Celia gently opened her eyes the following morning welcomed by throbbing headache. The last thing she remembered was grabbing one of the wines in the wine cabinet and almost emptied the bottle.

“Oh my, so how did I got to my room?” she thought, trying to remember what happened.

She removed her blanket and was surprised to see her blouse lying by the bedside confusing her more.

Her knee ache as she was about to leave and started wondering how she was able to drunkly go to her room and off her blouse in the attempt of showering.

“That doesn’t make sense,” she grumbled, and went to the bathroom.

As the water wet her body, it felt like hangover cure and she remembered everything that happened the other night.

“What?!” she screamed, and left the bathtub immediately trying to remember everything carefully.

“Yes, he carried me to my room, and I kissed him, and he kissed back, and, and, and what? No, no, no. What really happenedddddd?” she screamed, matching her feet on the tiles which made her carelessly slip and fall.

“Haaaaa…” she cried, as she hit her head hard on the tiles.

Her vision went blur instantly and before she could cry out for help, she passed out.

Lord Dom couldn’t sleep all night after what he remembered, he didn’t recall all the event that happened that night but he was able to remember from the part of someone stabbing him with a syringe. He couldn’t identify who did it but whoever it, but it was a man and considering thier closeness, he sense it was someone he was close to so he fill his phone and dialed Jake’s number immediately.
*
FLASHBACK***
*
Lord Dom felt dizzy the moment a man injected him with the syringe from behind. He turned around and the man wanted to hit him but he was quick to fight back. He wasn’t in his right self so he was no match for the man, therefore, he left the moment he successfully knocked the man down — to find an escape or a place to hid, he heard a loud cry for help from one of the rooms and he found himself going there.

He entered the room and got rid of the pervert but he couldn’t ignore the young lady that looked helpless.

“Are you ok?” he found himself asking, and she shook her head.

“I’m not ok,” she muttered in a low whisper, and moved her lips to kiss him.

He wasn’t a gentleman, he kissed her back hungrily. It felt like an escape real world, from the unknown attacker. At that instant, she saved him.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
He was engrossed in his thoughts when Aria barged into his room.

“Daddy, it’s Celia…” she cried.

Before she could conclude whatever she was saying, he ran to Celia’s room and met her on the bathroom floor.
**
**
Celia opened her eyes at the hospital, and instantly remembered everything that happened to her.

She touch her head slightly and gently sat up when the door slugged open and Aria ran in.

“Celia, should I get the doctor?”

“No, I’m fine… I guess,” she grumbled.

“The door opened again and Lord Dom walked in accompanied by a doctor.

“Aria, come with me,” he called out and Aria went to him, together, they both left the ward.

The doctor checked everything necessary before leaving, and Lord Dom went in later.

“I… I’m sorry…”

“I don’t give second chances,” he muttered, and she battled her lashes in fear wondering what he plan on doing to her.

“I…”

“But I’ve given you three chances already because Aria chose you. The first rule was for you to take care of yourself, you’ve to be at your best if you want to do your job properly, but look where you are!”

“Why are you getting angry at me? It’s not like I want to slip and fall!”

“Is that your justification?”

“Do I owe you an explanation?!” she snapped.

She has been through a lot already, and doesn’t care if she gets in his bad side when he obviously can’t hurt her because of his daughter.

“What?”

“I’m the one who got hurt, do I still have to endure these torture as well?” she lament and broke down in tears.

He looked at her perplexed, at times he ponder about her healthiness wary that she might have bipolar disorder considering the way her mood changes every second.
**
The doctor advised her to remain in the hospital to rest for the day, but Lord Dom insisted on discharging her, so they ordered a ride to the island.

The ride on the seaplane to their house made her seasick and when they arrived home, she went straight to bed.

She didn’t think of taking a shower considering what happened so she went to sleep in fear and had a nightmare. Her reoccurring nightmare whenever she was sick. It wasn’t a nightmare but a memory, a memory that collide with the incident that happened when she was a child, the most traumatic moment of her life.

*** THE NIGHTMARE ***
*
Five years old Celia shivered in cold after getting drained by the rain when her father kicked her out.

She was able to sneak back in when he left the house, shivering from cold and hunger.

She wrapped herself in a blanket and fell asleep on the cold floor, but she woke up later at midnight when she heard lighting struck, scaring her.

The electricity was out and they were also out of candles so there was no way to lighten up the room.

The sounds of heavy rainfall frightened her and she wrapped her body in fear, burning from fever.

The thunder boomed as it rained terrifying her more, and she wailed uncontrollably.

