Charlotte opened her eyes in a hospital room, and tried to get up but she felt too weak. She looked around wondering why she was admitted in a regular ward, and what lead her to the hospital when the memories of everything came back – her family demise, to her accident.

A nurse entered the ward, and smiled upon seeing that she was awake

“I’m glad you are awake, Miss. I’ll get the doctor to come check on you.” The nurse said before leaving.
*
Charles closed her eyes wondering how long she has been there, and how worried Paul must’ve been, she was even unable to talk to him before the accident.

The doctor run some tests on her, and she was transferred from the ICU ward, to an another ward. That was her first time of being admitted in a regular ward, and she could feel how inconvenient it was for those admitted there.

The doctor blabbed on, telling her about her condition, but she wasn’t paying any attention to him, as she kept wondering how long she has been there.

“Do you’ve any question?” The doctor asked.

“How long have I been here?”

“Four weeks, you’ve been in the ICU for four weeks.”

“What? Four weeks? Did anyone aaid me a visit?” She asked.

“No one did. Your cellphone damaged from the accident, so we were unable to reach anyone.”

“So Paul didn’t know I was here?” She grumbled.

“But you don’t have to worry about anything, you are better now, and your baby is in good shape as well. You can use the hospital line to make a call if you want to.”

“My baby? What baby?”

“Oh… we ran some tests on you that confirmed that you were pregnant, you are six weeks pregnant now.”

“What? How can I be pregnant?“ She grumbled, and the doctors left later.
*
She used the hospital line to call Paul, but he ended the call immediately he heard her voice.

📞*Paul, Paul.* She shouted, and dropped the call.

“What do I do? What’s wrong with him?” She thought.
*
She heard news later that her father have been prosecuted, and sentenced to prison – he was defended by public defenders. Her jaw dropped upon hearing the news, which only means that Don couldn’t hire professional lawyers for him, and it’s all caused by her accident.

She divert her thoughts to wondering why she was unable to reach Paul, and why he ended the fall on her. She refused to believe that he ended the call because he heard her voice, so she put herself together with determination to get better, and pay him a visit, and tell him about the baby. She was determined to get rid of the baby, but she decide to consult him first before making such decisions.

She sold out her designer wristwatch to clear the hospital bills after she was discharged, and went to the detention center first, to see her father who was brought out to her.

“Daddy.” She called.

“Charlotte, are you ok? Are you hurt in anyways?”

“Daddy, I heard that you got a life sentence. I’m so sorry, daddy… it’s all my fault.” She cried.

“Don’t say that. I’m glad to see you are doing fine. I heard about the accident. I was so worried.m, I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anything for you. I’m really sorry, my child.”

“Daddy, it’s not your fault. I just got discharged, and I heard about your sentence. I’m going do as you say, I’m going to get the money and take some to Don, we will find a lawyer to reopen your case.” She said, and her father his head.

“Don’t! Don was the traitor.” He said, and Charlotte looked confused.

“What do you mean?”

“You can’t trust anyone, Charlotte. Don was the traitor who sold us out to some political man, and sent all those evidence to the prosecutor. He came here and confessed to me himself. Forget about everything, Charlotte, and live your own life.”

“How can I live you are locked up here and I can’t trust anyone.” She muttered, sniffing in.

“There is nothing much I can do, I’m sorry. You’ve to take care of yourself now.”
*
She left the detention center later, and board a taxi straight to Paul’s house. Even though there is no one she can trust, she could at least trust him, and hear his reason for not checking up on her because is sure he must’ve a good reason for it.

The cab she entered broke down in the middle of the road, so she left and went to a convenience store to buy a drink before continuing on her way, there she saw a news report on Paul and Grace’s wedding. The can drink in her hand fell down immediately, as she stare at the TV devastated.

She left there later, and boarded a taxi to his house, the securities didn’t let out through, but a car drove in at the moment, and Grace alighted from the car.

“Charlotte, I thought you are dead.” Grace said, and Charlotte’s eyes widened.

