Ava’s surgery was successful, and she was transferred to a ward for close monitoring till she recovers.
Paul checked on her at the ward, and was about to leave when he saw t he security guards at the VIP unit harassing a man(Leo).
“Chairman, sir. How is Ava?” Leo asked, and Paul looked at him.
“Chairman, we saw him snooping around,” the security said, and Paul nodded.
“The surgery was successful, but we have to wait for her to wake up,” Paul said, and Leo sighed in relief.
“That’s a relief, thank you, sir,” he muttered.
“Do you care for coffee?” Paul asked, and Leo looked at him.

They both went to the cafeteria to get coffee, and Leo tried to relax.
“I know who you are, you are her biological father,” Paul stated, and Leo looked at him.
“Thank you for raising, Ava. Sir,” he managed to say, and Paul chuckled.
“Thank you? For raising my own child?” He said, and Leo looked at him. “It’s not right to thank me. I raised Ava for 18 years fully aware that she wasn’t my daughter,”
“May I ask why you raised her even though you were aware from the start?”
“Because she was cute,” he said, and Leo looked at him. “She was a cute baby girl. I was home alone with her that day… the maids were all downstairs and her nanny was away to get some things for her. Her mother had other arrangements, and she was crying, I went to her room disgusted, but she stretched her little hands to me, I carried her, and she stopped crying at the instant. She was so cute, she was cute back then, and even now. I vowed to protect her. That was the child I raised, but now, I don’t think I can keep on protecting her. Yet again, I’ll fail another promise,” he said, and Leo looked at him.
“Is it because of me? Please, don’t mind me. I will never show up to Ava again,”
“Not because of. A lot of things have been happening, and I believe Ava needs time to accept her place, and adapt to the new change. I plan to send her abroad after she recover, she can also undergo her plastic surgery there,”
“Oh, you are sending her abroad…”
“You might not be able to see her if she leaves, do you have any objections ?”
“No, no. Not at all, sir. I appreciate your efforts for raising Ava all these while, and you are even sending her abroad, so who am I to protest?”
“You are her father, her biological father,” Paul said, and Leo looked at him. “I know how you feel, because I recently reunite with my biological daughter as well, and I’m sending Ava abroad because of her. So feel feee to show your concern,”
“Sir… I just wish to see her one last time before she leaves. I know she won’t be glad to see me, but I just want to see her even if it’s from a distance,”
“How long do you want to look at her from a distance?”
“Sir?”
“You must have been doing that all these while, that’s how you could easily tell that she was here. So how long do you want to keep that up?”
“I-…”
“Feel free to visit her at the hospital at anytime, I’ll inform the security as well. Don’t thank me, I’m also a father and I won’t deprive you the rights of being a father to your child,” with that, he left.

Paulina held her mother all day as she told her stories about her survival, how she survived all murder attempt, and overcome the clinical challenges that came right after. They wept together, and smiled at each other, enjoying a beautiful mother and daughter’s moment.
“Mum, now that you are back, everything is settled. Dad can just be with Ava, and we can return home together, we can bring grandpa with us as well. I really missed you, mum,”
“Home?”
“Yes, mum. Home to the countryside,”
“Do you want to return back there? Don’t you like the city?”
“I like here, but I love wherever you are,” she said, and embraced her mother tight.
“You are Paulina, we should return home, and that home is wherever we can be together,” she said, and Paulina smiled.
“I have really missed you, mum. I thought I was never going to see you again,”
“I was scared too, but thanks to someone, I was able to come this far,”
“Who? The friend who have been assisting you?”
“Yes, I want you to meet him. He will be here shortly,” Charlotte said, and almost immediately, Louis joined them at the cafeteria.
“Charlotte. Oh, you must be Paulina,” Louis said.
“Doctor?” Paulina called as she instantly remembered him.
“Have you two met before?” Charlotte asked.
“Mum, he was Ava’s Doctor, we met a few months ago,”
“Oh…”
“Thank you so much for everything, sir.” she said, and Louis’s shook his head feigning a sad expression.
“Not that, Paulina. I’m a very close friend of your mother, and I was close to your father too. So I deserve more than that formal treatment. Give me a hug. I’m your uncle,” he said, and spread his arms.
They all laughed, and she walked into his embrace all smiles.
“Thank you for everything, uncle,”
“If you are thankful then let’s hangout later,” he winked, and she smiled.
Paulina returned to her seat next to her mother, and Louis took the seat opposite them.
“Is Paul aware of this meeting?” he asked.
“Dad knew that you were alive?”
“I’m sorry, baby, I asked him to keep it from you,”
“Why are you so mean, mum? Everyone knows expect me,”
“I’ll make up for it,”
“I assumed he isn’t aware yet,” Louis muttered, and Charlotte nodded.
“I already texted dad, he eats us to have dinner together,”
“Will you invite Paul?”
“Paul has no reasons to be there,”
“Then I’ll be the one to inform him about this. Is Paulina coming with us now?”
“Yes. She refused to let me go,” Charlotte said, and they all laughed.

