AT THE HOSPITAL
Sofia fluttered her eyes open and looked around to capture her surroundings
“Hey, you’re awake” Anderson said besides her and took hold of her hand
“Are we in a hospital?” she mumbled lowly
“Yes you were bleeding and in a lot of pain ,you fainted after—”
“Nothing happened to our child right?” she cut him off and stared at him
“No,nothing happened to our child” he kissed her palm
Sofie blushed and stared at him “It’s the first time you’re showing that much affection and care for me”
He suddenly let go of her hand and looked away “I’ll go and call the doctor” he stood up and walked to the door
“Anderson..” she called softly “I.. I love you”
He halted on his steps and turned back to her slowly
“Marry me” he suddenly said in a serious tone
“A..Are you serious?” She stuttered while staring at him dumbfounded
“Dead serious” he smiled
“Of course I’ll marry you silly!” she squealed and he laughed a lil
“Great! I’ll be back” he winked at her and went out
“Ohh my god it’s finally happening!” Sofie giggled with a wide grin “I’m finally getting married!!”

“We’ll leave you two to talk” Grandpa Paul and he left with the elders
“Please calm down okay?” Mrs Xuan rubbed Millicent’s back gently before going out
Millicent waited till everyone is out and she rushed to close the door and turned to her
“What is it that you want? Is it money? I can give you all of his money if that’s what you want!” she shouted at the poor woman
“I don’t want your money ma’am,I only came here because my son had to be there for his father’s funeral and also seek help from you” she said softly while rocking her son who was about to sleep
“How come I don’t know about you? And what kind of help do you need?” she arched her brow
“Please sit” the lady said and Millicent pulled a chair and sat down facing her
“My name is Abigail Stanley and I was Tyson’s PA,Seven years ago……”
‹‹FLASHBACK
Abigail walked into the elevator panting heavily
“Gosh I’m so late!” she muttered and dragged her skimpy skirt down
She was wearing her best friend’s pencil skirt since she accidentally burner hers,it was smaller and hugging her curves too much but she had no choice since this company was too strict with its dressing code
The elevator finally opened and she ran to her just next to Tyson’s who was the CEO
When she got in she sat down to catch her breath and soon after the telephone rang and she picked up immediately
“Come to my office ,now” Tyson spoke and hung up immediately
She groaned and stood and left to his office,she knocked lightly on the door and and she walked in when he answered
“Sir,you said you wanted—”
“Close the door and lock it” he shut his laptop and looked at her
She reached for the door and closed and locked it
“You’re an hour late! ” he thundered and he stood up
“Sir I’m sorry! It was traffic and ..and.. I’m sorry!” she immediately went to her knees
“Get up!” he walked towards her and she rose to her feet “I won’t fire you!” he smirked
“Thank you so much sir I’m very grateful” she smiled with tears in her eyes
“But you will have to pay me….” he held her chin gently “with a little something” he lifted her chin up and leaned in to kiss the crook of her neck
“S..Sir?” her voice shook as she stared at him in total disbelief
She was so shocked that she couldn’t move from her spot
“Just one round,it won’t hurt I promise” he whispered and nibbled on her earlobe
“No” she pushed him off
“What did you say?” his eyes darkened
“I said no!” she moved back
“You Bîtch!” he slapped her hard across her face and she fell in the process
He got on her and lifted her,she thrashed with all her might but he was stronger
He threw her on the couch and tore her top
“Please I beg of you! Don’t do this!!” she cried and he only smirked
“Nobody can see you? I’m going to enjoy this!” he laughed and proceeded in getting rid of the rest of her clothes by force

“And that’s how he took advantage of me” Abigail sniffed in forcing back the tears that were threatening to fall
“I’m sorry you went through all that” Millicent softened and held her hand across the table “Then,did you tell anyone?”
“I did but no one believed me,Tyson was more influential and powerful at that time you know that”
“I know” she looked down”till he messed up and lost his job”
“He made me look like a liar wanting to ruin his reputation and made sure I never get any job ever again” she whispered “Before I knew it I was pregnant,I was so busy with trying to prove my innocence that I didn’t think of the possible outcome of what he did to me” she sighed “I wanted to come to you and give you the child to adopt because I knew I couldn’t take care of the child,I also knew at that time you and him we’re trying to make a baby but it was impossible”
“How did you know and how was it impossible?” Millicent stared at her in confusion
“Being his PA I literally knew everything about him,once a friend of his who was a doctor suggested to do a test to check his fertility and he agreed because he couldn’t understand why you guys couldn’t have a child,he found out that his chances of having a child were very slim and if he’s lucky he can only have one child,I overheard it all” she looked at Millicent
“After that he blamed me for not giving him kids!” Millicent fired up
“All I want from you is to connect me to his family because I have no money to hire someone to find them for me or to travel and look for them, please my son didn’t get a chance to have a relationship with his father and it’ll be better if he has one with his family” she pleaded “I didn’t come here to cause any trouble I promise”
Millicent stood up and walked to her side “I’ll be glad to help,from one broken and abused woman to another” she smiled and hugged Abigail
“Thank you” Abigail let the tears she has been holding fall free

