“What if I told you I was in love with you back then, would you have loved me back?”
“Huh?” Jane muttered, surprisedly.
“What are you trying to say Lucas? You were in love with love me?” She asked with widen eyes. Lucas looked at her for a while and began to laugh.
“What’s funny, Lucas?” She asked again.
“Do you you see your face a moment ago? It’s worth the laugh Jane” Lucas said, smiling.
“What were you trying to say Lucas?”
“I was just joking Jane. Maybe if I had fallen in love with you back then, you won’t have been heartbroken. I love you as a friend Jane, I was just pulling your legs” He said, and Jane hits his chest.
“Ouch! What’s that for Jane?”
“You scared me big time, Lucas. I thought you liked me romantically and I was too ignorant to know about it” Jane said.
Lucas smiled and caressed her head. “Don’t be scared of anything Jane, I only love you as a friend, and besides I have Julianna who loves me so much”
“And I am sure you love her too, right?” Jane asked with a smile on her face. Lucas looked at Jane for a while before answering.
“Yes I do. That’s why I am going to try my best to be a good husband to her”
“I am sure you will be the best husband and father. Kayla is a living testimony to that”
“Speaking about Kayla, how is she?”
“She’s fine. She has been busy these past few days”
“Why?” Lucas asked, removing the strand of hair in her face.
“She was appointed to do an online advertisment for her school alongside her classmate. You know Kayla, right? She’s always ready to do a good job”
“Of course I know Kayla, Jane. I raised her” Lucas said and Jane smiled.
“What about Adrian? Has he been bothering you?” Lucas asked.
Jane was about telling Lucas how Adrian forcefully kissed her, but she chose not to, in order not to generate any problem, because she already know what Lucas is capable of doing to Adrian.
“No Lucas. He hasn’t”
“Are you sure? Or maybe you’re just covering up for him”
“Of course not Lucas. He knows we have a child together, but he is on his own world”
“That’s good to know then. I wasn’t joking when I told him I won’t allow him go close to you again. I gave him a chance to be with you, but he took it for granted. He has no right to be back in your life, regardless of the fact that Kayla is his daughter” Lucas said.
Jane smiled and hugged him. “Don’t worry Lucas, I won’t ever go back to Adrian. I no longer love him like I used to. You’re the one who brought joy to my sad life and I won’t ever forget your generosity” Jane said.
“I am not your best friend for nothing, Jane” He said, hugging her back.
A knock came on the door, and they both broke the hug.
“Come in” Jane said and Joyce entered the office.
“Joyce! I gave you a day off to rest, why are you still here?” She asked.
“I know why you gave me a day off, ma’am, but I am just one week pregnant which means I am strong enough to work for you” Joyce said, smiling.
“But….
“I know you are worried about me, but I will be fine ma’am. Someone is actually here to see you”
“Who?” Jane asked.
“She said her name is Stephanie”
“Stephanie? Let her in”
“Okay ma’am” Joyce said and leaves.
“Is she a client?” Lucas asked.
“No. I don’t have any appointment with someone named Stephanie, and it got me thinking on who it might be”
“Just wait and see who she is” Lucas said, and Jane nodded her head with a smile.
Stephanie entered the office, looking unkempt, such that you’d think envelope of poverty has befall her.
“Stephanie!” Lucas said. He was surprised to see her again after so many years.
Jane looked at Stephanie and back to Lucas. “You know her?” She asked. She is unable to recognize Stephanie, because she was blind during the times Stephanie almost killed her, and after she regained her sight, she didn’t cross path with her again.
“Long time no see Jane” Stephanie said in a pity voice, and Jane’s ear instantly stood up after hearing Stephanie’s voice. There’s no way she’d forget the voice of the girl who almost killed her.
“I remember you now. You tried to kill me fifteen years ago! What the heck are you doing here!”
Stephanie quickly went on her knees, placing her hands together. “I am sorry for what I did to you fifteen years ago, Jane. I was jealous about you and that’s why I did that. My life has bee shattered ever since then. My parents died, and having no one, I feed from hand to mouth. I hope you can forgive me for what I did to you” Stephanie said, feigning tears.
“How on earth did you find Jane?” Lucas asked.
“Well, she’s popular in Los Angeles, so it’s easy to find her. Jane, I am sorry for everything. I’d have come to you to ask for forgiveness, but I don’t know what you will do to me if you see me. I just gathered up courage recently, and that’s why I am here. Please forgive me, Jane” Stephanie said, sniffling.
Jane looked at Lucas, she took in her lips before speaking. “Get up Stephanie”
“Have you forgiven me?” She asked and Jane nod her head.
Stephanie smiled and stood up to her feet, hugging Jane. “Thank you so much, Jane. I thought you’d had a hard time forgiving me”
“It’s all in the past Stephanie, so I no longer hold a grudge against you” Jane said, smiling.
“Thank you so much, Jane”
“But why are you looking this way Stephanie? You look unkempt” Jane said and Stephanie sighed sadly.
“Like I said earlier, I have been eating from hand to mouth. I have no job, nothing to show forth” Stephanie said crying and Jane held her hand.
“Don’t feel sad about it, Stephanie. I can help you”
“You will?” Stephanie asked, smiling.
“Yes I will. How about you work here as cleaner. It’s the only available job right now”
“Thank you so much Jane. It’s better than nothing, thank you” Stephanie said, trying to hug Jane, but Lucas pulled Jane to his side.
“Can we talk for a while?” He asked and Jane looked at him.