Louis drove Paulina and Charlotte to his house, and they were surprised to meet Paul there.
“What’s dad doing here?” Paulina said, and held her mother’s hand.
“Louis… did you ask him to come?” Charlotte asked.
“Nope. I told him not to worry, that Paulina was with us. He must have come to fetch her,”
They alighted from the car, and Paulina held her mother tightly, staring at her father.
“Paul, what are you doing here?” Charlotte asked, and Paul wrong to embrace her taking everyone off guard.
Louis excused himself, and Paulina stared at them emotionless.
“You’d well, Charlotte. It’s all over now, and you can be with Paulina again,” he said, and Charlotte freed herself from him.
“Are you here to tell me that?”
“Charlotte,”
“We don’t need you here Paul, but since you are here, we can discuss about my daughter,”
“Let’s do that later, that’s not why I’m here. Paulina have really missed you, you two can spend all the time you want together, but please… let me know if you decide to leave,”
“Why? As Paulina’s father?”
“Charlotte, I have done a lot of unforgivable things, and I know I don’t have the right to fight for anything-…”
“Since you know that, then, leave!”
“Paulina… is still my daughter,” he muttered. “I’ll take my leave now. Paulina, take care and don’t cause your mother and Louis any trouble,” he said, and Paulina nodded before he left.

They went in and met Louis unpacking their bags, she just retuned from the UK, she hasn’t even unpacked before she went to Paulina.
“Did Paul left?” He asked.
“Yes,” Charlotte muttered.
“Uncle, let me assist you,” Paulina said.
“Thank you… but I should be doing this in my room, I don’t even know why I’m unpacking here,” he said, and Charlotte chucked.
“I’ll go prepare some coffee for us,” Charlotte said.
“Thank you. I’ll inform Ms. Bella of our arrival tomorrow. So prepare the coffee, e-bike I keep Paulina company,”
Paulina sighted their childhood picture, and picked it.
“That’s your parents and I when we were younger,” Louis said.
“I know. Dad told me,”
“Wow. Your father must have tell you a lot of things then,”
“Not really, he didn’t tell me Wip the other girl is. Did you lost contact with her?”
“Grace?” Louis said.
“Is she Ms. Grace?”
“Yes. Grace, your father and I grew up together. We have been friends since we were born, influenced by our parent’s friendship , and your mother joined later, and we became that beautiful squad,” Louis said, remembering their beautiful memories.
“So what happened?” Paulina asked.
“A lot happened. I left first, and cut ties with them, but somehow I was able to reunite with your mother again. I’ll tell you a lot of stories about your mother later,” he said,
“Dad left mum… and went to her friend, I mean his other friend,”
“Paulina, there is a long story behind it. Trust me, it’s a really boring one so don’t let us bore the moment. I’ll only tell you the fact about it all. I know Paul for the first 10 years of my life, he was my best friend. So I know he tried all he could to protect your mother, but he was left with no choice. Your father is not a bad person,” Louis said, and patted her hair while she nodded.

Mr. Ethan joined them later, and they all spend time together, and words couldn’t describe how happy Paulina was to be reunited with her mother, and grandfather.

