Days later …

Paulina managed to convince Sage to sign the pact, telling him about the tragic passing of her mother, and lied to him that the Stanford’s adopted her. Sage gave in eventually, and signed the pact letting it all go since Alicia already made an effort to clarify things.

Paulina, Sage, and Sophia became close friends eventually forming a unique trio. A close friendship between students of different classes was news in Holland High School. They hang out together on the cafeteria rooftop and mostly have lunch at the regular students cafeteria together.

Micheal in the other hand remained on a low, after the issue was resolved, he couldn’t bring himself to face Paulina again, he could only watch her from afar, wishing he wasn’t a c0ward. Thankfully, his friends didn’t ask him any questions concerning it, although, Austin wanted to ask, but Stanley was always fast in changing the topic, and warned Austin against it behind his back.

Everything might have been sorted, but he still wish he could make it up to Paulina, and he kept thinking about the best way to make it up to her.

Ava has also been on a low, gnoring Paulina existence after her mother threatened her with her credit cards. She decided to lay low till everyone forget about the resolved issues before taking another move. She stopped driving to school with Paulina, but her presence still bother her. The thoughts of Paulina taking everything away from her someday was really overwhelming.
*
Paulina, Sage, and Sophia planned to hangout together after school, when school dismissed they all met at the parking lot about to enter Sage’s car when Alicia approached them.

Ever since Alicia made that announcement, her fiends became distant from her. Ava wanted Rae out of their friendship after that party, but Rae was pardoned due to the ruckus that came up, and her suspension that followed. So instead of Rae, Alicia was kicked out. She was denied access to their suite, and they removed her from their private group chat while Lia always find any opportunity to remind her of how disgusting she was to kiss a bottom class student and how she backstabbed them. School has been overwhelming for her and she mostly skip classes at times and wish she could skip school as well. Sage have been hovering around Paulina and Sophia, he didn’t even pay any attention to her which made her feel even more pathetic. He was her first friend in kindergarten, the first stranger she ever had a conversation with. They resumed to kindergarten school the same day, and were seat mates which made them friends gradually.
.
“Hi, Sage.” She waved, and he looked at her.

“Wassup?” He asked.

“My driver called, my car broke down on his way here, it’s gonna take a while for him to return with another car. So, do you care to give me a ride?”

“I’ll get a ride for you.” He said.

“You can’t give me a ride?” She asked in disappointment.

“I’m sorry, I’ve plans with my friends.” Sage said, and she glared at Paulina and Sophia.

“Them?” She blurted.

“It’s fine, Sage. You give her a ride, we can always hangout some other day.” Paulina said.

“No, it’s not fine. This will be our first hangout together.” Sophia blurted.

“Sophie…”. Paulina muttered.

“What?” Sophia whispered glaring at her.

“Alicia, I’m sorry. But if you don’t mind, you could hang out with us.” He said, and their eyes widened.

“With them?” Alicia shouted.
*
They all went to an arcade and engaged in different games together competing against each other, and to Alicia surprise, she had fun hanging out with them.

They left there later and Sophia insisted they help her create a video to post on social media, so Sage pulled over at an empty parking space.

“What? Are you seriously gonna do that challenge here?” Alicia complained.

“Yeah, this place is wide enough. Lina, hope you still remember the steps?” Sophia asked, and Paulina let out a sigh.

“Must we really do this?” Paulina asked.

“Come on, we already practiced the steps.” Sage urged.

“Sage, even you?” Alicia shouted with widened eyes.

Sophia set her phone camera on a stand, and the three of them did the video together while Alicia stood by watching them. Sophia made many more videos, and Sage insisted that he and Paulina do the dance challenge together.

“No, no, I made several mistakes, so I’d rather not.” Paulina said, raising her hands and they all laughed, expect Alicia who was obviously disgusted.

“Come on, we will only do the first simple steps.” Sage said.

“What don’t you do the dance with Alicia?” Sophia suggested, and they all looked at her.

“Me?” Alicia shouted. .

“No, she obviously doesn’t wanna take part, and I doubt if she knows the steps.” Sage protest.

“Come on, the dance is tending on social media only an anti-social person like Lina won’t know it. But you are right, I don’t think she wants to do it.”