“What do you want to talk about, Lucas?” Jane asked when they got to the hallway of her company.
“You’re joking about giving Stephanie a job here, right?”
“She needs my help, Lucas”
“I know, but have you forgotten what she did to you? She almost killed you before!”
“I haven’t gotten about it, Lucas, but we can continue living in the past. Look at her Lucas, it so obvious she’s suffering. I just want to help her just like you have helped me”
“Our case is different, Jane. It’s Stephanie we’re talking about here. What if she attempt to kill you again? I’m worried about you”
Jane went closer to Lucas and hugged him. “I know you are worried about me, Lucas, I am going to be fine, trust me”
“Just be careful okay, I’d go nut if something happens to you” He said, and Jane smiled, tightening the hug.
“I will” She said, and Lucas patted her.
Stephanie who was secretly spying on them, brought out her phone and she dialed Rebecca’s number. She picked at first ring.
“How did it go?” Rebecca asked.
“It went well Ma. Rebecca. You were right when you said Jane is a softie. She felt sorry for me after seeing how unkempt I looked” Stephanie said, and Rebecca smirked.
“She’s still the same Jane after all”
“Now that I am here, what’s your plan?”
“Keeping spying on her, I will tell you what to do next”
“Alright Ma. Rebecca, but make sure you help me get into the movie industry like you promised” Stephanie said.
“I don’t go back to my words, you will get a role in the upcoming Netflix series if you continue doing like I command you”
“Your wishes is my command, Ma. Rebecca” Stephanie said and smirked.

≤ ADRIAN’S MANSION ≈ NIGHT ≥
Isa sits on her bed writing on her diary. She felt so happy because she spend the entire day dancing with Kayla.
★ Dear Diary… I’m so happy today, such that if the world stops now, I have nothing to regret. Kayla is still friends with me, and we did a video together. Thanks to her, I now have a TikTok account, and I am gaining lots of followers in just twenty-four hours after I opened my account. She’s really fun to be with, and a good dancer to. I wish I can spend more time with my sister without Xiaomi joining us. I know it’s wrong, but I don’t like Xiaomi. I feel she’s trying to take Kayla from me. Xiaomi is an extrovert and a good dancer like Kayla, and I feel like I am left out anytime she’s with Kayla. I wish she could just die, and leave Kayla for me… ★
Isa closed her diary after she was done and she sighed. “It’s a good thing I already blocked grandma and mom from seeing my post, that way they won’t know I am still friends with Kayla. I wish I can do more videos with Kayla, without Xiaomi being in it” Isa said, hugging her teddy bear.
Her phone rang and when she looked at the caller it was Xavier, and she smiled before picking up.
“Hi Xavier, Why did you call?” She asked, smiling.
“I don’t know. I just thought of you and I decided to give you a call”
“You were thinking about me” She asked with a smile.
“Yes. How are you?”
“I’m fine. How’s the online advertisement going? I’m sure Kayla isn’t giving you a hard time, right?”
“We haven’t been fighting for a while now, but I wished we were paired together for the advertisement”
“Why?”
“I feel more comfortable with you than when I am with Kayla”
“Kayla is a sweetheart, you just haven’t known her yet”
“She’s like a dictionary, she can never be read. After I am done with the advertisement, I’d love to spend time with you”
“Why?”
“Let’s take pictures together and you will draw about it. How do you see it?”
“I love the sound of that. Let’s spend time together after the advertisement becomes a success, but while you are at it, take care of my Kayla. She’s my half-sister”
“Yeah I know, Xiaomi already told me. But you both are different from each other. Maybe it’s because you both are from different mothers”
” Are you trying to say you love my personality more than Kayla’s”
“Yes I do. You’re better than Kayla in terms of character. I saw your dance video with Xiaomi and Kayla, you hit different”
“Thanks Xavier. I have to end the call now, I got something to do”
“Alright, goodnight. Dream about me” Xavier said and Isa laugh.
“Since you’re cute, I am going to dream about you” Isa said and Xavier smiled.
“Goodnight Xavier” Isa said and ended the call. She looked at her phone. “He’s fun to talk with” She muttered smiling.

