THE WITCHES OF DEVONA – Episode 36

《《《CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX》》》

🍒DEVA🍒

I picked at my food in silence, with Darianna sitting beside me. The nagging feeling of not remembering anything chewed at me. Did all of these events really happen?

“I’m sorry, Princess Deva,” Darianna said softly.

“Don’t apologize,” I replied, forcing a smile. It still surprised me that she wasn’t pregnant anymore and that Paula was dead. What was wrong with me? Why couldn’t I remember anything?

“Can I see her baby?” I asked, and she nodded before walking away.

I glanced down at the food before me, suddenly losing my appetite amidst the attack of news.

It was hard to believe, though. I pushed the food away, staring at the empty table.

“Eat your food,” Lucifer’s voice cut through the silence from across the room.

“I don’t feel like it,” I murmured, pushing the food even farther away.

“You have to,” he insisted, approaching me.

“No,” I protested, lowering my head to lightly tap it against the table.

“Stop that,” he commanded, gently raising my head. Our eyes met, and I found myself lost in the depths of his gaze. His eyes were captivating.

His hands lingered on my face as we stared at each other. I wanted to break the trance, but I couldn’t. It felt as though an invisible force compelled me closer to him.

“You have to eat,” he finally broke the silence, nudging the food toward me.

“Can I see my grandmother?” I asked, causing him to sigh.

“Deva,” he began, his eyes still locked with mine.

“Yes,” I responded.

“You know you’ve lost your memories, right?” he queried, to which I nodded.

“So… uh, your grandmother is dead too,” he revealed, leaving me gasping in shock.

I sat there, feeling like my world was crumbling around me. First Paula, and now my grandmother. It was too much to bear.

Tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to spill over at any moment. Suddenly, Lucifer was beside me, his strong arms wrapping around me in a comforting embrace. As I began to sob, he held me tighter, offering silent solace in my time of need. It was a small gesture, but in that moment, it meant everything to me.

“Please tell me this is a dream,” I choked out between sobs, my voice heavy in despair.

I buried my face into Lucifer’s comforting arms, seeking solace in his presence. His touch was gentle as he rubbed my back, trying to soothe away the pain. But no amount of comfort could ease the chaos raging inside me.

Exhausted from the emotional turmoil, I cried myself into a fitful sleep, seeking refuge from the harsh reality that surrounded me.

He lifted me and I wrapped my legs around his torso.

“Why are you making things difficult for me?” He asked, then took my lips back into his.

I taste the wine on his lips. He kisses me gently at first and then, as if he’s reaching for something more, he pushes me against the wall and kisses me harder. His lips are warm and so soft-his hair brushes against my face. I try to focus.

His mouth, coupled with the way his hand is sliding down my arm, is all too much. So much. Good much. So good. I just whimpered. As soon as the sound leaves my mouth, he’s pressing me harder against the wall. His left hand is caressing my cheek and his right hand is gripping me by the waist, pulling me against him.

I bolted upright in bed, taking in my surroundings with a sense of disorientation. My bedroom lay quiet and empty, the only sound the echoing of my own thoughts.

*Wait, what the…*

I couldn’t help but touch my lips, a small smile playing on them. It was surreal—dreaming about Lucifer. Or was it something more? A flashback, perhaps?

Stepping out of bed, I made my way to the doorway, a pressing need to confide in someone gnawing at me. Anyone but Lucifer.

“So, you’re saying you dreamt about kissing The Lord?” Lauren’s voice cut through the silence, pulling me back to reality.

“The Lord? Who’s that?” I asked, my confusion evident.

“The man from your dreams,” she clarified, though it only added to my bewilderment.

“Why do you call him ‘The Lord’? Does he have some sort of kingdom?” I questioned, trying to grasp the gravity of it all.

“He’s the King of the underworld,” she revealed, causing me to gasp in realization. Did I really dream about kissing him? Oh my…

“Wait, he liked me before?” I blurted out, struggling to process.

“Yeah, he really did. And you liked him too,” she confirmed, a hint of amusement in her voice.

