Chapter 18❤️
Logan finally drove into the big compound after driving past four gates and stopped the car, he turned to Orla who was dumbstruck by the sight before her.
If she had thought Logan’s personal house was amazing, then she’d be pretty shocked right now, because his father’s house was like a paradise.
Their house was built on a sort of mountain top and was about three kilometers away from any other building.
The fence covered a thousand acres of land which was mostly empty, the drive-in was just a tarred road with tall beautiful trees at the sides.
Some domestic animals like monkeys could be seen roaming freely in that phase of the property. The gates at each point in the driveway were about two hundred meters away from each other and Orla became curious when they crossed the second gate but had still not gotten to the building.
What puzzled her the most was that the gates opened on their own. What she didn’t know was that they were modernized emotion detector gates.
They had X-ray cameras attached to detect the person in the car and only opened to recognized faces. Also, if the driver was feeling tense or scared, it would not open automatically, and would require a password to unlock.
The reason for that was to prevent any sort of threats from getting into the building. For example, if a person was driving with a gun pointed to their head, they would be nervous and signal the gate of danger, so it wouldn’t open.
Once it refuses to open, it sends a signal to the castle, warning whoever was there or impending danger, giving them time to prepare for wh@tëver was coming!
I know, technology right?
Not like it was that important at the Stewart’s castle, they were werewolves after all and can face any threat they encounter, but it was there just for extra protection and to avoid being taken unawares.
Sometimes, it was used by the family members to warn the people at home that they were coming back with humans, to avoid accidentally exposing their secrets.
“What. The. Fuçk.” Orla muttered slowly, staring in disbelief through the window.
She was marveled by the size and beauty of this magnificent house, in fact… it would be safe to call it a castle.
The building went high up to the sky like a penthouse and the walls were made of beautiful bricks. She couldn’t count the number of cars in the compound.
Two handsome men in beautiful uniforms walked to them and opened the car doors for them, before standing at attention like statues, saluting them.
Logan grabbed his wallet and then smiled at her. “Come on, we need to go inside immediately,” Logan uttered, bringing her attention back to him.
“Who are these?” Orla asked immediately with surprise etched on her face.
“Oh, they are my family’s security details,” he replied calmly, like it was nothing extraordinary.
“Huh? Is your father the president?” She asked in excitement, “or wait… is your mother the queen of England?” She queried, a serious expression on her face.
Logan chuckled, trolled by her reaction. “No, but my parents know both the president and the queen of England, both Queen Elizabeth the first and second,” he replied and laughed.
Orla’s jaws dropped in shock. “What? This is amazingly fantastic!!” She blurted out with shock on her face, mesmerized by her surroundings.
Logan got down from the car and she did so too; the men in blue and white uniforms were still standing there, waiting for instructions.
Orla stared at them in amazement, surprised by how they stood at one spot for this long, without even shaking or staggering for a split second, she doubted their eye lashes were even blinking; how was that even possible?
“Come on Orla,” Logan called out with a smile, as he was already at the threshold, right beside one of the long pillars holding the balcony.
She stopped staring at the security workers and ran after him, still staring around like a naive young lady who had just visited the city for the first time.
There were four chandeliers on the ceiling of the front veranda. Logan led the way and another two men in uniform pushed the large front door open for them.
“Oh. My. God.” Orla muttered again when she stepped into the hallway, her eyes bulged in surprise. She turned around slowly, admiring the place while mumbling ‘wow’
The hallway was so broad and long that it could contain another house, there were several doors on both sides and beautiful lights decorating the entire ceiling.
“We don’t have all day, Orla… you can explore later, let’s see my father first. You don’t want to see the old man howl, believe me,” Logan said with a smirk.
The front door was closed immediately they stepped in with one of the men standing on the inside, while the other guard was outside it.
Orla looked forward and noticed another large door at the other end of the hallway: there were guards there as well, she guessed it was the back exit of the building, but she was wrong.
Logan led her down the hallway and she was hoping that they would take one of the doors by the side but they didn’t. They kept walking till they got to the other door and the guards opened it.
They stepped out to the light and beheld another building. Orla’s eyes widened in surprise, she didn’t see that coming.
“Don’t tell me that we have to walk through another long hallway, please don’t,” she grumbled.
Logan chuckled. “Don’t worry, we are already at the front door,” he chuckled and climbed the small stairs at the threshold, then he offered her his hands. “You might want to hold on to me,” he said softly.
Orla felt fear spread into her as he said those words, she took his hand immediately and swallowed hard.
Logan opened the door and they came to face a huge beast with razor teeth at the other side of the door. It was standing on its two legs like a human.
“Arrrghhh!!!!!” Orla screamed in fright and jumped into Logan’s arms immediately; he had caught her like he expected her to react that way.
