The MASS left the scene with Paulina, and walked down the hall way heading to their suite. Austin and Stanley exchanged gazes, and Austin walked between Micheal and Paulina who were still holding hands.

“Ouch…”. Micheal whined, and Austin clapped.

“Yes, yes, that was a nice acting you both pulled off, I’m sure Ava is sulking somewhere right now. But please… Miss scholar, no one is looking anymore, could you kindly retreat, and stop following us?” Austin said, and Paulina let out a sigh in realization. She was carried away by the act, that she followed them without thinking.

“Yeah… I should be on my way now.” Paulina muttered, and intended to leave but Michael dragged her back.

“She is coming with us.” Michael said.

“She is what?” Austin and Stanley shouted, and they all looked at him.

“You can’t be serious, man.” Austin blurted.

“Mike, I don’t care if this is all your way to get back at Ava or you have other intentions. We will gladly support you in public, but you can’t force us to associate with the likes of her.” Stanley said, and Austin nodded along.

“Yeah, Stan is right, I’m totally against it. As long as that suite belongs to the MASS, we all have equal rights there.”

“Mike, just let her go, or you follow her if you have anything to discuss, we can’t welcome a pedant in our domain.” Stanley said, and Michael let out a sigh.

“Just until I get back at Ava.” Micheal muttered.

“NO!” They both shouted.

“It’s two against one, so you will have to listen to us this time.” Austin said.

“Mike, I’ve to go to class anyways.” Paulina said, hoping he let her go.

“Steven, what do you decide?” Micheal asked, ignoring Paulina – although he knows Steven will always agree with the majority.

“Man, if you are with us remain were you standing, if you are out, go stand next to Mike.” Stanley said, and Steven didn’t hesitate to go to Micheal.

“Seriously?” Austin shouted.

“Thanks, man. I believe it’s settled now.” Micheal said, patting Steven’s shoulder.

“How can you take his side, Steve?” Austin lashed.

“The man simply pick a side, but that doesn’t mean it’s decided. Now, we are even, you still haven’t won.” Stanley said.

“What does that mean?” Micheal asked, and they all looked at Stanley.

“You never let us bring an outsider to our suite, that only changed when you were dating Ava, but we all agree to it back then. But since we can’t come to an agreement now, we should stick to our old rules.” Stanley said, and Austin nodded.

“I second him.” Austin added.

“Why are you all being difficult?” Michael whined.

“It’s either her, or us?” Austin shouted.

“And if I choose her?” Michael asked back.

“Then you leave with her!” Austin blurted.

“Seriously?” Michael laughed.

“Fine, she can come with us.” Stanley said, and Austin glared at him.

“Why are you changing your vote?” Austin shouted.

“Because obviously, Mike won’t listen to us.” Stanley blurted, and Michael clapped.

“Fine, fine, I believe now we could say majority won the vote.” Micheal said.

“Insolence! You, Steven, you were always siding with the majority, why did you take Mike’s side? And you Stanley, you aren’t a man of your words.” Austin blurted, and left angrily.

“He will come around.” Stanley said, and patted Michael’s shoulder.

Sage arrived late at school and summoned Alicia to the cafeteria rooftop. She joined him almost immediately, in excitement, wondering what he wants to discuss with her.

“Sage, why do you want to meet here?” She asked, adjusting her hair.

“Why did you do it?” He muttered, and she let out a sigh as she instantly understood him.

“What are you talking about?” She asked, feigning ignorance.

“We both know you are feigning ignorance, I’m not buying that.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about, so it’s either you make me understand, or I return to class.” She blurted.

“You said you would protect Ava from your friends, but they used you to get her instead. Why did you do it?”

“You know nothing, Sage.”

“What exactly do I not know? Make it clear!” He shouted, starling her.

“You’ve no rights to accuse me!” She blurted.

“Yes, I don’t. I was gullible to think you will be different from them.”

“Lina ditched me first!” She shouted, and he looked at her.

“What do you mean by that?”

“When we arrived there, she ditched me and was hovering around Mike. She even missed her flight because she was with him.”

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

“You only trust Lina, right? Even if you met me before her, you blindly believe everything she tells you because you like her!”

“What you are saying is irrelevant to what you did. You lured Lina to town, paid some thugs to take advantage of her, and locked her up in the restroom which made her missed her flight. That’s all your doings, so don’t try to play them victim complex with me.” He said, and she laughed sarcastically.

“Yes, I asked her to escort me to the restroom , and she thought I lured her out when my bag got stolen, we decide to return after 10 minutes but I didn’t see her, until the bus left.”

“So why did you lied to me?”

“I did that because I know you would be worried, I know you would be heartbroken if I tell you she was with Mike.”

“So, who locked her in the restroom?”

“What nonsense are you blabbering on? My friends and I were part of the first people to board the bus, so if she was really attacked by the thugs and went through all that, what time did she return to the restroom to get locked up there? We should’ve all be gone by then, expect her and Mike who missed the flight.”