“You, you are not married to Paul, right? The news was false, right?” She shuddered.

“You only choose to believe what you want to believe. Remember I told you, Charlotte. I want Paul, and I’ll get him even if he is in any cheesy relax. We are married, our parents arranged it. I’m sorry about your family, I’ve always knew that something was wrong with that family of yours. But I couldn’t just figure it out.” Grace teased, and tears flowed freely from Charlotte’a face. Even though her father asked her not to trust anyone, she believed she could trust him.

“Grace, father is wa…-“. They heard Paul’s voice approaching them, but he stopped immediately he saw Charlotte.

“Paul…”. She shuddered.

“Security, escort her out. Paul, let’s go, father is waiting.” Grace aaid, and grabbed Paul’s hand, leading him away.

“Paul! You’re the worst!” Charlotte shouted as she security escort her out, but Paul didn’t even look back.

She left devastated and lonely, she has always lived like a princess all her life, starting a new life where she could trust no one was like a torture to her, so she decided to end it all. There was nowhere she could go, all their prosperities have already been seized

“What’s there to live for?” She thought, and made the huge decision. “I’m sorry, mum, I’m sorry, dad.” She muttered, looking at her bracelet.

She but stood by a bridge watching the ocean, she had always loved swimming because she felt whole whenever she was in the water, she let in a deep breath, and she jumped into the water.

Sage and Sophia went to the regular students cafeteria together after Paulina sent them a message that she wouldn’t be having lunch.

Sage sighed into his meal, but didn’t have any appetite to take a bite as the thought of what Paulina might be doing disturbed him. At times he wondered why he was that affected by her. He was attracted to her at Lia’s party because she was just his type, a had a soft spot for girls who looked innocent, and she had it all. After everything that happened at the party that night, he realized that she wasn’t just innocent, but also helpless so he felt the urge to protect her, and transferred immediately. The length of what he could do for her scared him a lot that he started doubting his feelings. He was never that way either the few girls he had dated in the past, and he doesn’t even have the courage to tell Paulina his true feelings from fear of losing her; she is going through a lot already, so bothering her with his feelings would only make her uncomfortable around him.

“Sage, why aren’t you eating? It’s getting cold.” Sophia said, after taking a bite from his meal.

“I’ve no appetite, we shouod leave when you are done.” He muttered.

“You like Lina, don’t you?” She muttered, and he looked at her.

“What do you mean? Lina is our friend, but yes, you are right. I like her, and it’s beyond friendship.”

“I knew it.”

“I never tried to hide it from the start.”

“I didn’t expect you to admit to it upfront.”

“I’ve no reason to deny it.”

“Why didn’t you tell her?”

“I don’t want her to feel uncomfortable. She is going through a lot, and I’m sure she is passing through something that she doesn’t want to share. Telling her about my feelings will be bothersome for her.”

“So will you cover it with mask of friendship forever?”

“Not forever. Just until she feels more comfortable to share everything, until I think the time is right, just until… I’m sure she will accept my feelings.”

“Actually, I think Mike has feelings for Lina.”

“What nonsense are you spouting? Don’t tell me you trust that j£rk after everything he had done?”

“Well… I don’t trust him, but I’ve no resentment for him either.”

“So what?” He blurted, dropping his cutleries in anger.

“Although I vouch for Mike, like who wouldn’t? He is a young director, and also the heir to Russ Group, but you are my friend and I trust that Lina will be in good hands with you.” She said, and he nodded.

“I hope Lina feels the same way.” He muttered, and Sophia smiled.

“You should still tell her, Sage, tell her before it’s too late.”

“You think I should tell her?”

“Yes. I just have a feeling that Mike is up to something, even though I’m rooting for him, I would be hurt if she chose him over you.”

“I would think about it. But do you think Lina can really go out with Mike?”

“We could never tell, she is full of surprises. Who knows a that she could pull out those dramas with Mike.”