I nodded slowly. “But why would I dream about kissing him first?”

“Maybe because you’ve been fixating on him in some way,” she suggested, making me blush. Caught red-handed.

“Please, don’t tell him,” I pleaded, desperate to keep this embarrassing revelation to myself.

“You told Hades, and Hades told him?” I questioned Lauren, feeling a pang of betrayal.

” But I told you not to tell anyone”

“No you said him” she corrected, her voice tinged with regret.

“We should inform the healer so they can help us understand what’s happening,” she suggested, her concern evident.

“I just want what’s best for you, Princess Deva. I really want you to remember everything,” she confessed earnestly, her sincerity touching.

Sighing, I glanced at her. “What was his reaction?” I asked, my cheeks flushing at the thought.

“He was smiling,” she revealed, causing my heart to flutter. He was smiling. Wow.

“He didn’t frown at all?” I sought reassurance.

“Not at all,” she confirmed, bringing a sense of relief.

“Now, come take a seat,” I urged her, patting the bed beside me. “And tell me, what’s going on between you and Hades?” I asked, unable to ignore the unspoken tension between them.

“We’re together,” she murmured softly, a shy smile gracing her lips.

“You two make such a cute couple,” I remarked, genuinely happy for her.

“Are you married?” I ventured.

“No, not quite like that,” she clarified, and it all made sense.

“What is…” I began, but my words were cut short by Lucifer’s sudden interruption.

“Excuse us,” he interjected, his presence filling the room. Lauren swiftly bowed her head and exited, leaving me alone with him.

My cheeks flushed crimson as our eyes met. Oh, how I wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole.

“How are you feeling?” he inquired, closing the distance between us.

“Me? Oh, I’m feeling just fine,” I replied, forcing a nervous laugh. His smirk only intensified my unease.

“You look nervous. Why?” he prodded, his tone playful yet probing.

“I’m not nervous, not at all,” I insisted, attempting to mask my discomfort with a frown.

But his gaze lingered, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of being completely exposed in his presence.

“I heard you had a flashback,” he said with a smile that seemed to stretch wider with each passing moment.

My heart raced. What should I say? Oh my… Oh my…

“Yeah, I did,” I murmured, trying to steady my nerves. His presence alone made me feel jittery and unsure of myself.

“What’s it about?” he asked, his curiosity sparking a halt in my steps.

“What’s it about?” I echoed, meeting his intense gaze. His eyes seemed to bore into mine, demanding honesty.

“I can’t say,” I admitted, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. But before I could drop my gaze, his fingers gently lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze once more.

“Don’t be shy, my love,” he said softly, sending shivers down my spine. Did he just call me that? My breath caught in my throat as I struggled to comprehend his words. His laughter filled the air as he stood up, leaving me feeling dazed and overwhelmed.

“See you later,” he said casually, disappearing into thin air with an effortless grace that left me breathless.

Ahhh, everything about him screams perfection. His laughter, his presence… Oh d@mn.

Somewhere……

“All thanks to your little whore,” the lady spat, her voice dripping with venomous disdain.

“I had no idea she came here, and she is not a whore,” Lucifer retorted sharply, his tone laced with defiance.

“That is not how you speak to the higher council,” one of them admonished, their disapproval evident in their stern voices.

“Well, since she lost her memories, let it be like that. Don’t try to make her recover them, and we will make it easier for you,” they all chimed in unison, their collective agreement sending a shiver down my spine.

“Easier for me?” Lucifer’s frustration was palpable, his voice carrying a hint of disbelief.

“How? How are you Godsent? You are supposed to be ensuring the underworld is well-ruled by me, but instead, you are making life miserable,” Lucifer’s frustration boiled over, his words laden with pent-up resentment.

“We are doing our job by ensuring hell is well-ruled by you, but hell is not meant to have a queen,” they explained, their voices echoing with a sense of finality.

“There is something called change, and that is what I am going to bring,” Lucifer declared boldly, his determination shining through despite the opposition.

“Well, let’s watch and see,” they all chorused ominously, their skepticism hanging heavy in the air.
