yesterday, so why are you acting like you can’t see me now?”
“Gosh, I must have drank a lot yesterday. I’m feeling dizzy,” he said, and she looked at him.
“Was it the alcohol? Did he see me because he was drunk?” she thought sadly.
“I need something to sober up,” he muttered, and went to prepare coffee.
“I rather go for hangover drinks than coffee,” she said.
“Can he really not see me? I guess he can’t,”
“The coffee is good. Now my head is clear,”
“But he said I was a ghost, and I could even feel him. I should try to touch him,” she said, and intend to touch him but he got up immediately.
“I should go freshen up,”
“Is he trying to avoid me?” she muttered, walking closer to him but he hurried to the bathroom.
“Is he pretending not to see me?” she thought, and sat in his room waiting for him to return.
He spent almost an hour in the bathroom before coming out, and she appeared in front of him. He ignored her and returned to the bathroom.
“Oh, I should dry my hair,” he said, and she exhaled heavily.
He managed to catch his breath in the bathroom, wondering why she is so persistent. His attempt to avoid her will surely fail if she keeps catching him off guard. He only wish she could just leave quietly.
“She should have been gone by now,” he muttered, and spun around, startled to see her by the door away.
“No, I’m still here,” she muttered, walking closer to him. “I know you can see me, so why are you feigning ignorance?”
“Gosh, why am I still feeling dizzy,” he muttered, and wanted to remove his towel.
She closed her eyes immediacy, and went out.
“At least she isn’t a pervert,” he thought.
“What do I do? What if she refuse to leave?” he grumbled.
“Then I should just do it my way,” he muttered in determination.
He stepped out of the bathroom, and she touched him immediately.
“Yes, I felt it!” she shouted, and he shot her a glare.
“I have been caught,” he thought, glaring at her.
“You are really see me,” she muttered, and he scoffed.
“So what? What if I can see you?” he blurted, and her eyes brightened up immediately.
“Really ? Wow! Finally! I’m so excited,”
“Excited? Are you going to send me to your family? Tell me to render some messages to your husband, tell your kids that mummy is here?! I had enough of you ghosts! Don’t you get the message? I acted like I can’t see you so you should have just left! Even humans aren’t this persistent! Why are you ghosts so different?”
“We are not being persistent! I don’t know about the others you have encountered, but do you know how hopeful I’m seeing that a human can see me?”
“Hopeful? Why? Do you want me to help you get revenge for an unfair d£ath? Do you want me to please your loved ones? Do you want me to find your missing body?! I had enough of those stories! You are a ghost, you are d£ad, you shouldn’t roam around the human world, and leave me be,”
“You must’ve encountered a lot of vengeful ghosts,”
“I don’t care about any of your stories! I refuse to show a sympathy. So just go!”
“I must’ve approached you wrongly, I’m sorry for startling you. Please… don’t be like this. Don’t ask me to leave,” she cried, trying to hold him but he count his steps away from her.
“You are d£ad, and it’s your fate. Let the living be, let them also suffer thier fate!”
“Fate? I don’t believe in such nonsense. I thought it was fate when I met my husband until few months ago,”
“Your husband will suffer the karma for anything he did to you, I’m not the one to set things right, I don’t work with karma. I don’t get involved with others. Do you even know me?”
“My sister, my poor sister is suffering because I all of this. My sister is innocent…”
“It’s her fate! If you won’t leave the easy way, then I believe I’ll have to use hard way!” he blurted, and took his phone.
“No body can see me, only you can. And I’m not going to leave until you listen to me! Or, do you know of others who can see me?”
📞*Mr. Feng, please prepare it,*
📞*I don’t know how to explain this, but there is a really persistent one here. I let my guards down last night,* with that, he ended the call.
“Who is that? Can he see me?”
“If he could see you, then my life won’t be this messy!”
“Then what is he going to do? He can’t even see me,”
“Do you think you have the upper-hand just because you are invisible to others?”
