CHAPTER 37⚔️38
Charles and Evelyn were snuggled against each other on the couch as they watched a TV program.
The past two days had been so good to them and they have been all lovey-dovey in the house making the maids uncomfortable. Charles had showered Evelyn with love uncontrollably.Evelyn was so happy that she forgot about her identity and just wanted to enjoy the moment.
“What is happening here?”said a voice that only Charles recognized. It was Lady Alicia,she had been away a day after Evelyn was employed so she never got to meet Evelyn.
They quickly disengaged and Evelyn stared at him questioningly but his eyes were glued to the door.She traced his gaze and it met with that of a old woman.She was holding a rod and looking dangerously at Charles.
“What are you doing here,Lady Alicia?”asked Charles.He was surprised to see her because she was not meant to be back until the next two months and she still had about 2weeks left.
“Are you asking me that?I rushed over here when I heard about the incident and I also came to clarify something which I now know. So it is true you are having an affair with your bodyguard.”said Lady Alicia and Charles scratched his head nervously while Evelyn fiddled with the hem of her clothes.
“It is a long story but you are back two weeks earlier.Are you done with your treatment?”asked Charles and Lady Alicia hissed.
“It is so obvious that you aren’t happy to see me but it is too bad because am here to stay.”said Lady Alicia and Charles sighed.Things were going to be tougher for him and she was going to make him work twice harder but all that didn’t bother him. He was worried she wouldn’t approve Evelyn.
“Leave us alone.I want to have a talk with her.”said Lady Alicia and Charles’s eyes widened.He knew she would want to talk to Evelyn but he never expected it to be too soon.
Evelyn became so nervous.She didnt know what lady Alicia wanted to talk to her about but she didn’t want Charles to leave her.She held him back as he tried to stand up.
“Be calm.She isn’t as harsh as she looks”Charles said to her and she nodded.
“Be nice to her”Charles said to Lady Alicia before leaving.
Everywhere became silent after Charles left and Lady Alicia sat beside Evelyn.
“Look at me”ordered lady Alicia and Evelyn turned to her.
“What is your name?”asked Lady Alicia.
“Am Evelyn,ma’am”replied Evelyn and Lady Alicia nodded
“Do you truly love Charles?”asked Lady Alicia and Evelyn went silent.
She didn’t want to just give answers to it.She searched within herself to be sure.
“Yes,I do”said Evelyn and lady Alicia sighed.
“Charles lost his parents at a very young age and I had taken care of him ever since then.I watched him scale through many difficulties and I also watched every single tear fall from his eyes.I watched him fall in love for the first time and I saw what he went through after his first break up.”She paused and cleared her throat.”He never fell in love ever since until he met you but am afraid because I don’t want him to pass through the same pain again.He is too young for the pain he had passed through.I am old and might die anytime soon so I want to make sure he is in a reliable hands before I leave so I will ask you again. Do you love Charles?”asked Lady Alicia and Evelyn sighed deeply.
She might be an assassin and sometimes be mistaken about her identity but there was something she was so sure about and that was her love for Charles.
“Yes,I do.If there is anything I don’t want to lose in this world then that will be Charles. Am ready to risk my all for him and even at the cost of my life I want to shield him”said Evelyn.She wasn’t saying all of that to impress Lady Alicia but those were words coming straight from her heart.
“I approve your relationship with him and I hope you won’t betray the trust I have for you.Take very good care of Charles”said Lady Alicia and Evelyn smiled.
“I promise you,ma’am.Thank you very much”said Evelyn and she left.Lady Alicia stared at her as she left and she couldn’t deny the similarities between Evelyn and someone she knew.
Evelyn got to Charles’room and sat in his bed while Charles stared at her closely.
“What did lady Alicia say?”asked Charles and Evelyn smiled.
“She approves our relationship”Evelyn replied excitedly and Charles smiled widely.
He placed a light kiss in Evelyn’s lips which became deeper and in no time he was laying on top of her feeding on her lips.
They heard a loud knock on the door but they were too caught up in the moment to attend to it.The knock became louder yet they ignored it.
“Don’t make me barge in there”yelled lady Alicia and they disengaged quickly.
She came in and looked at them intently.
“You aren’t allowed to spend time together alone until marriage so I will take Evelyn to her room now.”said Lady Alicia as she pulled Evelyn out.
Charles held his head in frustration as he punched the bed.