“Let’s give it a try.” Alicia muttered, and they all looked at her.

“Really?” Sophia shouted.

“Just one dance.” She said, and Sophia screamed in excitement.

“Thank you so much, this is really gonna go viral.” She giggled, and Alicia smiled.

Alicia and Sage did the dance together, and they all did many more videos together before going to a karaoke to call it a day.

They sang together at the karaoke before Sophia took the mic to sing alone, and the others watch. Sage and Alicia drink together from a bottle of wine, while Paulina was enjoying her snack and soda – the three engaged in a conversation teasing Sophia who seems carried away in her music.

“Thank you.” Sophia bowed when she finished singing, and they all clapped teasingly.

“You should study hard, Sophie, never think of pursuing music career.” Sage teased and they all laughed.

“I would take that advice.” She said, and they laughed again. “Now, allow me pass the mic to…Lina.” She said, and they all clapped.

“Go Lina, go Lina.” They cheered and Paulina shook her head.

“No, I’m bad at singing.” Paulina protest.

“But you were so good at it when we sang together.” Sophia said.

“I know, but I can’t sing alone. Trust me, I don’t wanna embarrass myself.” Paulina said, and Sage chuckled.

“What if we sing a duet together?” Sage asked, and she looked at him.

“Yesssssss… you two should sing together. Sing together, sing together.” Sophia cheered and looked at Alicia who forced a smile and joined her.

Sage dragged her out, and they picked a microphone each.

“What song should I select for you?” Sophia asked.

“Lucky.” Sage replied, and they both looked at him.

“By Jason Mraz and Colbie Cailat? Sophia asked.

“Yeah.”

“Nice choice.” She said, and selected the song.

“Do you know the song?” Sage asked Paulina who nodded with a smile. “Cool! Then let’s go for it.” He said, and they both did a high-five before they started singing.

🎶
Sage:
Do you hear me? I’m talking to you
Across the water, across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby, I’m trying

Paulina:
Boy, I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

Both:
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again…
🎶

They both sang lovingly together and later joined Sophia and Alicia to have dessert before calling it a day.

Sophia’s driver came to pick her up, and Paulina insisted on taking a cab home while Sage gave Alicia a ride home.

“Thank you for the ride Sage, and thank you for today. You made my day.” Alicia said, and embraced him.

“Don’t mention it. I know you are lonely now because your friends think you betrayed them, but you did the right thing. I know it’s coming late, but I hope it makes you feel better, and I’m sure your friends will come around soon once they realize what they are missing.”

“I hope so.” Alicia muttered, then started playing with her fingers and Sage held her hand.

“While at it, you can always make new friends, I’ll always be here whenever you need someone to hang out with, that’s if you can bear with Lina and Sophie as well.”

“They are good friends, now I see why you ignored me to be friends with them.”

“What are you saying? I never ignored you. Besides, we stopped hanging out a long time ago.”

“And you never realized what you missed.” She muttered, and he chuckled.

“I guess I’m realizing it now.”

“Are we friends again?” She asked, her face brighten up in excitement.

“If you will also get along with Lina and Sophie.” He said, and she let out a sigh.

“Friendship with condition, but cool.” She said, and they both smiled.

Micheal has been thinking of a way to get closer to Paulina, and an idea came to his mind. He joined his parents later in the main dinning room to have dinner, and his parents engaged in a conversation together while Micheal think of the right way to interrupt them.

“Dad, I decide to give your suggestion a try.” He said, and his parents looked at him.

“What are you talking about?” His father asked.

“The volunteer session.” He said, and his mother chuckled.

“You were totally against it, what made you change your mind?” His father asked.

“I gave it all a thought after everything that happened recently. Going on that volunteer stuffs will help clear the air, it could also bring us together, it would be adventurous.” He said, and his father nodded.

“That’s a good idea. You should propose it to the boards, and find an orphanage to volunteer to, or a foundation.” His father said.

“Dad, eight hours volunteer in a rural area would be better.”

“Rural area?” His parents shouted.

“Just for eight hours. It would make a headline.”

“That’s interesting.” His father said.

“Are you sure it’s all about the headline?” His mother asked, and they both looked at her.