“I’m not going to harm you, just listen to me,”
“Your presence alone is harm to me!”
“Why are you so uptight? You don’t even want to hear me out,”
“Why should I? Because I’m your hope? You think I’ll change my mind if I hear your sob story?”
“Have you ever been betrayed by anyone before?”
“I won’t let anyone betray me, I’m always the traitor! Will that do? You see… I’m the same as that scumbag who betrayed you. So just leave me alone!”
“If you have someone close to you that you want to protect, then you should be able to understand how I’m feeling,”
“Too bad, I don’t. I only have myself! And to protect myself, I have to avoid the likes of you!” he snapped.
“I’m not even trying to harm you! It’s fine if you don’t want to help me, but at least hear me out!”
“Since it’s fine, then buzz off! I’m not going to help you even if I hear your stories because I’m not a hero. I have always been the villain, I’m not different from whoever hurt and betrayed you. I’ll never help you, so BUZZ OFF! Gosh, what’s taking him so long?”
“Then I won’t leave you either. I’m going to torment you forever!”
“You won’t exist forever. You might be a ghost, but you are not an immoral, you will vanish into thin air eventually,”
“Really?”
“Gosh! Why am I even telling you this? The point is, I’m not going to help you. And you think you can torment me, that’s so much talk because I’m the one who can decide that,”
He heard a knock on the door and hurried to get it thinking it was Mr. Feng, but it was a maid.
“Good morning, sir,”
“Buzz off! And never dare to knock again!” he lashed, scaring the maid away.
He turned around, and let out a sigh after seeing her in tears.
“You said I’m going to disappear eventually, so I can’t just leave. If I’m going to fade away into thin air, then I should at least leave with no regrets,”
“Everyone has regrets, even the living… and the d£ad. You can’t live with no regrets,”
“But I can set things right,”
He heard another knock on the door, and he looked at her.
“I don’t think you have the time for that,” having said that, he went to get the door and returned with a burning coal.
“What’s that?”
“What does it looks like,”
“Do you want to burn me with the fire?”
“I don’t think that can work. Should we give it a try?”
“Are you insane?”
“Yeah… I’d be insane if I give that a try, so let me go for what works,” with that, he went to his cabinet, searching for something.
“What are you looking for?”
“Something that could get you out of my sight,” he said, and took a small bottle containing some substance.
“What’s that?” she asked in fear.
He smirked ignoring her questions, and pour a quantity amount of the substance inside the burning coal, filling the air with awful energy.
“What’s that?” she shouted, choking on the smell, and her entire body started to itch.
“If you inhale this for two minutes longer, your body will burn away. And if I throw the substance at you directly, that’s even more effective. But why waste it? When I can encounter a persistent one like you again,” he said.
Her eyes suddenly turned red, and her body hurting. She looked at her fingers that are starting to melt away in dear.
“Leave! Or you dle! What am I saying, you are already d£ad,”
“Nooooooo…” she cried, before she vanished.
“Gosh, that was one hard one,” he grumbled, and started coughing as well, affected by the smoke.
“I really hate this,” he muttered, and returned to the bathroom.
**
He went to the main dinning hall later, and met his entire family gathered there —his father, his stepmother, and stepbrother. Just the perfect sight he needed to make his day more hectic.
“Must you always prove superior?” his father snapped.
“If there is anyone superior here, then that’s you. You are the chairman, the only superior person here,” he replied, chuckling softly.
“The nerve of you!” his father shouted, and his stepmother tried to calm him down.
“Stop buffing and sit,” his stepbrother muttered.
“I suddenly lose my appetite,” he said, and intend to leave.
“Stop right there!” his father shouted.
“Why should I?”
“You know it’s mandatory for us to all have breakfast together on Sundays, so we’ve been waiting for you, we sent someone to fetch you,” his brother said.
“We?” he muttered, and chuckled.
“Quit the crap, and sit!” his stepbrother blurted.
