“Have you found anything yet?* Mole asked
“No I haven’t, but….”
Gator couldn’t complete his statement as Mole banged the desk.
“Boss gave me one week to find the package and are now you mean there is still no lead? it’s been three days already!! How on earth do you want me to believe that the package mysteriously disappeared with a mysterious suspect leaving no trace” Mole half yelled.
“Maybe you need to learn patience. I was trying to say there’s a lady I saw in a footage who might be our clue” Gator said.
“What do you mean?”
“The footage was wiped but I hacked into the security footage of a cafe nearby.” Gator said while zooming the back view of a lady wearing a denim Jacket.
‘The footage captured her leaving the location where the package could have been five minutes before we arrived so presently she is our only suspect” Gator said
“But how are we going to find this lady seeing that her face is blocked” Mole asked curiously.
“I wonder why I was placed below you when obviously I’m far wiser than you” Gator said while Mole glared at him.
“Go straight to the point”
“Well this Denim Jacket in this picture is one in the country meaning the owner is possibly rich. So all we have to do now is to look for the store where the cloth was bought and ask who the buyer is” Gator said as he crossed his legs on his desk to annoy Mole.
“Then get ready. We are leaving in a bit. There’s no more time to wasted” Mole said walking away.
***RISE MANSION***
“So, don’t I need an explanation?” Dina asked staring intently at Jewel as though she could read through her.
Jewel swallowed her spit. She didn’t know what to say. She had promised Luke to contact his friend today so they could look for a way to get into the euphorium but now Dina is here. She didn’t know what to tell Dina.
What could she say ‘DINA I MET A GHOST AND THIS GHOST IS NONE OTHER THAN THE FAMOUS MUSICIAN THAT WENT MISSING, LUKE’
She just couldn’t. Dina would think she’s insane.
“I’m waiting” Dina said breaking Jewel from her thoughts.
“Huh, the things, um, um, I, em, well, I….”Jewel stammered
“Cat got your tongue?” Dina asked staring straight into Jewels eyes as though she was seeing through her soul.
“Just tell her” Luke whispered into Jewels. The way Dina was staring at Jewel was making feel like Dina could also see him. Dina’s stare was becoming too much.
Jewel looked at Dina and breathed in still not having the courage to tell her.
Dina stared at Jewel. It’s not that she’s isn’t happy that Jewel is returning back to her old cheerful self but she just needs an explanation on the sudden change. She needs to known at least for the sake of their friendship.
“We are besties right????” Dina asked and Jewel nodded.
“Then why can’t you just say it. Not like I’mma kill you”.
“Well the truth is that…” Jewel said holding the hem of her clothe.
“I recently joined a reading club” Jewel said and paused to see Dina’s reaction but her face was blank.
“Well I mean to say I created a reading club with someone that was why I was able to answer the question in class” Jewel said with a smile.
“Your dressing and then sudden boldness?” Dina asked again.
“Well, um, grandma changed my closet. She made me change my pattern of dressing. As for the boldness, grandma has been my source of courage” Jewel said as she unconsciously bit her bottom lip.
Dina looked at Jewel. She stood and picked up her bag with a sad smile.
“You are leaving already??? I thought you were going to spend the night??? and you just arrived” Jewed said surprised about Dina’s sudden departure.
“Doughnut head” Dina said turning around.
“Jewel, we’ve been friends since Kindergarten. I was there when you first broke a teeth” Dina paused with a sad chuckle
“Why the sudden sad mood?” Jewel asked
“I was there when you lost your dad. I was there for you when your mom stopped coming home. I was there fer you when you locked yourself in the bathroom for three days while I tried breaking the door. I’ve been with you for years that I know when you’re lying, Jewel” Dina said as her eyes started turning teary.
“Dina…”
“Don’t” Dina stopped Jewel from saying wh@tëver she wanted to say
“We promised we wouldn’t lie to each other. No secret. I’m glad you have come back to the Jewel I first met, but i’m sad, no, I’m broken that you would lie to my face. Really??? After everything we’ve been through? What’s so hard about the truth that you don’t want to tell me, huh??” Dina said as a tear escaped her again
“Dina I’m…” Jewel said
“So you still won’t say it???” Dina asked letting the tears flow freely.
“I’m sorry” Jewel said as a tear slid down her eyes.
“Maybe I was the only one clinging onto this friendship” Dina said as she left the mansion.
“Jewel, you should have just told her” Luke said after witnessing everything.
“And you think she’d believe me, after everything I’ve been through??? She would think I have finally gone crazy. And the last thing I want is for her to invite a doctor to come check up on me” Jewel half yelled
“But still, she has been a part of your life for long. I still think she deserves the truth. Think about it” Luke said disappearing.
“Did he really have to go? Why does everyone, leave me when I need the most huh???? Mother nature, why are you so cruel?” Jewel asked, her voice breaking as she cuddled her self behind a chair.
“Maybe I was born to be alone”
