Jessica push aside her books, and exhaled heavily. She has been trying to study all day at home, but her thoughts kept getting in the way. She had to dismiss her private teacher early, and now, she is still unable to concentrate in the library.
“Why would he say such and ran away? Pretending like he never said anything unusual?” She thought, and started cursing Stanley quietly, remembering his confession the other day
*
*
FLASHBACK to the day she went to the beach with Stanley***
*
“So, can I court you?” Stanley asked, taking her off guard.
“Did I heard that correctly?” She blurted, because she didn’t see that coming.
“Thanks for today, I’ll try my luck again with the math club,” with that, he ran off.
*
*
FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
She let out a small laugh, and those around looked at her. She smiled sarcastically and managed to look away.
“Why is this bothering you so much, Jess? This isn’t the first time someone wiki confess to you. Get it all together, the mid semester exam is fast approaching,” she thought, and tried to concentrate but she couldn’t.
“Why did he ran off like that?” She found herself saying out loud, attracting attention to her.
She bowed apologetically, and packed her books before leaving, ready to go confront Stanley.
She was on her way to thier suite when she saw them walking down the hallway. She composed herself, before approaching them.
“Hi, I’m glad to see that you guys officially resumed back. And you, Steven, welcome back,” she said.
“Thank you,” he muttered, and her eyes widened —that’s the first time she heard his voice.
“What? So you talk? I mean… you aren’t mute?” She gasped, and they all chuckled.
“Am I supposed to answer that?” He asked, and she shook her head.
“You shouldn’t talk this much, the whole school will start to gossip,” she said.
“About what?” Austin blurted.
“His voice. I believe almost 99.9999999% of the students believe he is mute, if he suddenly disappeared and appeared back this way, they would believe he went for a surgery. You should get what I mean,”
“Are you starting the rumor?” Micheal asked, and she shook her head.
“I have better things to do,”
“Then get to that!” Austin blurted.
“Don’t be too aggressive. I’m here to do my thing,”
“I don’t follow,” Micheal said.
“Stan, can I have a word?” She asked, and they all looked at her.
“Me? A word with me?” He shuddered.
“Yeah,”
“But recess is over, I have to be in class,” he said, and they all glanced at him.
“We aren’t in a rush,” Austin said, and Micheal chuckled.
“Let’s go, guys, Stanley will follow,” Micheal said, and wrapped his arm around Steven’s shoulder, leaving first, while Austin winked at Stanley before he followed.
Stanley scratched his hair nervously, and looked away, trying to avoid eye contact with Jessica.
“Hey, are you uncomfortable with me?” She blurted.
“If I admit to it, would you let me go?”
“Goodness. Is this how to court a girl?” She snapped, and his eyes widened agape.
“What… what?” He shuddered.
“If you have no confidence to look at me in the eyes, then how can you be so bold to say such to me?”
“I’m sorry,”
“What? Are you seriously apologizing now?”
“Honesty, Jess, the truth is… I didn’t know what came over me. I’m not fit enough to dare say such to you. I mean… I… let’s say, I was drunk. Drunk? Drunk on the coffee? No, I actually had alcohol that day, so let’s say it was the alcohol,”
“Are you always this way? Or I had a wrong impression about you?”
“I know you are gonna reject me so what’s the point? And if you reject me, I wing be able to look you in the eye again, far from dreaming of joining the math club. I wasn’t thinking, I’m sorry,”
“What made you think I would reject you,”
“It’s certain! I mean… you always had a crush on Mike, and I’m no match for him. You rejected every single proposal, and rumors had it that you reject Marcus as well. Who am I to dream about it? So, let’s say it’s the alcohol,”
“You are actually different from them,” she mumbled.
“What? What did you say? Did I heard that correctly? Aren’t you going to hit me back to my senses? Were you actually going to accept me?” He gasped.
She touched her chest and smiled. “It’s settled! I already cleared my mind, so we good now,”
“Wait!” He shouted, and held her back.
“What? I said we are good,”
“Can I actually court you?”
“We are late for class,” with that she left.
“Yes!” He muttered, throwing his hands in the air.

AT A COFFEE SHOP^^^
^
Louis and Paul went to the closet coffee shop to his house to talk, and Paul slipped from the hot mug of coffee to calm his nerves
“You are quite strange, Paul, requesting for hot coffee in a hot afternoon. Weird, if you would ask me,” Louis teased.
“How long have Charlotte being with you?”
“She isn’t your liability, you I don’t think I’ve to answer that,” Louis muttered, and slip from his mug of coffee.