“You’re right, I don’t just understand her at times.”

“I hope she accepts your feelings, Sage. I hope things work out for the both of you, so she can open up fully to you.”

“I hope so too. Thanks, Sophie. You are true friend.”

“If things work out with Lina, you should set me up with one of your friends.” She said, he chuckled.

“I thought things are going well with you and Miguel?”

“What Miguel? Forget about that loser, and set me up with better people.” She blurted, and he laughed. “Hey, what’s funny?” She shouted.

“Nothing, nothing.” He grumbled, coughing slightly.

“Better.” She muttered, and emptied her glass of water.

Micheal told his friends about his fake relationship with Paulina, and as expected they were all against it.

“What? You must be out of your mind, Mike.” Austin shouted.

“Mike, this doesn’t make sense.” Stanley said.

“It’s not a real thing.” Michael said.

“My point exactly, why fake it in the first place?” Stanley shouted, and Michael let out a sigh wondering why he was making a fuss like Austin.

“Man, I’m totally against this.” Austin blurted.

“Me too!” Stanley added, and they all looked at Steven who looked away.

“I’m against it too.” Paulina said, joining them. She was seated in another side in the room, while they argue.

“What? What do you’ve to say?” Austin blurted.

“Who asked for our opinion?” Stanley added.

“No one, I know I shouldn’t talk because you are the four infamous elites of the school, the prestigious heirs to whatever your family own, and I’m just a special scholarship student who happened to have a mutual enemy with Mike. I have no reason to be here if that wasn’t the case.” Paulina blurted, and they all lookEd at her in shock.

“What? What made you think you can talk to us?” Austin shouted.

“If I’m to answer that, I would have do talk to you again, will that be fine?” She said, and Steven chuckled; they all looked at him and he instantly composed himself.

“What? Did she just talk back at us?” Austin shouted.

“You. To be precise.” Micheal teased, and they all glared at him.

“We’re late for class. Let’s go.” Paulina said, and Michael stood up.

“Let’s go, guys.” Michael said, and they all stood up as well.

“Wait! Are we following her instructions now?” Austin shouted, as they head to class together.

“It’s not over yet, Mike.” Stanley grumbled, and Michael nodded.
*
After the day class was over, Paulina hurried out of the class first, and met Sage by the elevator at the ground floor.

“Hey, that was quick.” He said, and held her hand.

She hurried out of class to be able to tell him about her relationship with Micheal before he made any move. It might be a fake relationship, but she can’t be opened about it to Sage because she is certain that he will be totally against it, and she isn’t sure if she is doing the right thing as well.

“Sage, there is something I’ve to tell you.” She muttered.

“I also have something to tell you, but not here. I’ve to hurry home now because my grandfather is around, but let’s meet later.”

“Later? When?”

“Will you be free for dinner? We Gouda have dinner together and watch a movie.”

“We are going out? Is Sophie coming along?”

“Nah… you said you wanted to tell me something. We could do it then.”

“Sage, bu…-“. She was saying when his phone rang.

📞*Hello, dad, I’m on my way.*. With that he dropped the call.

“I wish I could give you a ride, but I’m in a hurry. See you later.” He waved, and hurried away.

“I want to tell you about Mike.” She grumbled.

“What’s it about me?” Micheal asked from behind, startling her.

“Gosh, you startled me.” She shouted.

“That’s not a nice way to talk to your boyfriend,” he said, and wrapped his hand around her shoulder, but she jabbed it away.

“Don’t touch me.” She blurted, but he dragged her back.

“I’m very clingy, you should know that.” He whispered in her ears.

His friends stood behind looking at them in disgust.

“Isn’t Mike putting too much effort to this?” Austin muttered.

“Do you think it’s fake?” Stanley said, and Austin looked at him.

“If it’s not fake then what?” Austin shouted, but Stanley shook his head before walking away. “Hey, come back here and answer me. It’s fake, he told us it’s fake.” He shouted, following Stanley.
