Paulina count few steps away from Steven to get a better look at him, and he smirked before leaving.
“Hey, Steve, wait up.” She shouted after him, but he ignored her.
After he claimed that the pendant wasn’t his the back then, she stopped bringing it to school and left it at home. She let out a sigh, wondering why he lied before and came now to ask her about the pendant.
*
She didn’t return to the MASS suites, instead she went to class, and on her way in she saw the MASS also going to the classroom, and they all walked in together.
She intend to go to her seat, but Micheal dragged her back, and she looked at him.
“What?” She grumbled.
He shook his head, and dragged her to the seat next to theirs.
“This will be your seat henceforth.” He said, and she looked at the student seated there.
“But it’s his seat.” She said, and Micheal smirked.
“What are you waiting for?” Micheal blurted, and the students left the seat immediately with his belongings.
“Seriously, Mike…”. Paulina muttered, and let out a sigh.
“There is no one there, so make yourself comfortable.” Micheal said, and they all went to sit.
The students looked at them mumbling words, but were too scared to speak up.
*
During recess break, Sophie summoned Paulina to the cafeteria rooftop, and Paulina joined her there almost immediately.
They exchanged pleasantries, and sat together to eat the snacks Sophia brought.
“What’s wrong with Sage? He isn’t replying my messages.” Sophia complained, and Paulina batted her lashes in guilt.
“Errmm… Sophie, about Sage…”. Paulina shuddered.
“I know.” Sophia said.
“What do you know?” Paulina asked, wondering if Sage already told her what happened between them.
“I know that you and Sage fought because of Mike.”
“Did Sage tell you everything?”
“What’s there to say? I saw the video in the student’s community, and I’m sure Sage will throw a tantrum because of it. Don’t blame him, Mike betrayed you first, but I’m still rooting for Mike.” Sophia said, and Paulina smiled.
“Is that it?” Paulina muttered in disbelief.
“Tell me about it, babe. Did you entered the MASS suite. I heard Angels always descend there.” Sophia giggled, and Paulina laughed. “Tell me about it, Lina, tell me about it.” She said, ticking her.
*
Paulina returned to class later, and when school dismissed she took the elevator to the first floor, and saw surprised to see Sophia there waiting for her – that was new, Sage was always the one waiting for her.
“Sophie.” She called.
“Lina, what do we do?” Sophia grumbled, making Paulina anxious.
“What happened?”
“A classmate of Sage, his name is Miguel, he followed me on social media, and we kinda became close from chatting, I think he likes me, he is not that bad… his father is the president of one of the company under Russ Group. One of the thriving companies, to be precise.” Sophia said, and Paulina let out a sigh – she almost panicked from thoughts that something bad might have happened.
“So?” She blurted.
“He told me about Sage.” Sophia said, and Paulina suddenly became interested.
“What’s it?” She asked.
“It looks like Sage is going to transfer school. What really happened between you two?”
“What? Sage is going to transfer?”
“What really happened between you two?” Sophia urged, but Paulina ignored her.
She dialed Sage’s number but it sent her straight to voicemail, she tried severally and it’s still the same.
“His number is out of reach. I guess he is really planning to leave. You’ve to make up with him, Lina. Regardless what the problem is, Sage is our friend.”
“How do I do that? His number isn’t even connecting.” Paulina shouted.
“Relax. I know where he stays. I’ve a friend at their vila, I can just contact the friend to have access in their estate. Let’s go to him.” Sophia said, and Paulina nodded.
*
Sophia instructed her driver to drive them to the estate and Sophia received a call on their way.
📞*Hello, mummy.*
📞*I’ll be a little late today.”
📞*Really? Aunt Toria is back?*
📞 *Oh my… I’m coming right now. I’m on my way to the airport.* With that she dropped the call, and Paulina looked at her.
“Did something happened?” Paulina dled.
“Yes, no, I mean yes. Something good happened.” Sophia said, trying to catch her breath.
“Do we’ve to turn the car around?”
“No, but I’ll get off. You, just go to Sage, my friend will guarantee a smooth pass for you.”
“What? I should go alone?”
“I’m sorry. My godmother just arrived, I’ve to go to the airport to welcome her if I want her to get me the designer bag I desire. I’m sorry, Lina.” With that, the driver stopped the car. “The driver will take you to Sage, I’ll just order a ride from here.”
“What? Sophie…-“. Paulina was saying, but Sophia got down from the car. .
“I’m sorry, babe, make sure you convince him to change his mind. I promise to make it up to you.” Sophia said, and blew her a kiss, with that the driver drove off.
“Wait… Sophie.” Paulina shouted, looking outside the window at Sophia who waved at her till the car drove off.
*
She arrived at Sage’s house, and she took her time to admire the magnificent building before composing herself. The staffs gave her access in after she told them she was Sage’s friend from school, and she waited in the living room while they went to inform him of her arrival.
