Chapter 48(FINALE)
The audience went quiet and all directed their gaze towards the stage where Erik was standing. The only sounds that could be heard were the shuttering sounds coming from the reporters’ cameras and also Erik’s voice when he began speaking.
“At every point in life, there are events that we come across, experiences we have and moments that we never want to forget”Erik began “These events, experiences and moments make up memories that we always remember and cherish most of the time. Happy memories at a point can be hurtful to remember as a result of some circvmstances but nevertheless,we still want to remember them,the happiness in them can’t be ignored or forgotten. Moments we’ve shared with our loved ones are most times a source of happiness and hope for a better day and life. They also bring about feelings that we always want to have inside of us”He smiled as memories of the times he and Kiara spent together flooded his mind. “Now,Tech Builders have come up with a way to help people remember their memories in a fun, exciting and special kind of way and this is with the help of a device we created. It’s called a Memory Ball”He took a pause and faced the lead scientist beside him.
Erik brought out the small sized ball shaped device from the glass box the lead scientist held and faced the audience again, raising the device slightly “The memory ball, it scans the brain waves and the mind when you use it and brings out a memory you remember or are trying to remember in form of holograms. I’ll demonstrate” He said and handed the device back to the lead scientist.
A chair was brought on stage and he sat on it.
The lead scientist dropped the box in his hand and went to stand in front of Erik with the memory ball.
Erik gave him a nod to go ahead.
The audience watched in anticipation.
The lead scientist held the memory ball up slightly and gently pulled it apart. He placed each half of the memory ball over Erik’s ears. The device rested firmly on his ears.
The lead scientist moved away and went to stand a few feet behind Erik.
Erik exhaled before closing his eyes. Many memories came to him but he let his mind focus on one alone – One of the unforgettable moments he shared with his late sister.
A hologram of an amusement park appeared as a blue light shone from the two tiny holes on each half of the memory ball that had been placed over his ears. A hologram of him and his sister when they were still young appeared also.
‘Wows’ could be heard from different angle of the hall.
Erik smiled as he watched the hologram of himself and his sister having fun together in the holographic amusement park.
“That’s amazing”A lady in the audience said.
“I want one”A man said also.
Kiara was all smiles as she watched. She could already tell that the hologram of the little girl was Erik’s sister.
“Wow, your device is really cool”Daphne said to Kiara.
Erik blinked his tears away and kept watching. He later took off the memory ball some minutes later and put the two halves back together, making it returned to it’s original ball shape. The holograms disappeared the moment the two halves of the memory ball were put together.
He stood and faced the audience
“Now that was a demonstration of what the memory ball does” He said and almost immediately,reporters began asking him questions concerning the memory ball. He answered a few out of the tons of questions he got and the last question he answered was when the memory ball would be available on the tech market
“Starting from next week, it’ll be available on the tech market”He answered “Thank you all for coming”He made a slight bow before leaving the stage.
Kiara and Daphne stood and went backstage.
The lab team was with Erik. They all had smiles on their faces.
“We should all go out for dinner to celebrate”The lead scientist said. Most of them nodded in agreement. “Mr Erik you should come with us”He said.
“I’m sorry but I won’t be able to go with you.”Erik said “Don’t mind me,you all should have fun,you deserve it”
The lab team began to leave after a few of them chorused a ‘Thank you sir’.
“You should go out and have fun with your team, we’ll meet up later”Ken said to Emily.
She smiled and kissed him.
“Hey guys”She said to Kiara and Daphne.
They smiled at her.
“I have to meet up with my team. Bye”She smiled and waved at them before leaving.
“You’re not joining the your team to celebrate?”Ken asked Lex when he still saw him standing.
“Nope, Daphne and I are going out on a date”He said and walked to Daphne.
“Hi Ken”Daphne said to Ken while Kiara slightly waved at him.
He responded with a smile.
“Come on”Lex smiled at Daphne and held her hand.
“We can go on our date later. You should go out with your team”She said.