Monday came early like the weekend was just a glimpse, students started arriving at school talking about the latest gist on thier school website.
Micheal arrived at school, and his friends rushed towards him.
“Mike, did you saw the post on the website? I told you, Lina could be chairman Stanford’s illegitimate daughter,” Austin said.
“The video seems authentic, someone captured a video of Lina and chairman Stanford at the hospital, she called him father,” Stanley said.
“I wonder who was behind the video,” Steven grumbled.
“It could only be Lia, she was also the one that started the gossip about her being his daughter when she heard about the party,” Austin said.
“You guys go ahead, I’ll wait here for Lina. I’m sure those bugs are hanging around to surround her when she arrives,” Micheal said.
“Did you know before now?” Stanley asked.
“Did she tell you?” Austin asked.
“Stop asking questions and leave!”
“If you are waiting for Lina, then let’s all wait,” Austin said.
“No. Go ahead, I’ll be fine. Don’t make me repeat it,”
“Let’s go. I’m sure he will take care of it,” Stanley said, and wrapped his hand around Austin and Steven.
“We can handle it together,” Austin grumbled as they took their leave.
Micheal waited for few minutes before Paulina arrived all smiles, she even waved at whoever dropped her off, but her off.
“Lina,”
“Hi, Mike,”
“Have you seen this?” He asked, showing her the video. “I doubt,” he added, and she gasped.
“Mike…”
“If you want to admit it, I’ll help you, if you want to bring it down, I’ll help you. So, tell me after you decide,”
“Mike, you knew…”
“Am I supposed to answer that with how I felt, and how long I have known?”
“Mike… why didn’t you say anything? You should have asked questions,”
“I was waiting for you to get the confidence to say it. Being an illegitimate is nothing to be proud of. I understand the feeling,”
“I’m sorry, Mike,”
“Then I assume you already decide. Let’s go in, I’ll make sure the school deletes the post as soon as possible. Don’t worry, no one will come at you while I’m here,” he assured, and she nodded.
They both emerged the hallway, and students whispered pointing fingers but no body dares to go close. They were already close to the elevator when someone called Paulina from behind.
“Hi, Pauli,” they heard, and they both turned to look at the person.
Micheal shot him a glare, and Paulina gasped in disbelief.
“Orion!” she screamed, and embraced him, to Michael’s surprise.
“I knew it. I knew it was you,” Orion said tightening the hug, and Micheal cleared his throat before pulling Paulina away.
“Oh, Mike. He is my friend, Orion,”
“You never told me you had another friend in the regular class,”
“I never knew he attend this school. He was my friend from my former school,”
“Was? That’s sad,” Orion said.
“Oh, my, Orion. I’m so escalated. Words can’t express it,” Paulina said, and wanted to embrace him again but Micheal stood between them.
“Hi, Orion. I’m sure you know me since you are a student here. But in case you don’t know, I’m Paulina’s boyfriend,”
“Ok. Pauli, how have you been?” Orion asked, and Micheal rolled his eyes.
“Orion, it’s a surprise that you are here. I mean…”
“It’s more surprising to see you here, and in the supreme class. Well, as for me, I moved in with my parents , I told you my parents were in the city, and he enrolled me here,”
“Wow. You never told me your parents were influential,” Paulina said, and Micheal scoffed.
“It’s nothing to brag about,”
“Lina, my legs are aching. Let’s go!” Micheal snapped, and dragged her away.
“Hey? Why are you acting like that?”
“Didn’t you see yourself, fllrting with another guy while I was there, standing,”
“I wasn’t fllrting with him, he is my friend,”
“ I recalled you said “was”. How did you even became friends with him, I mean… you barely keep company of friends,”
“We teamed up for a competition together in middle school, so we became close from there. He is very intelligent,”
“Oh, I see… now intelligence is the trend,” he grumbled, rolling his eyes, and Paulina laughed.
“You’re funny,”
“Wait. Pauli, Pauli. Why does he keep calling you that?”
“I don’t know. He just calls me that,” she muttered, blushing softly and Micheal rolled his eyes.
Jessica approached them later, and Paulina left with Jessica while Micheal headed to his suite.
“Man, what now?” Austin asked.
“Stanley, make sure that post on the website got deleted. I won’t say than that,” Micheal said, and Stanley nodded while Austin scoffed.
“Really, man?” Austin shouted.
“Stan, we told you we have a lot of surprises for you,” Steven said trying to change the topic.
“Is it that thing that Austin said he will only tell me in person? I almost bucked a flight to hear the gist,” Stanley said.
“That’s the spirit, bro. I wanted you to fly back,”
Austin said.
“What’s it? I’m already curious,”
“Steven became an anonymous mafia boss,” Micheal said, and Stanley gasped.
“What? How did it happen?”
“Lord shark tried to kill me, he was my father’s right hand man. Mr. Kim, my father’s new bodyguard rescued me, and that was when we discovered that he has been slowly kllling my father with harmful substances in disguise of medicine,”
“What?”
“I had to take action. My father was too weak to control his men, and they won’t follow Mr. Kim instructions, so I have to go back home and give them the order myself. I got rid of lord shark,”
“You kllled him?”
“I didn’t. But I ordered it,”
“Bro, Steven is really fearsome,” Austin said.
“Indeed,” Stanley grumbled in fear, and Steven chuckled. “What happened to your father?”
“He needs to treat himself, the polsion already spread, so he might not last long. He retreat abroad, and put me in charge. I couldn’t say no, he would have stayed back and dled if I refuse. I couldn’t believe he was taking the medicines knowing fully well that it was harmful because he wanted me back home,”
“Wow. Now I’m friends with a mafia boss!” Stanley exclaimed. “At the end, you choose that path. I believe that was the path for you from the start,”
“I agree. He is too skilled to be anything else,” Austin said, and they all laughed.
“Stan, you all think I’ll be the first to get married, but Austin could likely be the first,” Micheal said, and Stanley looked at Austin.
“Did your parents arranged it?” Stanley asked, with widened eyes.
“They both know I won’t accept,”
“So what?” Stanley shouted.
“It’s Rae…” he muttered, and started the long story.