She sat in the living room, and looked around, when someone suddenly came out from under the window.
“BOOM!” The person screamed.
“Argghhh…”. She shouted in fear, looking at the scary little girl.
A little girl of about 8-year-old, who wore a funny custom covered her face with a scary mask, and carried a fire extinguisher.
“Who are you?” She shuddered in fear.
“I should ask you that, but your ID says it all. You must be Lina, Sage’s girlfriend.” The girl said, and removed her mask.
“Girlfriend?” Paulina repeated with widened eyes wondering what Sage has been telling others.
“What girlfriend?” Sage asked joining them.
“Isn’t she is the Lina you always talk about?” The girl asked, and Sage nodded.
“I never said she was my girlfriend.”
“But mum said she is.” The girl blurted. .
“Lina, why are you here?” Sage asked.
“Errmm…”. She stammered confused on what to say.
“Pardon my brother’s ignorance, allow me introduce myself. I’m Clara, your number firefighter heroine.” Clara said, and Paulina smiled.
“You must be playing firefighters again.” Sage teased.
“You’ve a nice name, Clara.” Paulina said.
“I was told.” Clara said, and they both laughed.
“I see…”. Paulina muttered.
“I’ve other business, catch you later before you leave. But if my brother acts cheesy, call me, I’m also good with my fist.” She said, and made a fist.
Paulina laughed, and nodded before she left.
“Your sister is so cute.” She said.
“Why are you here?”
“I was unable to reach you.”
“That’s because I didn’t want to be reached.”
“Why did you left school early?”
“Were you worried?”
“Sage…”.
“I’m sorry for making you worry.” He said, and went to embrace her. “I had some business to take care of.” He muttered, patting her hair.
*
They went to his from later, and she started looking around. It’s just like a typical billionaire lad’s room but he has a statue of lady Justice in his room.
“Do you also want to be a judge like your mother?” She asked, and she started imagining how cool he will look on the judge attire.
“No.”
“So what legal profession do you want to pursue?” She asked, and he looked at her.
“Why do you think I want to pursue a legal profession?”
“Lady Justice.” She said, and pointed at the statue.
“Oh, that? My grandfather brought it here the moment I was born, says my parents. He wants a three generations in the legal field or whatever they call it. He wants me to become a prosecutor.” He said, and her face brightened.
“Wow, that’s so cool.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah, you will make a good prosecutor.”
“Everyone believe so. My grandfather is the world best lawyer, my mother is a respected judge, so they believed I could make a good prosecutor.”
“Are you showing off?” She teased, and he chuckled.
“Does it seem like i was?” He winked, and they both laughed.
“Do you also think you will make a good prosecutor?” She asked, and he looked at her.
“That’s new.” He muttered, confusing her.
“What?”
“Everyone always assume that I would make a good prosecutor, you are the first to ask me that.”
“Oh… I must’ve hurt your pride, I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m glad you asked. The truth is, I don’t know what I want to become. In as much as my mother and grandfather wants me to become a prosecutor, my father wants me to take over the company. The thoughts of all those burden has always been exhausting, so I never thought of what I really wanted.”
“You don’t want to become a prosecutor?”
“Either me or my sister must be a prosecutor because my grandfather already announced that three generation stuff to the world. But as you can see, Clara has a dream of her own. There was a time she wanted to become a doctor, then an anchor, and now a firefighter. I believe I’m the only one with none.”
“You will discover your dream soon, Sage, and I’m sure you will be good in whatever you go for.”
“I hope so.” He muttered, and looked at her. “I over reacted at school earlier, I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s all my fault. I should’ve tell you beforehand that Mike and I are now friends.” She said, and he let out a sigh.
“Why are you here? I don’t believe you came all the way here just to make up with me.”
“Sophia said you wanted to transfer.”
“What? Where did she got that?”
“She said some guy in your class told her.”
“Miguel?”
“Yeah, that should be his name.”
“Seriously?” He muttered, and laughed.
“Aren’t you transferring?”
“Why would I? I recently transferred to holland high. Do you think I would transfer just because we had a little misunderstanding? Is that how little you think of me?”
“I’m sorry, I was unable to reach you and Sophie suddenly said that. Why would Miguel make that up?”
“It must’ve been because we discussed someone related to school transfer, and I mentioned how easy it would be for me to transfer to another school and so on. We had that conversation last week. He must’ve thought I transferred because he didn’t see me in class.” He said, and she opened her mouth in exclamation.
“Oh…”
“Lina, in as much as you can have other friends despite us being friends, Mike is not just the one.”
“Sage, let’s kindly let go of the past, I believe Mike could make a good friend.”
