Ethan scoffed and later smiled.

Lauren said. She knew telling him about Alex could draw Ethan away from her.

“Can I ask what happened between you and Ethan?
Ellie asked suddenly.
“He seems sad throughout today”

Lauren objected quickly making Ellie suspect something.

Ethan, Stephan, Ellie, Jessica, Beth, and the rest of the recovery department are all seated in the conference room waiting for Lauren.
Jessica looked at Ethan again. He is still sad and heartbroken. She sighs like she is fed up with trying to cheer him up.
Lauren walked in and everyone stood up in respect. She walked to her seat and managed to catch a glimpse of Ethan’s face. Ethan was looking down at the table in front of him.
“Good afternoon, everyone”
She started.
“Afternoon, boss…
Why are the administration and the recovery department being called for the meeting?”
Beth asked.
“That’s because that’s the two departments that really run the company, especially the administration department”
Lauren replied.
Beth and the other members of the recovery department had a smile on their faces.
Now, they are being recognized as an important department in Linde Plc.
“So the reason I called for the short and brief meeting is because am leaving Linde Plc”
She said.
Everyone was taken by an adrenaline shock. They look at each other.
Ellie was the only one who wasn’t surprised. Ethan just stared at her without saying a word.

I only wish he managed it well and you guys cooperate with him”

And for why am leaving for eight months?”

She said and smiled.

Beth, Jessica, and the others looked confused. They don’t understand.

Lauren looked at Ethan and Ellie. And then back at everyone.
“Am expecting a baby soon”

Beth asked.

Ethan came in and collapsed on the sofa.
“Today was a stressful day for you, I guess”

Lauren lay on her bed thinking about what happened between her and Ethan at the office.
She couldn’t just take her mind off their conversation feeling guilty she made him sad all day.
“Was I too harsh?”
She asked herself.
“Maybe, I was.. if anyone could be rejected that way, he or she would also be heartbroken”
Her phone rang. It was Harry. She picked up the call and placed her phone against her ear.
“Evening, Harry…
“Miss Lauren, is something wrong with Ethan?”
He asked.
“Yeah, your friend and I had some intense conversation today at work”
“Oh… Cos he seemed moody and sad as he came in from work.
What really happened between you two?”
“I don’t think am in the best position to tell you that, Ethan can”
She replied.
“Okay?,
I guess it’s the relationship between you guys, am going to stay out of it”
“Yeah…
About the money I promise to send, am going to wire the transfer before the end of today.
Just promise me Ethan won’t know about this. He shouldn’t know the money comes from me or he isn’t going to accept it”
Harry smile.
“Am not going to, Ethan wanted to cry when he realized he spent a lot on just a date he planned and I know he will be really glad to have at least seen some money to hold on to”

She also said and ended the call. She sighed and threw her phone on the bed a little meters from her.
A knock came on her bedroom door.

Lauren stood up and walked to the door. She opened it slightly.

“I got pizza but I couldn’t finish it alone”

She wanted to close her room door but Alex stopped her using his feet to block the door.

You can’t just be idle in this room of yours”

“You’ve been alone every time, just come have pizza with me, I mean no harm”
And I guess you must be hungry also”
Lauren looked at him for a while.
“Alright”

“I will join in a minute”
She added and shut her door.

She replied.