“Nah,I’m not sure I can still meet up with them plus I’d rather go out with you”He said and she chuckled.
Kiara raised her thumbs up when she got to Erik.
“That was a really nice presentation”She nodded.
He laughed lightly.
“I’m glad you think so”He said
“Uh, I’ll leave you two”Ken said and left.
Lex and Daphne left already.
“So, ready for our date?”Erik asked, smiling at her.
She nodded.
He held her hand and kissed it before leading her out.

Erik and Kiara sat together on the couch, watching a movie with snacks in hands.
Nathan wasn’t around,he left few days ago on a vacation to spend time with his family.
Kiara had her head rested on Erik’s shoulder and kept glancing at him occasionally.
Erik turned to look at her and met her eyes. He smiled at her and kissed her hair before bringing his eyes back to the TV screen.
Kiara sighed and bit her lip. She had something to tell him but didn’t know how to start. She also didn’t know if this was a right moment to say what was on her mind.
Erik brought his eyes to her, noticing her countenance.
“What’s wrong?”He asked softly “You seem bothered” He said, concerned.
“I…”Kiara sat up and bit her lower lip as she stared.
Erik turned off the TV, seeing she had something to tell him.
“Hey,you know you can talk to me, right?”He said, giving her a reassuring smile.
Kiara nodded and tucked her hair behind her ear.
“So,um… Recently, I’ve been thinking about the times I spent working on the theories for the memory ball…It was a really fun time for me. The two years I spent studying neuroscience was also a really fun and fulfilling time for me. And…I may have changed my major but it was a really hard decision for me. It’s no use regretting like Daphne said but I still wish I hadn’t changed my major. Neuroscience was something I’ve always wanted to study and…It still is”She chuckled lightly as she stared at him.
He stared back at her.
She swallowed “I’ve… Been thinking of going back to college to start all over again”She said
Erik bit his lip.
“You’ve… Thought about it a lot?”He asked
“Yeah,but I also want to know what you think”She said.
“Well,I think it’s a huge and brave decision and since it’s something that you really want and you’ve thought it through,you should go for it. Just know you have my love and support in wh@tëver decision you make”He smiled at her.
“Thanks”She smiled and hugged him “I love you”
“I love you too”He wrapped an arm around her.
“But…”He suddenly said when he a thought struck him “You’ll be schooling here, right?”He asked
“Um, actually, I’ll be going abroad”She said, breaking their hug
His eyes widened”What?”He muttered, wanting to be sure he heard her clearly.
Kiara laughed seeing the look on his face “I was joking”
Erik stared at her and released an awkward chuckle. He had thought she was being serious.
“That was a really expensive joke”He muttered.
Kiara’s smile disappeared seeing the look on his face.
“I’m sorry,I didn’t know you would take it so serious”She apologized.
He sighed.
“You had me scared for a second”He said.
“Sorry”She pouted and kissed him.
He stared at her “It doesn’t mean I won’t still support you if you chose to study abroad but it’ll just be nice to be prepared you know”He said
She chuckled.
He smiled and lead forward, connecting their lips.
Seeing the kiss wasn’t a short but a lingering one,Kiara broke it.
“We’re not the only ones here, remember?”She said quietly.
Erik folded his lips, understanding what she meant.
There were maids around the house that could walk in anytime.
“Let’s go to my room”He smiled and swept her up in his arms, carrying her to his room.
She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He closed the door with his leg after they entered his room.
He walked to the couch and placed her gently on it.
Kiara still had her arms around his neck so she used that bringing his lips closer to hers and reconnected their lips again. Her back slowly went down, resting on the couch as they kissed.
Erik followed, staying on top of her. He supported his weight with his hand which he placed on the couch,beside her head and his knee between her legs. His other hands went to her waist, caressing it.
A brush of his tongue against her lower lip made her lips part, giving his tongue enough room slide in. A Mõ@n escaped her mouth he kissed her sensually, exploring the whole of her mouth.