“Xiaomi! Xiaomi!!” Richard called Xiaomi’s name running up to her.
Xiaomi stopped walking and turned to look at him. “Richard” She said in a voice that wasn’t audible.
“About last night…. I’m sorry”
“What happened Richard? You didn’t let talk before ending the call”
“Something happened that’s why”
“What happened Richard? It also seems like your manager knew you about it too”
“It’s something I don’t want to talk about, but I am sorry about what I did last night” He said, and Xiaomi smiled.
“You don’t have to apologize. You’re a celebrity and I… ”
“I know what you’re trying to say, but don’t say it, Xiaomi. Even if I am a celebrity, I shouldn’t have treated you that way. It’s my fault I’d love to make it up to you”
“How?” She asked and Richard smiled.
“Well let reschedule our meeting, and if you can sing well, I will be happy to feature you in my new album”
“You’re joking right?” Xiaomi asked, blinking.
“Well we will see if I am joking if it turns out that you’re a good singer” Richard said smiling. He turned to leave, but stop and look at her.
“I saw your dance video with Kayla and a cute girl, you were amazing. You’re extremely Sëx¥ when you dance” Richard said and winked at her before leaving.
Xiaomi cheek turned red immediately, and the small hairs in her body stood too.
*You’re extremely Sëx¥ when you dance* Richard’s voice echoed in her ear and she blushed the more playing with the wall.
“Should I continue uploading more of my Sëx¥ dance?” She muttered, giggling.

Beatrice kept walking in an horizontal line with Ethan, with their arms and hands meeting each other with every seconds that pass. Ethan has suggested she took a walk with him, and she complied to his demand.
“How far are we still going to walk?” She asked breaking the silence between them.
“Are you uncomfortable with me?” He asked, halting his feet and Beatrice the same. Beatrice sighed and took some part of her hair to the back.
“I’m comfortable with Boss Ethan, I just find it awkward that you’re walking with a commoner like me”
“Who called my wife a commoner?” He asked.
“Wife? Boss Ethan, why are you calling me your… ”
“Isn’t it obvious that I love you or should I make it obvious?” He asked walking close to her, and his hands slowly went to her waist.
“Boss Ethan, I already have two kids who are 15 years old. I gave birth at a tender age and I… ”
Ethan placed his index finger on her lips, cutting her short.
“I don’t care about that, all that matter is my love for you” He said, claiming her lips. It took some seconds before Beatrice reciprocated to the kiss, with birds chirping at the sky, making it so melodical.

Kayla gasped when she came out from the school building and saw it was already late. She and Xavier has been working on the advertisement project.
“It’s already late. I didn’t know we spend so much time in the broadcasting room”
“It was worth it because you were amazing” Xavier said, cleaning his camera. Kayla looked at him and scoffed.
“Is this you complimenting me?” She asked.
“I was just saying the truth Kayla. Now I see why you’re the ambassador of Dior”
“That’s because they have good eyes for talented people, and I am so talented”
“Here she goes again, one compliment she’s already so full of herself”
“Of course I have to. This is the first time you’d be complimenting me, so I need to used it to the fullest so you won’t change your mind tomorrow” Kayla said.
“I won’t change my mind, Kayla. You’re annoying sometimes, but I realize one thing today” Xavier said looking at her.
“Which is?”
“You’re extremely beautiful when you’re on camera”
“I thought you said my beauty was overrated?”
“You’re beautiful, Kayla… Extremely beautiful” He said.
Kayla looked at him, and before she could say a word, her heart slowly began to beat.
