CHAPTER 30 — DEATH AND RECONCILIATION.

✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯

Her hands shake as she holds her pen to write on the sheet of paper. Tears rolling down her cheek non stop – she is all alone. No family, no friends. If only, she could turn back the hands of time and do things differently, her life would’ve turned out better by now.

Wiping her tears away, she starts writing:

~*~

“By the time you find this letter, I’ll be gone – my misery ends. All my life, I have let envy and lust blind my thinking. I had one life to live and I messed up everything all for selfish gain. I hope as you all read this letter, you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me.

I’m sorry for every single pain and hurt I had caused you all. I lied and caused you all so much pain and heartache — destroyed your happiness and placed my needs above your own — even now.

By the time you see this, I’ll be gone. I know it is selfish of me to kill myself but I couldn’t find the will to leave anymore.

To Peter:

I hope you find peace and happiness.

To Jason:

My son, forgive me for lying to you all these years. Forgive me for placing the selfish need to stay with a man that didn’t love me above the need to see you happy. If any day you are ready to find your father, then just look under the bed in my room. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me, I love you.

To Monica:

My Darling daughter. I hope you’ll forgive your father and me for causing you so much heartache. Forgive me for turning you to my enemy. You were always, a determined and vibrant child and I drained the life from your eyes.

I could never forgive myself for causing you so much pain but I hope you move on, pursue your dreams and be the best version of yourself in life.

To Daniel:

Your mother was the best thing that ever happened to me. She stuck by me when I had no one and all I did was take advantage of her kindness. Please find it in your heart to forgive me – for separating you from your father and betraying your mother.

I hope you’ll forgive your father and make peace with him and your stepsister.

To Lucille:

My lovely therapist, for a long time you gave me hope. Hope that it wasn’t the end for me, hope that things will be fixed – and I thank you for that. For a long time, I felt useless, hopeless and fruitless – but you changed that.

You are one of a kind. Your words and encouragement always brightened my life, meeting you gave me a whole new perspective at life. You are just like your mother, always put other’s need before your own — your heart as pure as gold and I pray you find the happiness you deserve.”

Good bye,
Fiona.

She drops the pen and folds the sheet of paper in half. Her house and heart empty, she stands up and tugs the rope tied on the ceiling fan, making sure it is secured and tight.

“Oh, Lord, please forgive me.” Fiona gets on the table and wraps the rope around her neck. She then let’s go, causing the rope to tighten around her neck- making her choke as her body hangs in the air.

Within five minutes. Her body goes limp, her breathe cesses — Fiona is dead.

“Ashely! Please hear me out!” Daniel pleads, trying to catch up with her as she ambles away from him. “I know I hurt you.”

“Oh, really…” She drawled sarcastically, still walking away from him as if he didn’t exist. Wearing a black gown and an oversized coat, her hair tied in a neat bun.

“You can’t ignore me forever.” He spoke through gritted teeth, his arrogant tone made her stop.

“I can and I’ll…” She retorts’

“I’m sorry, I didn’t —”

“Well sorry isn’t going to cut it Daniel. We had been together for five years, we shared every secret, dream and hopes too. You pushed me away and you hurt me.” Her voice wavered.

“I know and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those awful things to you,” he closes the distance between them. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love you.” She stops and turns to him.

“And how I am I supposed to be sure that what happened won’t happen again – that you won’t push me away when things get rough.” Her eyes glistening with tears, she was hurt – he had pushed her away and she wasn’t sure he wouldn’t do it again.

“I was hurt Ashely and honestly I wasn’t thinking straight. . . but I promise I won’t ever do that again,” his eyes held so much regret. “I love you and I promise that from now on, I’ll never do anything that’ll ever hurt you.”

She smiles and without another thought, she pulls him in a warm embrace. “I love you too.” Her lips settle on his in a passionate kiss. They stand there, just reveling in their bodies – lips locked in passion – arms wrapped around each other not minding anyone.

“I missed you so much.” He said in between kisses.

“I missed you too.” She said, they break away staring at each other lovingly and they knew – they’d never let go of each other again.

**************************

Lucille stepped onto her corridor, a large black coat and black handbag in her hands. Her blonde hair tied in neat bun, dark circles under her eyes. She reaches into her bag and pulls out her key, unlocks the door and ambles into the house.

Nothing out of place in her apartment, she drops her items on the couch and moves to the kitchen to get a glass of water. She moves back to the living room with a glass of water in her hands – gulping it in one go as she plops on the couch.

She sighs and scratches her chin. So many things had happened the minute she took up Mrs Monet on her offer to be Dominique’s therapist. She found out about Fiona’s secret – the one she was so curious about. Lucille had also found out about her brother, her step sibling and the real reason her father had abandoned them.