“Is that so?” He muttered, and chuckled.

“You still doubt me, right? If she wasn’t with Mike, then why did Mike missed the flight as well? You can’t tell me they were locked up together.”

“I will figure that out myself.” He said, and turned to leave.

“They said it themselves… Mike and Paulina.” She shouted, and Sage looked at her.

“What?” He muttered.

“They said they were together. There was a scene earlier before class, the video is all over the student’s community group. They said they were together, she even threatened Ava, and left holding hands with Mike.”

“That’s not possible.”

“If you doubt me, would you doubt this video as well?” She asked, and showed him the video of the earlier scene.

“This is nonsense.” He grumbled with clenched fist.

“I tell you, Sage, you know nothing about her. She is just using you.” She said holding his hands, and he jabbed her hands off making her fall to the floor.

“Don’t say what you don’t know.” He blurted, and left.

“Believe it or not, Sage, she is just using you.” She shouted after him.

Paulina entered the MASS suite, and she couldn’t contain her amazement. The suite is as beautiful as any private suite she have seen on tv and magazines.

“Wow! So a place like this exists in this school.” She found herself saying.

“Welcome to my haven, Lina.” Micheal said, proudly.

“But you shouldn’t feel comfortable here, because you are an outsider.” Austin said, joining them from the game room.

“I know you wouldn’t sulk for long.” Stanley teased, patting Austin’s shoulder.

“Who is sulking?” Austin grumbled.

“Come on, man, let’s just try to get along.” Michael urged with that, Stanley and Austin glared at him.

“I’ve a principle, Mike, and I believe we all share that in common. We must never associate with a peasant like her, a parasite who is leaching off others.” Austin blurted, and left.

“Seriously, man. You really gotta define your true intentions, because you are starting to disgust me.” Stanley blurted, and whet to the game room. “Steve, wanna clear your head?” He shouted from the game room, and Steven went to join him.

“Now, we are alone.” Michael muttered, and winked at Paulina.

“Your friends are angry at you because of me.” She said, and he chuckled.

“They are just sulking, they would come around.”

“I really don’t have to be here if it makes them feel so uncomfortable.”

“Ignore them, I’m sure you guys will get along with time. Most especially, Austin. He always plays hard to get.”

“You don’t have to try this hard. I don’t have to get along with your friends for us to work on a common goal.”

“Getting along with them isn’t that bad either.” He said and she nodded.

Her phone rang later, she check the caller ID to see it was Sage. Before she could receive the call, Micheal collected the phone from her and ended the call.

“What’s that for?” She shouted.

“Since we are on a team, we should exchange contact at least.”

“But that’s not enough reason for you to end my call.”

“I’m sorry, you can always return the call.”

“Seriously?”

“Lina, I barely apologize, so just accept my apology.”

“Are you threatening me now?”

“What? You only have Sage’s number on your phone?” He shouted.

“No, Sophie’s contact should be there as well.”

“It’s not there.” He said, and she collected the phone from him.

“Why are you going through my contacts?” She shouted.

“I wanted to save my contact there.”

“Then you should’ve just done that.”

“Why don’t you have your mother’s contact at least?”

“Do you know my mother?” She asked, and he smirked.

“Why would I know your mother? I’m just curious because you should have your parent’s contact on your phone even if you don’t have many friends.”

“You should have said parents, and not mother.” She muttered, and he nodded in realization.

“Yeah… it’s just that I believe all teenagers get along with their mother.”

“It seems like you get along pretty well with your mother.”

“That’s never the case with either of them.” He muttered.

“Either of them? Do you’ve two mothers?”

“Hun?” He muttered, when he realized what he said.

“You said it wasn’t the case with either of them.”

“I mean my parents, mum and dad. We only get along when the company is involved, in the right way of course.” He said, and she nodded.

Her phone rang again, and she picked it immediately.

She went to the cafeteria rooftop where Sage request they meet, and she met him there waiting for her.

“I apologize for calling you out, you must’ve been busy in class.” He said, and she shook her head.

“I wasn’t in class.”

“Were you with Mike?”

“Sage, I don’t know how to explain the situation to you.”

“You know I’ll always understand no matter how you explain it, so you’ve no excuse.”

“I’m sorry. I want to return this to you.” She said, and brought out his card.

He looked at her and chuckled. “Do you want to cut ties with me? Did Mike ask you to do that?”

“Sage…”

“I could understand, he hates my guts, and the feeling is mutual.” He said, and she looked at him. “But I can’t understand you!” He shouted, startling her.

“Mike has nothing to do with this, and I’m not trying to cut ties with you. Chairman Stanford gave me his card, so I want to return yours. It has really been helpful since you gave it to me.”

“Why are you doing this to me, Lina?” He muttered, and she looked at him.

“What did I do?” She asked confused.

“Why were you with Mike the other day?”

“I thought I explained that to you.”