Her hands left his neck and went to his chest, stroking it.
Her touch sent electricity coursing through him, increasing his arousal.
“Keep doing that”He Mõ@ned into her mouth and brought his hand to her hair, tangling his fingers in it.
Their kiss continued just as romantic as it started but now sensual and they kept it that way as it sent waves of pleasure in them.

°°FOUR YEARS LATER°°
M.R LABORATORY was a pharmaceutical company that was specialized in conducting medical researches. It was known as one of the best pharmaceutical companies in the country and only the best were employed to work there.
Kiara could be seen seated behind a desk in a lab office. She had a lab coat on and was busy working on a report about the last research that was recently done. There were few other desks in the office and the rest of the space in the office were occupied by cabinets and tables which held the lab equipments. Some of the tables contained beakers and flasks which had liquids them, mostly colored.
A lady who also dressed in a lab coat came in and walked to Kiara.
“Are you done with the report?”She asked.
“Almost”Kiara replied.
“Good. The boss needs it”She said “So,will you be interested in hanging out after work?”She smiled
“I… Actually have plans, I’m sorry Evie”Kiara said.
Evie was a friend she made when she began working as a neuroscientist in M.R LABORATORY as a neuroscientist.
“Ooh,a date with your billionaire boyfriend?”Evie grinned.
Kiara chuckled.
“I’m done”She handed Evie the report after she was done with it.
“Nice”Evie said as she went through the report.
Kiara smiled.
She checked the time on her phone – 5pm,the closing hour.
“I’m leaving already. We’ll hang out tomorrow”She said after picking her bag.
Evie smiled “Bye”She said to Kiara as she left the office.
Kiara smiled when she got outside the company and met Erik waiting for her.
He smiled also when he saw her.
Soon,they were in his car.
“How was work today?”Erik asked as he drove.
“Stressful but it’s okay”She nodded “You?”
“Same”He smiled and she chuckled.
Things have been going really well in the last four years. Erik’s company skyrocketed to the top a few months after the launching of the memory ball and on her 24th birthday,she got access to every of her dad’s properties and his money after being shown his will by his lawyer which Natasha told her about. It included Natasha’s supermarket and she gifted that to Daphne. The rest of her dad’s properties and money was donated to charity.
A few months to her college graduation,Ken and Emily got married but Ken had been promoted to the position of the general manager at Tech Builders earlier before then. Daphne and Lex’s relationship was going smoothly also and she couldn’t be happier for all of her friends.
Despite her busy schedules while she was still in college and Erik’s busy schedule at work,it didn’t stop them from having time for each other and neither did it stop their love for each other from growing stronger.
“Where are we going?”She asked.
“It’s a surprise”Erik smiled at her. “But it’s actually a place you know”He gave a hint.
She raised a brow

“Whoa”Kiara looked round the garden as she walked in with Erik “It’s been a while since we’ve been here”
“I know”He nodded
“It looks more beautiful than it did few years ago” She said.
Erik smiled, holding her hand as they walked.
Kiara smiled at him.
“This place sure brings back lots of memories”He said “I remember the first time you brought me here”He looked at her
She chuckled.
“It became my favorite place. It was also the day you became my favorite person”He said, making her giggle.
“Don’t forget it’s also the place where we had our first kiss”She reminded
“Yeah,and that’s why I see it as the perfect place to do this”He stopped walking and Kiara turned to face him.
He knelt on a knee and held out a ring box, smiling as he opened it, revealing a silver diamond ring.
Kiara’s eyes widened and her hand went up to cover her opened mouth.
“Kiara Clark,will you marry me?”He asked with a smile.
Kiara’s hand uncovered her mouth and she nodded
“Yes”She responded with a smile.
Erik smiled as he slid the ring in her left ring finger.
He kissed it before standing up.
She hugged him immediately.
“I love you Erik Zander”She said with so much affection and joy in her heart.
“I love you too,Kiara Clark”Erik smiled, hugging her back.