“This isn’t about the past, Lina. It’s possible that Mike was the one who locked you up so he could be closer you.”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“I confronted Alicia, and I confirmed her response. Alicia and her friends boarded the first bus, if they were the ones behind it, they wouldn’t have left that early.”
“They could’ve put someone up to it, you can’t trust those girls. I believed they planted that thief, the same way they did with the thugs, they would’ve done anything.”
“Yes, I thought of that too. But a member of the press is an acquaintance of one of my father’s secretaries, and he confirmed that everyone left the location, including the town residence before the bus took off, which mean only a student could lock you up. Ava can’t control students in the supreme class as she pleases, she could’ve just done it herself or put her friends up to it.”
“Sage, but your assumption is too wild.”
“Mike didn’t leave with his friends, he retreated when they were about to leave and he had no business left behind. Since he returned immediately, he should’ve found you earlier if someone else actually locked you up there.”
“So are you assuming that Mike returned to lock me up?” She asked, doubting the possibility of his allegations.
“It’s possible he returned to use the restroom, and locked you up there. Think about it, Lina. It didn’t make sense for you to be there for over an hour before he rescued you.” Sage said, and Paulina bowed her head in thoughts.
Her phone rang later bringing her out of her thoughts, and she checked the caller’s ID to see it’s Mike.
“Excuse me.” She muttered, and left his room to receive the call.
📲*Hey, is how you choose to act? Why did you sneak out like that?*
📞*Mike, did you lock me up in the restroom during the volunteer program?*
📲*What… what nonsense are you spouting?*
📞*I know it’s nonsense, because it doesn’t make sense for you to lock me up.*
📲*So why are you asking me such?*
📞*Because I’m curious if you are truly similar to my childhood friend. Remember, I told you he once rescued me when I was locked up.* She said, followed by an awkward silence from the receiver’s end. *But that wasn’t the entire story, he wasn’t just a hero, he was also the one that locked me up to make himself a hero.* With that, the call ended, and tears slid down her face as she remembered how she found out that her supposed hero was actually the one that locked her up when she was younger.
*
*
FLASHBACK to when Paulina was 8-year-old.***
*
Paulina and Mikey became close after he rescued her from the restroom. Others stop bullying her because they were scared of him.
“Hey, you sly.” One of their classmates shouted, on their way home one day and Paulina hid behind Mikey.
“What do you want, Sarah?” Mikey asked.
“Why are you suddenly friends with her after you locked her up in the restroom?” Sarah shouted.
“You what…” Paulina shuddered, and counted few steps away from him.
“He was the one who locked you up in the restroom, it wasn’t me, nor the others, but him.” Sarah shouted.
“You… you…”. Paulina shuddered, and ran off.
“Lina, Lina.” Mikey shouted, running after her.
*
She confronted him later, and he explained that he did that because he wanted to protect her from the bullies. She was always scared of him because he had a bad reputation at school, so playing the role of a hero was the only way he could think of to be closer to her. She forgive him eventually, and they became close friends.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
Paulina broke down in tears, wondering how Micheal could be so similar to her childhood friend. But she shouldn’t compare them, because Micheal is born with a sliver spoon and Mikey lives alone with his struggling single mother.
“Why are they so alike?” She thought.
“Lina, are you alright?” Sage asked, approaching her.
“It was Mikey, it was all his doing.” She muttered in tears, and Sage embraced her obviously confused.

Paul and Charlotte relationship continued after the banquet but Grace cut ties with them. Paul tried to make Grace accept their relationship, but she was adamant that Charlotte betrayed her. After several failed efforts to make her understand, he eventually gave up.
Weeks passed, it was Charlotte’s birthday, and she threw a big party to celebrate with her friends, and colleagues from school.
The party was going successfully, and Charlotte engaged in a conversation with few of er friends standing by the poolside when Grace suddenly showed up.
“Grace.” She called surprised to see her.
“Hi, Charlotte.” Grace said, faking a smile.
“Grace, what are you doing here?” Charlotte asked in surprise because she didn’t invite her.
“Can’t I be here?”
“That’s not what I meant, I’m glad that you are here.”
“Don’t be too glad, I’m here to settle the score.” Grace said, then pushed her in the pool, and everyone around gasped.
“Charlotte!” Paul shouted, and jumped into the pool immediately.
“Stop overreacting, she is a better swimmer than you.” Grace said, and watched them swim out together.
“Grace, what’s that for?” Paul shouted, aiming at her.
“Paul, stop it.” Charlotte cautioned.
“Come on, Paul. We both knew she is good at swimming, the pool isn’t even that deep.” Grace blurted.
“What nonsense?” Paul shouted.
“Now the score is settled, Charolette. You caught me unaware, and I did the same. Now we are even. Happy birthday, my friend.” Grace said, and embraced Charlotte to leaving everyone astonished.