“You did, but it doesn’t make sense. Why would Mike miss his flight in first place, do you care to know that?”

“He must’ve some business that left him behind.”

“Which is?”

“Sage, I’m not a detective. Mike rescued me, am I supposed to question his intentions?”

“You are too naive, Lina, and that’s why you easily get fo0led. Did you two make any agreement after he rescued you, or how best would you explain your little act with him? I wasn’t at school, but I saw the video.”

“That’s enough, Sage, if you are going to continue acting this way, then we will always argue. That’s enough! Being friends with you doesn’t mean I can’t be friends with Mike, and it’s vice versa. I was being bullied, and I merely stand up for myself with Mike’s help. We are friends, but we are both free to have other friends.”

“Are you breaking off our friendship if I’m against your friendship with Mike?”

“You’ve no reason to be against it. Like I said the other day, I’m not your responsibility. You’ve done a lot for me as a friend, and I truly appreciate it. I could do the same for you as friend, not just for you, but Sophie as well. Because we are all friends, and friends should be there for each other.”

“Friends? Of course we’re friends… just as we’re friends with Sophie. But friends should also listen to each other, and be on the same boat.” He said, and left.

“Sage.” She wanted to call, but controlled herself from calling him. He is over protective of her, and setting boundaries to their friendship was the only way for her to accomplish her mission with Micheal. “I’m sorry, Sage. I hope you will understand with time. I really have to survive, and this the only way I can.” She muttered, and looked at his card, remembering their first meeting. “He has always been good to me.” She thought, and tears steamed down her cheeks.

She composed herself and left the rooftop later. On her way, she couldn’t stop thinking about Sage, that she almost hit the pole in front of her, but someone was quick to put his hand there for her.

“Owww…”. She grumbled, and looked up at her savior surprised to see it’s Steven.

“You still have it, right? My pendant!” He muttered, and she gasped. That was the first time she heard his voice, or see him talk. She almost thought he was dumb to always be quiet.

Ava paced around in her suite, and her friends let out a sigh already exhausted. She has been that way for a while now.

“Ava, are we really going to let that girl trample over us like that?” Lia blurted.

“She even threatened you with your mother’s election. What does she have again you?” Alicia asked.

“Why? So you could go back to her and use it to make your father the mayor?” Ava blurted, and Alicia face twist in a frown.

“What nonsense are you blabbering?” Alicia shouted angrily.

“Will you be quiet? I can’t even think straight.” Ava shouted.

“You’ve been thinking for quite a while now. It will really be difficult to get rid of her now that Mike got her back.” Lia said.

“Then we’ve to separate them.” Ava muttered.

“How would you do that? Mike has always been going around that she was special to him since then got locked up together, and now they have became closer after spending time together.” Lia said.

“I can sense something fishy in their sudden closeness. If Mike stayed back to be with her, his friends would be aware of that, but they seem equally stunned.” Ava said.

“What are you saying?” Lia asked.

“Mike doesn’t keep secrets from his friends. If he was really close to her to her, and missed his flight to hang out with her, they would be aware of that” Ava said.

“So what’s your point?” Lia asked.

“Something is fishy.” Ava muttered, ticking her lips.

“Ava, I was meaning to ask you something… did you locked Lina up in the restroom?” Alicia asked, and they both looked at her.

“What nonsense? Why do you ask such?” Lia blurted.

“Because she lied to Sage that we locked her up in the restroom, and that was why she missed her flight.” Alicia said.

“You are still on that middle class loser again? Alicia, have you finally lost it?” Lia blurted.

“Don’t speak that way about him, there must be a reason why he is in the middle class.” Alicia defended.

“Who cares?” Lia lashed.

“That’s enough, you two.” Ava shouted, and they both composed themselves. “If Paulina claimed that she got locked up, it could only mean that Mike rescued her and they made an agreement after that.”

“But we didn’t lock her up. Did you put someone up to it?” Lia asked.

“Someone must have disgust her as much as we do, or it could be the other way round.” Ava said smiling evilly, and they both looked at her.

“What do you mean?” Lia asked.

“We’ve to find out the real reason Mike missed his flight.” Ava muttered.

“And?” Lia asked, wondering how that will do them any good.

“Then we could know how to seperate them. It’s going to be difficult to get rid of Paulina if Mike got her back, like you said earlier.” Ava said, and Lia smiled.

“I’m glad you agreed with me.” Lia muttered, and Ava glared at her before smirking.

MRS. RUSS’S (Micheal’s mother) OFFICE ^^^
^
Mrs. Russ was working on her computer when her secretary distracted her with a video that shows Micheal and Paulina scene at school.

“So that was why he missed his flight.” She muttered, and smirked.

“Ma’am, what should we do about the video?”

“Make sure it doesn’t go outside the school walls, we can’t afford any scandals with a special scholar that is being bullied.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“This is getting interesting, Micheal, seems like you are trying to pick up what you left behind.” She muttered, and chuckled.