Austin won his championship, and he celebrated with his friends, and he went on a date with Rae as promised.
“Austin, I like you ,” she said, and he choked on his drink.
“Since when?”
“Before I dated Roy,”
“What? For that long?”
“I know you feel the same way, that’s why I dated Roy, and I have been with other guys so you won’t come to me,”
“How does this make sense? And besides… why are you telling me this? You like me but you don’t want to be with me
“I just felt it right for you to know. Don’t ever think I choose Roy or Derick over you because you aren’t good enough, I did all that because I like you,”
“So why can’t we be together?”
“Because I don’t waht to get hurt again,”
“How will I hurt you?”
“My first love hurt me. That was the first time I’ll ever like someone, so I couldn’t bear the heartbreak when we broke up. I instantly made up mg mind not to like anyone first, and just get in a relationship for fun. We are all teenagers, it’s not like we will get married or something. So why follow the heart? I’m telling you this so you can avoid me as well, get over whatever feelings you have for me, because we will never be together. I’ll start avoiding you now, it’s understandable, I just confessed my feelings,” she said, and stood up to leave.
“Then let’s get married!” he shouted, and she looked at him.
“What?”
“I know I sound crazy, but that’s how much I like you. It all started in middle school, and just like you, I get in relationships for the fun and breakup when I get bored,”
“But, marry?”
“A boyfriend can breakup with you, but there are vows attached to marriage. It will take a lot of thinking before one can break those vows and separate. So, instead of my girlfriend, be with me forever so we won’t have to breakup,”
“Austin, are you listening to yourself?”
“Just like you, I also don’t want to get heartbroken. Let’s get married, Rae. Me and you, when we are ready,” he said, and kissed her.

Stanley couldn’t control his laughters after Austin finished his story.
“So, does that make Rae our sister-in-law?” Stanley said, amidst laughters.
“Stop it already! It’s not like I’m getting married now,”
“Austin is so good with words,” Steven said.
“Beat me, man. He is the best. “Don’t be my girlfriend, be my wife” those words sound so cringe,” Stanley laughed.
“That’s enough, Stan. We already teased him enough,” Micheal said, amidst laughers.
“I hope you don’t regret it later, because this is the best way to tie you to one lady,” Stanley said, and Austin glared at him.
Austin phone rang later, and he excused himself to receive his call.
“Is that our sister-in-law?” Stanley shouted, and they all laughed. “Did he gave her a ring?” He asked later, and Micheal nodded.
“The ring was specially crafted for her. It’s one of its kind,” Steven said.
“Wow. He might be serious with her,” Stanley exclaimed.
“Let’s see how it goes, because I doubt,” Micheal said, and they all laughed.

Ava opened her eyes at the hospital, and saw Leo in her ward, Leo noticed that she opened her eyes, and rushed to her.
“Ava, you are awake,” he exclaimed, and she didn’t stop staring at him.
“Who… ar-.. areeee you?” she asked weakly, and Leo looked confused .
“I’ll go get the doctor,” with that he left.

Paul rushed to the hospital after the doctor called to inform him that Ava was awake, he went to her ward and met the doctor there in company of Leo.
“Doctor, why is she still asleep? You told me she was awake,”
“Yes, but we have to put her back to sleep, I’ll explain the reason to you. Let’s kindly talk outside,” the doctor said, and Paul followed him out.

Paul looked at the doctor already impatient, and the doctor started, using their medical term.
“As I explained before the surgery, the CT scan showed swelling and bleeding in both temporal lobes. She’s regained consciousness, but the injury has disrupted her hippocampus — the part of the brain responsible for memory. I’m afraid she’s been diagnosed with amnesia.”
“What?” Paul shouted, unable to believe his ears.