“Honey, do you’ve better suggestions?” His father asked.

“No, I think Michael’s suggestion will indeed make the headline.”

“Mike, that’s a nice suggestion, but I don’t think the staffs would be able to monitor all the grade 12 students in a new environment, remember, safety first.” His father said.

“Dad, all the students don’t have to be there.”

“If that’s the case, then most of the students wouldn’t go for it.” His father said.

“It should be mandatory for only the supreme class students.” He said, and his parents looked at him, while his mother smirked.

“Wow! That’s incredible, but I don’t think they will like the idea.” His father said.

“They don’t have to like it, dad. It’s just a few hours adventure to appreciate what we have and try to lend to others.”

“That’s a good idea. Propose it to the board, they should find a safe rural area with a wide space to lay few tents. We could use it as our annual anniversary program, with theme ‘contributing to the society.’”His father said, and they all nodded.

“It didn’t even take you an hour to think of a theme.” His mother teased, and they all chuckled.

“I’m sure that even if we make it compulsory, many of the students won’t still attend. We should penalize them with denial to the upcoming parents- students dinner.” His father said, and they all looked at him.

“Honey, isn’t that too harsh?”

“That’s why they will attend it. The parents come together that day to build connections, many of those parents can’t even afford the supreme class, but they make huge donations and pay a fortune for tuition because of events like that.” He said, and they both nodded.

“What gave you such idea, Micheal? It’s really interesting.” His mother said.

“He is a businessman, honey, not just any businessman but a Russ, he is his father’s son.” His father said, and he smiled while his mother forced a smile as well.
*
He returned to his room later, and tried to work but he couldn’t so he took a break and went online on social media, there he saw the viral video of Sage and Alicia on Sophia’s page with many positive reactions, he scrolled past and the video of Sage and Paulina singing together caught his attention.

“What? She hanged out with him at a karaoke!” He shouted, and started reading all the positive comments on the video – people commenting that they look good together.

“Disgusting! They should focus on their studies.” He shouted, and put his phone away.

He took the phone back later, and continued checking their videos, then he saw the video of all of them together.

“Did they all hanged out together?” He grumbled, and scoffed before putting his phone away again.

“Flrlting with two girls on the same day is highly ridiculous. Oh, there was also another girl. Such a w0manizer.” He grumbled, and covered himself with his blanket, tossing and turning on his bed.
**
**
The students all received the memo of the volunteer program, and they all started making a fuss over it.
*
The MASS went to their suite and they started talking against the program.

“Mike, you should’ve done something. We understand that your hands were tight with situation with Jayden, but you really have to stop this. At least let us be an expectation.” Austin said.

“It’s not compulsory.” Micheal blurted.

“Then I won’t get to attend the big dinner. My father will disown me instantly.” Austin said.

“Then I guess we have no choice.” Stanley said, and Austin glared at him.

“Stan, even you?” Austin shouted.

“I think the decision is above Mike.” Stanley said, and Michael chuckled.

“It was all my idea.” With that, he went to his study and they both stared at his retreating back.

“I don’t know what you are plotting, Mike. But you should have spared us from it, for the sake of comradeship, at least.” Austin shouted in anger before storming out.

“Where to, man?” Stanley shouted after him.

“Somewhere, to my fairy world.” With that he left, and Stanley scoffed.

“Looks like we are alone again, wanna play some games?” Stanley asked Steven who nodded, and they both went to the game room together.

**
Alicia was about to leave the class during recess; the whole class couldn’t stop talking about the volunteer program, and she was disgusted by the idea as well, but in a way, Ava made them stop talking about it and divert the attention to her, mocking her with the videos she did with Sage and his friends.

She ignored them all and plugged EarPods on before carrying her bag to leave when one of the videos she did yesterday with Sage and his friends started displaying on their board.

“My, God. How pathetic!” A student shouted very close to her, and another removed her EarPods.

“Don’t block your ears, it’s bad for the ear. Remember, my dad is a doctor.” A girl teased, and everyone started laughing at her.