“Hey calm down,” Logan said to her immediately. “Leonard!!” He yelled at the monster.
Immediately, the creature went on its fours and transformed into a human in torn shorts.
Orla held unto his next with wide eyes, her heart racing: that was a shocking experience even for a werewolf like her.
“Relax, he is just a shifter,” Logan said to her, while she was breathing heavily.
The man smiled at them. “Sorry if I scared you, I had no idea that the Alpha was coming back with a guest,” he apologized. “Welcome home, Alpha.”
“What are you? A Lycan?” She asked with curiosity etched on her face, without coming down from Logan’s arms
Well, she loved it up there, feeling secure in his strong arms, and it’s not like Logan was ready to put her down anyway.
“No my lady, I am a hellhound, protector of the underworld.” He replied with a smile and a British accent.
“Why do you sound like you are from the past?” She asked teasingly, feeling at ease now.
He grinned. “I have lived five centuries, so you can as well say that I was born in the medieval times,” he replied and chuckled.
Just then, three people walked out from the inner room and paused, staring at them with puzzled faces.
Orla could guess that they were his family; one of them was male and he looked just like Logan, except he was older.
The other two were females, one of them middle aged and the other was a young lady.
Orla felt heat trickle down her face at the sight of them, the scenario was hilarious as both parties stared at each other in awkward silence, it was like both sides had seen a ghost.
“Is she injured or has my boy finally learnt how to be a romantic partner?” The older lady asked and the trio burst into laughter.
Logan put Orla down while chuckling and she looked down shyly.
“Mom, Dad, it’s so good to see you two, every time. You too Hazel!” He uttered.
“You finally brought your mate home, she is shy, I love her already,” Hazel said with a grin on her face.
Logan laughed softly. “Shut up Hazel, I didn’t even mention it, how do you know?” He queried.
“Don’t be silly brother, even if I couldn’t hear your mind, we are twins and so we share feelings, I could tell from the look you had in your eyes and the emotions I got off you that she was the one.
If you don’t want people to know things, you should try keeping it down in your head, it’s noisy in there,” Hazel replied and burst into laughter.
“Pry into my mind one more time and I would skin you alive, believe me it will take days to grow them back.” He threatened jokingly and they laughed.
“Welcome back son, would you come inside and introduce your mate to us or not?” His father finally spoke; he was obviously a man of few words.
Logan smiled and took Orla’s hand, then he walked into the sitting room with her: she was blushing.
“Everyone, meet Orla… Orla, meet my parents and my sister,” he introduced bluntly.
“Is that all you could say? You are always going to be boring, bro… I do pity your mate,” Hazel uttered and snickered at him.
Orla laughed softly, then she greeted his parents.
His father walked up to her and sniffed, then he turned back to Logan. “You haven’t done the needful,” he said softly.
Orla’s heart flipped on hearing that, she knew what the old man meant and the thought of that scared her.
“No dad, let’s talk about that later. As for now, let’s proceed to why I am here,” he replied.
“Hmm…” he groaned. “You are right, business before pleasure, I am glad you still remember my teachings, come with me,” his father said and turned around to leave.
The handsome old man took a few steps away and then he paused and looked back. “Welcome to the house, Orla.” He smiled before walking away.
Orla was shocked at how he knew her name, she was certain Logan didn’t say it, unless the father and son were mind linked the whole time.
“I will be back,” Logan said to Orla and walked after his father, a serious expression on his face all of a sudden.
Orla stood there nervously and watched him leave, it was just the ladies now because the hellhound had left as well.
“Don’t look so shy and awkward, come with me, I will show you around,” Hazel said to her and took her hand immediately.
Orla smiled at Logan’s mom and followed Hazel, she looked younger than Logan and had different looks: no one would easily believe they were twins.
Hazel led her into a corridor and then to a door. “This is my room, come in please ,” she said sweetly and opened the door.
“Thank you,” Orla replied and walked in, she was already feeling at home, now that it was just the youngsters.
“Of course, my brother must be lucky to have you. He is annoying at times, just ignore him,” she said and Orla giggled.
Well, she didn’t think so. Siblings always saw the bad in each other, and they would always fight, so she wasn’t surprised with Hazel’s comments on Logan.
If you asked her, it was the other way round: she was lucky to have Logan, and she couldn’t say how long this would last, but she would enjoy it while it lasts, and cherish it when it’s gone.
“um… stay here, let me get something,” Hazel said immediately and walked out of the door in a hurry.
Orla looked around and smiled, the room was very beautiful and the bed could hold four people without them having to touch each other.
The smile on her face disappeared when her eyes met a wallpaper of a half naked cowboy. The sight of those exposed abs and chest made that feeling come back- lust!!
“Oh no, not now, please not now,” she muttered silently, why did Hazel have to leave her!
To be continued!!
