CHAPTER 39
Lious arrived at the hospital immediately,the
nurses helped him in bringing Ella on a stretcher
in to the hospital.
“quick, where are the d@mn doctors?call them!.”
Lious said in such an angry and loud voice.
“Calm down sir, this is a hospital and there are
other patients” A nurse replied.
“If anything should happen to my fiancee and
my unborn child, I swear I’ll burn down this
building,” Lious yelled.
“Nora, quick call the doctor, Sydney help me
take her to the emergency ward,”The chief nurse
said immediately.
After she gave her orders, the nurses started
working according to the orders. Not too long
after, the doctor came out putting on his coat
and hanging his stethoscope on his neck, He
briskly walked towards the emergency ward.
“Doc, make sure my fiancee is saved,”Lious
said.
“She will be fine,I will try all my possible best Mr
Maxwell,”The doctor replied.
The doctor walked into the emergency ward, he
checked Ella’s heart beat, and the sound was
almost not heard.
“Quick, prepare toxicological consultations.” The
doctor said to one of the nurse.
After a minute of consultation, the doctor found
out that she was acute.”Get me the water fast.”
The doctor said.
Water is usually the first thing given to a
poisoned pregnant woman. A lot of it.
They forced about a liter of water into her
mouth before commencing the treatments.

“Let’s take this drink to a test lab.” Clark said.
“It will take time for the test results to be out, so
why don’t we do it this way. I’ll go to the party
and look for clues about what really happened
to Ella while you will go to the test lab.”Vera
said.
“That’s a good idea,I will get going now,”Clark
replied and left the party immediately.
Vera walked in circles, she didn’t know where to
start finding clues from. Just when she was
about to give up, an idea popped up her mind.
“The maid!” She shouted.
Vera hurriedly ran to the kitchen looking for the
maid who offered Ella a drink She searched, but
it was to no avail.
She palmed her face and was very frustrated at
the moment, suddenly her eyes sighted
something,it was a CCTV.
Vera then ran to the securities.
“Please I need the footage of what happened in
the party thirty minutes ago.” She said.
“What for?” One of the securities asked.
“It’s very important and urgent, that little footage
can save a life.” Vera said while breathing
heavily.
“Alright, give us a minute, and we will deliver it.”
the security man replied.
After few minutes of searching all the footages
and none were corresponding to the case on
ground, she found the footage which she was
looking for.
“Lia! ” She shouted.
“I have to inform Lious about this.” Vera said
and picked up her phone. She dialed Lious
number, and he picked up almost immediately.
“Lious, I’ve found the culprit. It’s no other person
than .”
“Then you know what? Inform the corps about
it. Make sure she hasn’t left the party, cus she
will pay dearly if anything should happen to my
baby and fiancee.”
Vera ended the call and started searching for
Lia everywhere while putting 911 on line. She
reported the case to them, and they promised
that they were on their way.
Vera searched every nook and cranny of the
building, but couldn’t find Lia. She concluded
that Lia had left the party.
Just then, Clark came in with the test results.
“Ella had polonium in her drink.”
“Oh my goodness! Polonium is a very deadly
poison and can lead to convulsion or even
coma when taken at a high dose. Good thing
Ella didn’t finish the drink.”
“So, did you find out who is responsible for the
poisoning?” Clark asked
“Lia… It was Lia.”
“Let’s head to the hospital now.” Clark said.
“No, I’ll wait here for the corps, you can go.”
“Alright, take care.” Clark said and started
leaving for the hospital.

“Lious, how is Ella?” Clark asked from afar after
sighting lious who was pacing around.
“I don’t know, I haven’t heard from the doctor. So
from you guys test results, what really
happened to Ella?”
“Ella was poisoned by…..” Before Clark could
complete his statements, the doctor walked in
and completed the statement.
“Polonium,Polonium is a very deadly poison
and can’t be cured.”
“What are you trying to say doctor?” Lious
asked curiously.
“Calm down sir,had it been you wasted a minute
in bringing Ella here,we would have lost her and
the baby. We succeeded in removing the poison
from her before it started eating her delicate
organs, but she will take few weeks to be on her
feet again and also the baby is safe,”The doctor
announce.
“Can I see her now?” Lious asked.
“Although,the patient needs rest but you can go
and see her,”The doctor replied.
“You mean we can go and see her?” A voice
said and they all turned back to see Vera.
Clark gave her a questioning look, she
understood and the look.
“The corps are on their way to arrest Lia so rest
assured she will be where she deserves to be
any minute from now,”Vera said.
“How is Ella and the baby doing?”Lious mother
asked immediately she arrived at the hospital.
“They are both save mum,”Lious replied.
“And what about the culprit?”Lious mum asked.
“They will be behind bars very soon mum,”Lious
replied.

Lia was soo happy that her plan was a
success,she was drinking and celebrating her
victory when the police barge into her mansion.
“You are under arrest Miss Lia for Murder,Food
poisoning,”One of the policemen said.
“I have done nothing wrong,”Lia replied.
“You have to remain silent or it will be use
against you, now take her,”The policemen said
and the other two handcuff her and drag her
straight to their vehicle.
“I did nothing wrong,”Lia yelled as she was
dragged by the policemen….