“Daddy…” she cried, covering her ears.

She was alone in the dark room and the fear of the thunder was frightful.

“Mummy… why…?” she cried.

Lord Dom was having difficulty sleeping as usual, so he decide to go to the living room to drink but he stopped on his way when he heard silent whimpering from Celia’s room.

“What’s wrong with her?” he grumbled

He intend to continue on his way but he found himself retreating, and took the turn to her room.

“Gosh, why am I doing this? Why do I care?” he mumbled as he entered her room.

He turned on the light and she looked at him with teary eyes.

He let out a sigh unconcerned about her problems and spun around to leave but her silent whispers stopped him.

“Please… don’t go…” she cried.

He shot her a glare hissed quietly before turning to leave but he stopped on his feet, remembering the first time he ignored that cry.

FLASHBACK to 7 years ago***
*
Dominic kissed his wife goodbye and was about to leave the house but she held him back.

“Can’t you visit her later?” she grumbled.

“Anne, we already discussed this. I know I promise you to abandon everything and live with you, you also abandoned so many things for me but my mother is different, she’s bedridden and wants to see me. You once advised me to visit her, so why now?”

“Our baby is due, and you promised to be there when I give birth. I can’t do it alone,”

“I know. And I’ll be there. For you, and for our baby. I just need to see my mother before she travel abroad for her treatment,”

“I know it can’t be helped, I also wish I could travel with you…”

“Anne, remember that I always keep my promises,”

“I know. But what if you fail this time? What if the baby comes out before—“ she was saying, but he interrupted her with a kiss.

“I’ll be right back,” with that, he turned to leave.

“Please… don’t go…” she cried in a low whisper, but he ignored her and hurried out.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
That was the first promise he failed to keep, that was the first plead he ignored and was forever haunted by.

He turned around immediately and went to Celia

“I won’t leave… I’m going nowhere. I’m right here,” he assured holding her hands.

“Your hand… it’s so warm…” she muttered, and he squeezed her hand trying to fight back his tears.

She somehow reminded him of his last moment with the two women he ever loved.

FLASHBACK to 7 years ago***

Dominic rushed into the hospital and the few men guarding his mother’s ward bowed to him as he hurried in and his mother forced a smile upon seeing him.

“Mum, I’m sorry…”

“No, don’t be. I’m glad to see you. I thought you wouldn’t come, I was so scared…”

“I can’t do that. I had to leave, but that doesn’t mean I abandoned you,” he said, and held his hand.

“My son’s hand is so warm,”

“You should receive your treatment, and when you return, I’ll visit you with Anne and your granddaughter,”

“I’ve always wanted a female child, I’m glad to hear that you’re having one,”

“She is really beautiful, even from the scan,” he said, and she chuckled.

“So were you,”

“Anne came up with a name, Aria,”

“That’s a lovely name,”

“Yeah, that’s part of Anne’s charm,” he said, and gently squeezed her hand.

“Your hand… it’s so warm,” she muttered, and he smiled.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
That was the last time he saw his mother, that was the last conversation he had with her. She dled before she was transferred abroad.

At that moment, he blamed himself for abandoning his mother and abandoning his wife. But he abandoned his mother to elope with his wife, to live far away from his father, and he abandoned his wife to see his mother.

Either way, he failed his promise and he could only blame himself even though both situations couldn’t be helped.
**
**
Celia opened her eyes in the middle of the night and was startled to see Lord Dom seated by her bed side holding her hand.

She flinched in fear and jabbed her hand away which made him open his eyes.

“What… what are you doing here?” she stuttered.

“You told me to stay, you begged me not to leave and you said my hand was warm,” he said, and she instantly remembered.

“That… I was just so scared of being alone, I’m sorry,”

“Why were you scared? No one is going to harm you,”

“I know… but my subconscious wasn’t thinking. I’m always alone, whenever I was sick I was always alone. While I was young, and even now, so I was scared as always. I hate being alone, it’s scary, but it can’t be helped,”

“You’re right, it can’t be helped. There are some situations that can’t be helped but we can always find a solution if there is one,”

“You are the first, the first person to stay by my side when I was sick. Emma would‘ve been there, but she was never around. Thank you,” she muttered, and he gently squeezed her hand.

“You aren’t alone anymore,”

“Really? Will you be by my side?” she asked, and he found himself nodding.

Remembering the way he failed his wife and his mother made subconscious make an unnecessary promises.

“Yes, you aren’t alone anymore,” he muttered, and placed a kiss on her fingers.
