CHAPTER 29💔30
“Two bottles of tequila at table six”yelled a middle-aged woman and Lilian nodded as she picked up the drinks and rushed to deliver them to the customers.
She just started her new job at another bar and everything seems to be going fine with her.It’s been two weeks since Henry’s rejection and she had learnt to move on with it though her heart still aches sometimes.
“Here is your order”said Lilian as she placed the drinks on the table and turned to leave.
“Hey,beautiful”said a voice and she turned to meet the most charming eyes ever.If she said Henry was handsome then this man before her was a god from the sky.Handsome wasn’t enough to qualify his perfect face.He was all a woman could ask for in a man.
“Hello!!Am Antonio”said the god-like man and Lilian strapped out of her daze.
“Hi,am..li…lian”Lilian replied stuttering with a smile.
“Lilian!that’s a lovely name for a pretty girl like you.”said Antonio and Lilian blushed a bit.
“Thank you so much”replied Lilian.
“You needn’t to.Can I have your number?”asked Sean and Lilian was about to reply when a domineering and familiar voice spoke behind her.
“No,you can’t”said Henry as he stood beside Lilian.Henry had been visiting the bar for the past one week though he couldn’t fathom his reason for doing that but he knew he wanted to see Lilian.He felt something for her and ever since he rejected her he had been uneasy.He wasn’t sure if what he felt was love but it wouldn’t hurt to find out.
He had seen the so called Antonio making advances at her and what made him furious was that she had blushed at his compliment.There was no way he was going to sit back and let her get taken away from him.
“Who are you??Her boyfriend??”asked Antonio as he stared from Lilian to Henry.
“Yes”
“No”
Henry and Lilian said simultaneously and they turned to face each other.Lilian stared at Henry like he had grown two heads.How could he reject her a few weeks ago and then show up only to call himself her boyfriend?Normally,she should be overjoyous over it but she wasn’t.Does he take her for a tool or a plaything??
“Come with me now!”yelled Lilian as she walked out of the bar and Henry followed her.
They got outside and Henry leaned against his car with his arms crossed around his chest as he stared at her.
“If you have something to say then go ahead.Am sure you didn’t call me outside to stare at my face”Henry said nonchalantly yet Lilian said nothing.
“Well if you have nothing to say,I have something to say.Cant you find a better job than working in a bar.I feel like you are purposely working in a bar because if the attention you get from the opposite sëxes and trust me when I say am uncomfortable with it.You can’t….”Henry was saying but he got interrupted as Lilian landed two hot slaps on his face as she fumed in anger.
“Who the Fuçk do you think you are?!You think you are so high and mighty that you can treat anyone the way you like and mess with other people’s feelings anyhow.While am just a prawn that you think you can mess with anyhow,reject and ridicule like she is nothing and then come back and treat her like a valuable thing.Are you nuts”Lilian spat out in anger.
“Listen to me carefully,Mr.Henry Brooks,I,Lilian Scarford would never allow take advantage of my feelings and even if am head over heels for you I wouldn’t let you hold that against me and you with me anyhow!”added Lilian as she made to walk away.
Henry stood there rooted to a spot.He deserves the slap and more.He had hurt her so much and he just showed up like a fated bastard and called her his girlfriend but what could he do?He had only loved one person all through his life and at the end he wasn’t able to protect her.He lost her and now he is afraid that he might also lose Lilian if he keeps on holding his guard up.
He couldn’t hold her but he also didn’t want to let her go.Without thinking twice,he pulled her closer and hugged her from behind as he sniffed her hair.
“Am sorry but I can’t let you go as much as I can’t hold onto you.I am a bad luck and am afraid things might go worse for you if I hold onto and you might run away from me.I am afraid to lose you forever so I just want to love you from afar”said Henry as he sniffed her hair.
Lilian just stood frozen as she held his hands that were wrapped around her.She could feel the self guilt and pain through every statement he made and she wondered who it was.The stood there for minutes before it started raining.
“Fuçk,must the rain interrupt a lovely moment like this?”said Henry as he pulled Lilian into the car.