“How come she is alive? Paulina even identified her body,”
“Then let’s say she is dead,” Louis muttered, winking at him.
“What are you up to, Louis?”
“Should’t you be worried? The mother of your child is alive, if she comes forward now, won’t it affect your wife’s election?”
“What are you getting at, Louis? Is Charlotte in hidden because of Grace?”
“If you can’t even understand that simply word, permit me to say that you are indeed dumb. What really happened to you, soul? You weren’t like this. The Paul that was my childhood friend was quick-witted. What has ever happened, Paul?”
“Louis, why won’t you let me meet Charlotte?”
“Because I don’t trust you,”
“What does that mean?”
“You have changed so much, and I don’t trust you. I promise to protect Charlotte, and I’m goin to do just that,”
“She isn’t your liability either,”
“Allow me answer that. But we can both answer for you,”
“I didn’t say I want rk get back together with Charlotte,”
“Of course you can’t. If Grace is by your right hand, do you want Charlotte to be by the other side?”
“I don’t know what you are getting at, Louis. I just want to have a conversation with Charlotte, and I don’t think I have rk explain that to you!”
“You have to, because I trust no one,”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Someone tried to klll Charlotte,”
“What?”
“We don’t know who ig is yet, but I believe we will find out with time “
“Are you trying to accuse me?”
“If you are capable of such, you wouldn’t be stuck in that marriage up till now,”
“Who tried to klll Charlotte?”
“Would I be having this conversation with you if I have the answer to that?”
“Who could have…”
“If you are still struggling to get that straight, then you are in no position to speak with Charlotte. Never come to my house again, if you do, things will get ugly. And while at it, continue to keep Paulina safe, even if you aren’t doing much, just ensure that she is safe in that house while she is there,” with that, Louis left.
After Louis left, Paul couldn’t stop thinking about everything he said.
“What’s he insinuating?” He thought, and exhaled heavily.

MRS. RUSS’S OFFICE ^^^
^
Mrs. Russ put away what she was doing after her secretary informed her about Micheal turning in his resignation.
“What? You don’t mean it!”
“I just confirmed it, ma’am, but it doesn’t seem like the chairman is going to process it,”
“Why would Mike turn in his resignation?” She thought. “Is Laura still at his quarter?” She asked later.
“No, ma’am. She left few days ago. Apparently, she turned in her resignation letter and left. She now resides at a motel,”
“W motel…”. She muttered. “Mike turned in his resignation letter, and Laura disappeared to a motel…. I want you to cancel all my appointments today, and send the chairman’s schedule to me,”
“Yes, ma’am,”
“What are you really up to, Mike? And you, Ben? Why didn’t you tell me about Mike’s resignation?” She thought. “No, this won’t do,” she muttered, and called her secretary back.
“Ma’am, I was just about to carry out your assignment?”
“No, don’t do that! If Mike turned in his resignation letter, it only means he is ready to give everything up, if will give it up anyways, we can just help him do that and end this for good,”
“What do you want me to do now, ma’am?”
“The article that aired few weeks aga dled down so fast, so u what you to find an ambitious reporter, whose story will stay longer,”
“Ma’am, you want to sell off the Russ to a reporter?”
“No! I’m going to help Mike give up. Since he is willing to anyways. Ben is the one holding him back. He wants my company for his son, so I should kick out the nuisance. Russ Group is mine!”
“Madam, but how about the Stanford’s?”
“I don’t need the Stanford’s, Mike need them not me! If the truth behind Mike’s identity and a revealed, the Stanford’s will call-off the engagement. Ben will have do resign, and I’ll rebuild Russ group. It was mine from the start, so it’s just right to claim back what’s rightfully mine!”

CHAIRMAN STANFORD’S MANSION^^^
^
Paul was trying to work in his study, but he couldn’t concentrate. The thought that d everything he discussed with Louis has been bothering him, and the most bothersome part was something tried to klll Charlotte.
“Who could it be? There is no way it was Grace, she could be anything, but not a murder, who could it be?” He thought, and left his study.
He went to the bedroom, and met Grace still up staring at her phone like she was expecting a call.
“Have you been in your study all day? The maids said you came home early,” she muttered, in a sober voice.
“Are you ok?” He asked, and she shook her head.
“Dad was summoned to the prosecutor’s office today,”
“What? For what ?”
“Mr. Ken said something about tax, u don’t fully understand. Dad refuse to allow me visit him,”
“Is he still there? They haven’t let him go?”
“I don’t even understand. I’m still expecting Mr. Ken’s call,” she cried, and he exhaled heavily.
