Rollins scurried and met Maya who was about leaving the scene with a lylon bag in her hand.
Rollins walked up to her with his glasses on his face.
” Hello.. Maya” Rollins said. Maya couldnt recognize who was calling on her she wanted to make steps to leave.
” it is me Rollins ” He added.
” Wow! Is this you? I’m sorry I couldnt recognize you. You dress so cute and different ” Maya exclaimed looking at Rollins with surprises.
” Yeah, I know won’t recognize me that’s why I came. So, what are you doing here ” Rollins questioned.
” My mother sent me an errand to get something for her” Maya said.
” So are leading yourself home? ” Rollins said with smiles.
” Yeah, I was on my way home”
” Okay! But you shouldn’t be trekking home under this hot sun” Rollins said with pity.
” it fine just a normal thing ” Maya tried to decline the decision.
” No don’t say that, well those people you see over there are my parents and my little sis ” Rollins said pointing at a direction.
” Wow! That’s fantastic you even came a car” Maya said.
” Yeah! We came to eat and that’s one of my father’s cars” Rollins said.
“Really ” Maya exclaimed.
” Yeah please you need to board a taxi or something back home. The sun is too hot okay ” Rollins deep hand into his pocket and gave Maya two thousand naira.
” please I dont need it, why giving me money perhaps my house is just thirty minutes from here” Maya said.
” Thirty minutes it still far and you need it” Rollins declined glancing at her.
” But this money is too… ” Rollins cut in.
” Don’t complain okay ” he straight and handed over to Maya and she smiled.
” Hurry…! ” Rollins mum shouted from a distance notifying Rollins of their waiting.
” Thank you, bye! ” Maya said and left.
* * * Two Weeks Later * * *
Sharon’s mom came out with a Bible and a rosary I’m her hand while Sharon stood neat and beautiful on her school uniform.
” I want you to take this with you, this in the other hand can be something bad you know anything can happen on the way” Sharon’s mom said.
” Mom those things are not necessary, I prayed before about to leave. Nothing will happen to me mom ” Sharon said.
” Okay! But take this rosary with you and make sure you wear it, nothing will happen to you my daughter ” Sharon’s mom said. Sharon collected it and rushed outside.
The bus driver arrived the school premises and ready to take the students for excursion. All the SS3 students set with with their jotter and pens on their hands.
Mr Frosh assigned to follow them to the excursion and figure things out. The principal walked out of the office on his glasses and his hands on his pocket walking majestically looking at the students faces.
” I want you all to go into the rural area and survey with level headed and reasonings. Make sure you jot those things you find in the bush, rural area, people there and what you see also observed during your troll. This will help you all in your exams, do you understand? ” The principal said.
” Yes sir” The students chorused.
All the students bashed into the bus including Jennifer, Maya, Rollins, Frederick, Sharon and Joan.
The bus kicked off and students filled excited and happy. Some few minutes they released a song which everyone starts singing and clapping at a time.
Everybody sang exception of Jennifer who stared out the window observing the ambiance with thoughts.
Maya sighted her from backseat on the fifth roll while Jennifer on the second role folding arms.
The students kept releasing and changing songs which Sharon lead with the chorused.
The bus slashed it way to the rural area that leads to Timba Community. The way leads to the innermost parts which trees and bushes starts appearing, birds on the tress sings in different angles and dimension in the bushes.
All the gist and discussion made in the bus Jennifer kept silent without contributing anything to it.
The driver kept driving forward to get to the particular community where the excursion is going to be carried out.
They get to the parts where bums where made on the road, the bus slowed down by the side of the bush strange sounds heard and birds sing too.
While trying to survive the bums some strange groups of birds flew to the bus screen. They students screamed…