“Is everything okay there?” Catherine spoke into the phone while staring at the sunset
“Everything is okay, I’m having so much fun here!” Jasmine giggled over the phone
“I’m glad you’re having fun,how is Nanny the others? ” she smiled
“Everyone is okay,thank you for letting me stay with you” she said softly
“It’s okay,umm we’ll speak tomorrow okay? Bye” she hung up
“Finally,you were taking forever” Xavier scoffed and hugged her from behind
“Five minutes is not forever” she chuckled
“Close your eyes” he whispered into her ear sending shivers down her spine
“Okay” she bit her lip and closed her eyes
Xavier shoved his hand into his pocket and took out a mini box,he held it before her eyes and opened it
“Open your eyes Mi amor” he said huskily
Catherine slowly opened her eyes and gasped when she saw the most beautiful and shiny ring she has ever seen,that one could spot from miles away
“Xavier!” she turned to him
“Marry me Mi amor,I can’t wait anymore” he muttered with a serious tone
“Y..Yes! Yes I’ll marry you!” she laughed with tears in her eyes and he pulled her into a bone crushing hug before slipping the ring into the slender finger
“I love you so much Mi amor,I found a home in you… you’re my life and I will die protecting you and all our children.I thought love didn’t exist but you showed me that real love exists,thank you for making me the happiest and luckiest motherf*cker in this f*cken world,thank you for giving me a chance to be a father even though I know nothing about kids” he chuckled
“Me too” she laughed “But we’ll learn together,I love you Cole and i want to spend the rest of my life with you” she smiled
“Forever and ever,till eternity” they said simultaneously and bursted into laughter afterwards
He paused and looked at her with a changed Mood
“What’s wrong?” she frowned
“I haven’t been completely honest with you,and now that we’re together and about to take this step I feel like I should come clean about everything” he muttered
“W. ..what are you talking about?” she narrowed her eyes
He kissed her forehead and reached for his jacket and took out a gun and held it up
“A gun! W …What are you doing with that?” she stepped back
“Catherine I—” he paused when he saw a red dot just on her tummy “Catherine!” he pulled her aside just in a Nick of time
A bullet came through the window and blew the lamp standing against the wall
“Fuçk!” he pulled her to him protectively and gently sat her next to the bed “Stay here” he said to her sternly and she nodded
More bullets flew from outside and shot everything in the room
Xavier peeped and aimed for one of the men that were shooting and shot him on his arm
“Get my jacket Amor! And call Patrick” He exchanged bullets with the snipers while Catherine crawled on the floor and grabbed his jacket,she crawled back to the side of the bed and took out his phone with shaky hands
“Got it!” she unlocked the phone and searched for Patrick’s contact
“Hurry up!” he shouted and she jumped out and called Patrick immediately
Xavier shot at three men and only two were remaining but his bullets had already run out
Suddenly the door flung open and Don rushed in and shot at both men effortlessly
“Boss are you alright?” he looked at them and rushed to the window to double check if there were no snipers left
“Mi amor,are you okay?” he pulled her to him and hugged her tight
Catherine was shaking as a leaf and no words came out of her mouth even when she tried to speak
“I’ll take the rest of the family to the safe house boss” Don said and Xavier nodded and he left
“Mi amor talk to me” he begged slowly “Please say something”
“Y..You h..have a gun a …and those…” she struggled to speak
“I’ll explain everything in the car,come on” he scooped her up and rushed downstairs to his car
He put her in the passenger’s seat and fastened her seatbelt before hopping into the driver’s side and drove out
Catherine took some deep breaths to call herself down
He looked at her once and looked back at the road , he wanted to laugh at how silly she looked but he knew that would out him into more trouble and he just bit his lip
“W … What’s going on here!” she suddenly snapped and faced him
“Okay calm down,I …I don’t know how to put this, I’m a mafia boss….I have a secret warehouse where all our dealings happen but trust me Mi amor I want to quit to keep you and my family safe”
“You’re a what!” she shrieked
“My family has been in this mafia works for years and it has been passed down from one generation to another,my father denied it when my grandfather stepped down for him and—”
“Is Anderson part of this too?” she cut him off
“No, Anderson has no idea, he’s too soft that’s why we didn’t involve him in any of this,as I was saying when my father rejected being a mafia boss…all hell broke loose ,my family was regarded as a target because once a mafia….”
“Always a mafia” she completed
“I stepped in and took his position just to save my family,at that time I didn’t care about anything else ,I had no other weakness besides my family that’s why I remained untouchable,until you came in… you’re my weakness Catherine and i have to protect you at all times but I want to quit,just for you” he glanced at her
“I have a mafia boss as the father of my child and my soon to be husband!? I can’t do this! I can’t put my and my child’s life in danger” she pulled the ring off her finger
“What do you mean by you can’t do this Catherine? Answer me!” he snapped but she kept shut “I agree I’m not an ordinary man, I’m a very bad..bad man Mi amor but I’m surrendering everything just for you? Isn’t that enough for you? Damnit Catherine answer me!” he stopped the car
“Well maybe if you were more like Anderson things would’ve been different!!!” she fired back and when she realised what she said she slapped her mouth
Xavier clenched his jaw and fists and hit the steering wheel hard before storming out of the car
“Xavier!” she quickly undid her Seatbelt and got out of the car too
She was about to go to him when her phone suddenly rang and she hesitated in answering it but answered it anyway
“Hello?”
“Ma’am she…she took Nanny and…and” Dora stuttered over the phone
“Okay calm down and tell me what’s going on Dora!?”
“That girl…J..Jasmine took Nanny,sh..she had a gun to her head and forced her to leave with her” she sobbed “ma’am we’re so scared!”
“Jasmine took Nanny? She … she” the line went dead “Hello Dora! Dora talk to me!!!”