“There is no way she could plan a murder,” he muttered.
“Paul, what should we do?”
“If it’s just tax, he should have been released after questioning. They can’t detail him for this long,”
“But they did! I don’t even know what to do anymore, Paul. The election is behind the corners, and different obstacles kept getting on the way. What do I do, Paul? What if someone is aiming all this at us because of my election? Could it be from my opponent? No, I doubt, he isn’t that smart. What do I do, Paul?”
“Someone is aiming at you? If it can’t be the opponent… then… could it be Louis?” He thought. “Is Louis attacking Grace with thoughts that she plotted Charlotte’s alleged murder?” He muttered, and Grace looked at him.
“Did you say something?” She asked.
“I’m going to call mh lawyer to confirm what’s going on, so keep your mind at ease. I’m sure he will be fine,”
“Thank you, Paul. I really don’t know what I can do for dad, when he has done everything for me,” she muttered, and Paul looked at her.
“What do you mean by he did everything for you?” He asked, and she looked at him.
“Hun…”
“You just said he did everything for you, what’s that supposed to mean?”
She looked at him speechlessly, and her phone rang saving her from his sudden question.
“I need to take this,” she muttered, and excused herself to receive the call.
*
📞*Hello,”
📲*Ma’am, the man tailing the chairman confirmed a suspicious movement today,*
📞*Who cares about that right now?”
📲*Ma’am, this seems urgent. The chairman could likely have a mistress “
📞*That’s also what you said the last time, and she turned out to be nobody!”
📲*Ma’am, it’s confirmed this time. Her husband even confronted the chairman,*
📞*What? She is a married woman?*
📲*She is likely,*
📞*Likely? Hey! You are at this again, I don’t really have time for this nonsense right now. You have been tailing him for years, and all you ever gave me was false information!*
📲*Ma’am, we took pictures, I’ll send them to you after this call,*
📞*You better be right this time and not waste my time!* with that she dropped the call.
“Dad is still stuck at the prosecutor’s office, that’s worrisome enough, who cares if Paul is cheating?” She grumbled, and she thought against it. “What if he is actually cheating?” She thought. “Gosh… this is too much. This better not be Paul,” she exclaimed.
The pictures was sent to her, and her eyes widened to se Louis in the picture.
“What? Louis! Why did Paul met Louis?” She thought, and checked the other pictures.
The woman face from the picture wasn’t clear due to the distance, but seeing Louis with Paul, and the familiar blurry face gave her all the clues needed.
“She is Charlotte, Charlotte was alive after all,” she muttered, and her hands started trembling. Her onine fell off her hand, and someone picked it up for her.
She looked up in fear to see Paul, giving her a confused look.
“You met Charlotte?” She muttered, and his eyes widened in shock.

IN THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE^^^
^
Mr. Packard chuckled looking at the prosecutor that didn’t seem to be giving up.
“Why won’t you admit to all your crimes?!” The prosecutor shouted.
“You summoned me here for tax evasion, and now you are questioning me for a bunch of crimes. You said you have a witness, you said I have been caught. So issue a warrant for me, and tag me a criminal, Mr. Prosecutor,”
“Why did you send your lawyer away?”
“Because I realized there is no use for him to be here. If you truly have evidence as you claim, then issue a warrant for my arrest! Mr. Prosecutor!”
“Aren’t you even scared for your daughter’s election? If you are helplessly here, refusing to talk. Your daughter will crumble with you,”
“That’s a threat, and I can sue you for it,”
The prosecutor exhaled heavily, and turned off the cameras.
“It’s just me and you now Mr. Packard,”
“What do you want from me?”
“Your confession,”
“Are you that eager to lock me up?”
“Just like you, I have daughters to protect,”
“What are you taking about?”
“We both know you are trying to klll my nephew so he won’t expose your granddaughter’s true identity,”
“What? What are you exactly?!”
“I don’t care about my nephew, I cut ties with him long ago, so you can do whatever you want with him. But if you are locked up here, who is going to save your daughter, and granddaughter?” He asked, and showed Mr. Packard an article, with headline
*THE TRUTH BEHIND GRACE STANDARD’S RELATION WITH THE INFAMOUS EX-CONFLICT* the headline reads, followed by recent pictures of Grace meeting with Leo.
“Who are you?!” Mr. Packard yelled , grabbing the prosecutor’s shirt.
“Who I am doesn’t matter, I already issued a search warrant for your house, and once it’s approved, everything will be over either you confess or not,” the prosecutor muttered, and turned the camera back on, leaving Mr. Packard dumbfounded.