So many events had happened…

Events that she was grateful for, despite everything.

She had finally come to terms about her past.

She had found her brother.

And…

She had found love.

Lucille couldn’t deny that she had fallen madly in love with Dominique. After Claire’s surprise visit, she had devoted herself to work and her therapy with Miss Carmine – to recover from the trauma – the mistress had caused. And slowly, she was regaining her memories little by little.

But none of these methods worked effectively to remove the thought of Dominique from her mind. . . or her heart. She missed him badly – his broad smile, his charm, his body against hers. She shivered in pleasure anytime she remembers their passionate nights.

Sighing, she stands up and moves to her bedroom where she changes into a more simple wear before coming back out. Settling on the couch, she picks up her glasses and puts her files on the table – ready to start working on them when a knock sounds.

“Who is it?!” She shouts from the living room, she knows she isn’t expecting anyone today. There is no answer. Placing her pen on the table harshly, she shambles towards the door and with a yank, pulls it open.

“Dominique…” Her eyes go wide, lips part in shock.

“Hey.” It’s been a week since she last saw him and now she wonders if the distance had taken a toll on him like it did to her because he looked. . .gorgeous. His black hair slicked back as always, clad in grey suit.

Dominique had thought long and hard before deciding to come here, he wasn’t sure what to do or say – now he was here. He took his dad’s advice and wasn’t going to let fear rule his life anymore especially now when he’d found the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

“What are you doing here?” He flinched at her cold tone. Well, he wasn’t expecting a warm welcome after everything that transpired between them.

“Lucille… I came here to apologize.”

“Save it! There is nothing to apologize for, you made your choice.”

He runs a hand through his chest, “I didn’t mean what I said.”

She rolls her eyes and scoffs. “yeah right.”

“I was sacred,” he said slowly. “You are the only person who made me feel things I swore I’d never feel again and the funny thing is – the emotions I feel when it comes to you is so much stronger.” For a minute, he saw a flash of emotion in her eyes.

“If what I feel for you cannot be compared to what I felt with Claire. . . I had picked myself up when she had left me but,” he moved closer until they were only inches apart. “I don’t know if I can cope without you. I’m in love with you Lucille Dumont and—”

“And nothing Dominique,” she interrupted with a sigh. “You made it clear that night that you can’t love me and I don’t want to feel guilty.”

“Guilty? Lucille, a day hasn’t passed by where I didn’t think of you.” Her cold facade dropped, knowing he had been plagued with the thought of her like she was with him.

Dominique continues, “I can understand that I’ve hurt you badly and I’ll do anything to make up for it.” She turned to the side, to stop him from seeing the tears in her eyes. She had to resist him.

“Your just saying that because you feel guilty.” The hurt in his eyes as she said those words made her heart ache but she has to be strong. “P-Please leave Dominique, nothing will ever happen between us again. As you said – it was just lust.”

His patience snapped, he rushes towards her – closing the little distance between them. Placing a hand on her chin, making her look up. “Look at me,” he demands.

Reluctantly, she obeys. Eyes locked, searching for any emotion. Dominique’s eyes held so much– “Look into my eyes Lucille and tell me what you see.”

Love. The emotion so overwhelming that she had to look away.

“Look at me.” He growled. She met his gaze once more. “Look at me and tell me that you don’t love me anymore. Tell me that our conversations, us growing together and our passionate nights meant nothing to you and I swear I’ll walk away and never come back.”

“I-I. . . I-I” Lucille stutters unable to tell lie to him. A moment of silence, “I can’t.” She finally said. In the heat of the moment, Dominique immediately claims her lips. She Mõ@ns in pleasure, it’s been so long since she felt him like this.

His hands wrap around her waist pulling her impossibly closer. She grabs his hair as their tongues battle for dominance. “I missed you so much, mon chéri.” He groans, pulling away quickly before his control snaps. Having her body close to his again never felt so right.

“I missed you too.” She admits and pulls him in for another kiss.

Hot. Sensual. Love.

“I’ll do anything to make it up to you, because I can’t go another day without you by my side. I love you Lucille Dumont, with all my heart.”

“I love you too. And I forgive you Dominique,” he beams. “But, I want us to take things slowly.”

“Wh@tëver you want mon chéri…” He smiles and kisses her again. They pull away quickly and just stand still gazing into each other’s eyes – knowing that they can face anything together as long as they have each other.

Their bodies entangled in the sheets that night, making love till the break of dawn – consummating their reunion. He’d showed her how much he had missed her so much and with every stroke, th-ru_st and feel – they knew that they had found their home with each other.