“Why? “we” Does that make us look like a reunited family?” he blurted. “Even if you group us together, and we gather here to have breakfast every Sunday, or everyday, it didn’t make us a family, because we aren’t one!” with that, he stormed out.
“Hey! Stop right there! You rascal!” his father shouted after him.
*
He went to the parking lot, and met Mr. Feng there waiting for him.
“Did you cause troubles again?” Mr. Feng inquired.
“The sight of them always disgust me. Pretending to be a family when they aren’t,”
“To me, you are the only one not part of that family,”
“Hey! Are you taking their side?”
“I dare not. And… about your request earlier,”
“I took care of that. And I almost choked d£ath as well!”
“How did the ghost followed you? It’s been a while,”
“Yeah, I perfectly ignored them all expect her because I was drunk and I screwed up. Hey! It’s all your fault! You should have came to fetch me early,”
“All your mistakes are my fault, that’s what I’m being paid for,”
“There you go again,”
“Are you sure she won’t return? I mean… did she fade away,”
“Nah… she flee, and I hope she disappears forever,”
“You should use a talisman. You are always invisible to those creatures when you have that,”
“No! Never! I refuse! Did you remember what happened the last time I was with one?”

FLASHBACK to when Charles was in middle-school ***
*
Charles was on his way to class when a bully intentionally made him miss his step, and he fell, followed laughters
“Hey, are you ok?” the head of the gully teased.
“I’m fine. It was my fault, I’m sorry,” he muttered, and carried his bag to leave.
“Hey! We aren’t done talking yet. And what’s in that bag that you treasure so much?” the bully said, and dragged his bag.
“No, not my bag!” he shouted, and the others held him down.
The head of the bully emptied his bag on the floor, and they saw the talisman.
“What’s this?”
“No, don’t touch it!” he cried.
“I heard you are possessed, so it was true. That’s why you have this. What if I throw it out?”
“No, please don’t,” he cried.
The bully trashed his bag away, and a ghost who has been wandering around saw him.
“Those bullies wili never stop. I really wish I could help you,” the ghost girl said, walking closer to him, scaring him even more.
“No, stay away from me. Don’t come any closer,” he cried, and the bullies looked at him.
“Hey! This isn’t fun anymore, so GET LOST!”the head of the bully said.
“He isnt going to hurt you again, so why are you scared?” the ghost said.
“Nooooo… stay away,” he screamed in agony as the ghost walks closer to him.
“What? Was it me? You can see me?” the ghost exclaimed in bewilderment.
“I don’t want to see you,” he cried.
“What’s he saying?” those around said.
“Stay away from me,” he cried harder.
“Amazing! I can even feel you,” the ghost said, touching him.
“Get your hands off me,” he cried.
“I think he is truly possessed,”

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
Charles and Mr. Feng nodded as they both remembered that moment.
“Never! I refuse to experience that again,”
“But you are grown up now. And no one dares to bully you,”
“Still NO! If you have time for all of these, you should have just get married and stop pestering me,”
“I would have. But I vowed to devote myself to the Harrison’s , so I’ll always be by your side,”
“What if I arrange a blind date for you?”
“Really? You will?”
“I thought you wanted to be by my side. Look at you excited over a blind date. Buzz off!”
“Of course, I’ll be by your side,”
“And the blind date?”
“I’ll drag you along, by your side,”
“Hey! Creepy. Hand me the keys,”
“Where to?”
“A blind date,” he winked before leaving.
“Isn’t that my blind date?” Mr. Feng grumbled.

**
Charles returned home drunk later at night, Mr. Feng helped him to his room before leaving, and he turned on his bed startled to see the ghost again.
“You… again!”
“I thought about it. Since you said I will still fade away anyways, it’s best I give it my all. I don’t care if you use that harmful energy to send me away, I won’t give you. You are my only hope, please help me,”
“Really? You won’t give up? Then you’re making a really bad decision,” he muttered, and reached out for the remaining substance.