“Look who found herself a squad. The only son of the Supreme Court Judge who couldn’t even make it to the supreme class, a supreme class parasite that is leaching off Ava’s family, and a lowly regular peasant who got lucky to afford the tuition. That made a perfect squad with a traitor like you.” Lia mocked, and Alicia stormed out of the class in shame.
**
**
Paulina, Sage, and Sophia all met at the cafeteria rooftop talking about the volunteer program.

“For the first time, I regret settling for the middle class. I should be able to amend it before the trip“ Sage said.

“That’s tomorrow, Sage. The school didn’t even send the notification on time.” Sophia said.

“Come on, Sage. I’ll be fine.” Paulina said.

“She said she will be fine. For the first time, I’m happy that I’m not a part of that class, I can’t imagine spending eight hours in a rural area, ¥ucl!” Sophia said.

“Do you really have to go? The guy won’t affect you.”

“Sage, I’ll be fine. Trust me. It’s just eight hours.”

“The party wasn’t that long before they locked you in that room.”

“I was gullible to trust them back then, but I know better now.” She reassured.

“Guyyyysss, you won’t believe the video I posted just hit a million views. It’s not even 24 hours yet.” Sophia screamed, and they all cheered.

They had snacks together before recess was over, and they all went to their separate classes.
*
When school dismissed, Sage waited for Paulina by the elevator, and Alicia walked up to me.

“Hey, handsome. Are you waiting for me?” She asked, and he chuckled. “I guess not.” She added, and he wrapped his hand around her shoulder.

“You don’t look good.” He muttered.

“I’m glad you noticed. School is h€llish enough, and now I have to spend eight hours in a rural area tomorrow.” She blurted, and he chuckled.

“It’s not compulsory.”

“But I can’t afford the penalty!” She blurted, and he laughed.

“Ok! You don’t have to raise your voice.” He teased.

“What do you know? You aren’t even going.” She muttered, and he patted her hair teasingly.

Paulina joined them later, and they all went to walked to the hallway together talking about the program, there Sophia joined them.

“Sophie, why did you tagged me in that video?” Alicia blurted, and they all looked at her.

“Because you were in the video.” Sophie replied.

“You should’ve asked for my permission before doing that.” She said, and Sophia looked at her speechlessly.

“It’s fine, it’s your policy. She will ask for permissions next time. Let it go. The programe tomorrow is the real thing on ground. I wish I could be there.” Sage said changing the topic because he could already tell that Alicia was about to throw a tantrum

“I wish I could go in my place, because it seems like you really love it.” Alicia said.

“There is no big deal in volunteering to the community. I once joined my grandfather during his foundation launching and it was a memorable experience.” Sage said, and Alicia rolled her eyes.

“Is that why you want to give it a try again? Go meet the principal, there might be an exception.”Alicia blurted.

“I’m really going to be fine, Sage.” Paulina said, and Alicia looked at them.

“Do you wanna go because of Lina?” Alicia asked.

“Sage is concerned because of what happened to Lina during Lia’s party.” Sophia said.

“It’s a supreme class thing, your friends are also gonna be there.” Sage said.

“They aren’t my friends anymore. They are literally bullying me now.” Alicia grumbled.

“Can I trust you to protect Lina from your friends?” Sage asked, and she looked at him. “After all, we are all friends now.” He added, and she nodded.

“Don’t worry, I’ll look out for her.” She assured, and he smiled.

“You don’t have to do these, I’ll be fine, I can take care of myself.” Paulina shouted, while Sage and Sophia nodded followed by laughters.

Sophia and Alicia’s driver arrived later, and they bid goodbye while Sage offered to drive Paulina out to find a taxi.

They entered his car and he gave her a phone.

“What is this?” She asked.

“What it obviously is.”

“Why are you giving this to me?”

“I can’t let you go on that trip without a phone. My number is already saved there. Call me if anything happens, no matter where you are I’ll come get you.” He said, and she looked at him.

“When did you even prepared this?”

“After recess break. I called my father’s secretary to get it, trust me it’s good quality.”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t accept this your card is still with me, this is too much. I’ve a phone at home, I’ll give you a call when I find it.”

“Did you lost it?”

“No, it’s in my luggage, I’ll give you a call. I still have the number you wrote down the other day. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. What matters is that you give me a call.” He said, and she smiled before he drove off.
