CHAPTER 50
***BLACK WEDDING 2***
Many black Lamborghinis drove into Italy’s largest event hall. Vincenzo got out of his car, hands in his pocket, and his hair was styled to the side, giving him a tough look. Bruno stood on the left, Lorenzo on the right. Reporters rushed them with cameras flashing. They walked into the hall, Vincenzo in the lead, his brothers beside him.
Bruno adjusted his tie, saying, “I don’t like how this tie feels.”
Lorenzo helped him, replying, “Relax. A gentleman wears a tie and suit.”
“That’s better,” Bruno said, tapping his shoulder and sitting down.
The door opened, and everyone turned to see the beautiful bride. Hailey led, dressed in a white gown, holding a bouquet and smiling. Adriana followed in a blue gown. Grace held Mirabella’s gown as she walked like a princess.
“Here comes the bride!”
“Here comes the bride!”
“Feeling nervous?” Lorenzo asked, and Vincenzo exhaled.
“Yeah, she looks amazing. I can’t wait,” Vincenzo replied.
“She’s not food, and there’s a priest,” Bruno scolded.
“God have mercy on him,” Lorenzo said, and Vincenzo threatened to spill secrets.
“Keep it a secret,” Lorenzo muttered.
“Stay calm, little boy,” Vincenzo smirked.
The pianists played as Mirabella walked to the stage. She faced Vincenzo with the priest in between.
“Today, we gather to celebrate this soon-to-be couple. Thank you for coming,” the priest said.
“Is there anyone against this wedding?” He asked, looking at the crowd.
“Better not,” Mirabella muttered.
“Do you, Mirabella D’angelo, accept this man as your husband?” the priest asked.
“Yes, I do,” she replied.
“Do you, Vincenzo Salavtore, accept Mirabella D’angelo as your wife?”
“I do,” Vincenzo answered.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” the priest said, and they kissed as the lights went out, music played, and the crowd cheered.
Mirabella changed into a silver gown with a thigh-high slit. The lights centered on her as the priest left.
“God have mercy,” he muttered.
Vincenzo kissed her, and the lights shifted. A solo music played, and they danced.
“I never thought this day would come,” Mirabella whispered
“I knew the day I first saw you,” he whispered while dancing gracefully.
After the dance, they introduced VIPs. Surprisingly, the newlyweds were shocked when they found out that Marco had attended the wedding.
Mirabella felt uneasy, seeing him with his usual smirk. Bruno and Lorenzo immediately understood the signal Vincenzo sent to them.
They tightened security and made sure Hailey was taken care of.
“A toast to this beautiful lady,” Marco said, raising his glass.
Mirabella, feeling exhausted, Vincenzo held her hands firmly and smirked.
“A toast,” he replied, raising his glass.
They raised their glasses and took a sip.
“Now, can I tell you the beautiful story of me and this lovely lady?” He said. Mirabella’s heart raced.
She swallowed, and her brown eyes met Marco’s. “Don’t,” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper as she shook her head.
“But I bet it won’t be interesting. Anyways, she was the sweetest. I’m terribly sad that you, Vincenzo Salvatore, stole her from me,” he hissed.
“She was never yours,” Vincenzo replied confidently.
“Hailey, please don’t go anywhere,” a maid said, closing the car door. The maid walked away, and Hailey sighed.
“Don’t know why they can’t let me enjoy this party like everyone else,” she rolled her eyes.
There was a knock on the window, and she rolled it down but didn’t see anyone. “Hello? Miss Betty?” She called, opening the door.
“Hey,” Isabella called as she walked out from behind the car.
“Who are you? Are you hungry? You look like you’re gonna starve,” she said, eyeing Isabella closely. Isabella clenched her teeth in response.
“Same as you,” she retorted, delivering a swift slap that sent Hailey tumbling to the ground.
“Ouch! What’s your problem?” Hailey groaned, brushing off her hands.
“Not much. I just want to give you my present” She smiled and dragged her into the car.
Isabella glanced around, then hopped into the car, snatched the keys, and sped away.
The maid rushed out and her eyes widened in shock. Hailey had disappeared.
“No!… Hailey!!. Jesus Christ! Boss is gonna kill us,” the maid exclaimed, her nerves making her fidget.
“Kill us? He’s gonna kill you. Why leave Hailey alone?” the driver retorted.
“We have to find her,” the maid insisted.
“Yeah, we need to. My heart’s pounding like crazy!” the maid exclaimed as they frantically searched for Hailey.
“Wait!”
“Wait, what? We’re supposed to be looking for Hailey, not guessing,” the maid groaned impatiently.
“I think Hailey’s been kidnapped!” the driver declared, and the maid’s eyes widened in fear.
“We’re in deep trouble,” they both muttered simultaneously, realizing the seriousness of the situation.
~~~
“Stop screaming Bîtch!” Isabella yelled, and Hailey jumped.
“Leave me alone! I’m going to call the cops on you,” Hailey threatened, pulling out her phone.
“Um, really? Hand it over,” Isabella said, rolling her eyes as she snatched the phone from Hailey’s grasp.
Isabella took an injection and inserted it into her neck, releasing the liquid.
Hailey instantly passed out. Isabella smirked, saying, “Good girl,” and increased her speed.
As she glanced behind, she noticed that her speeding had caught the attention of the police. She slowed down and pulled over.
A police officer approached her. “Young lady, that’s excessive speeding,” he scolded, and she awkwardly smiled.
“I know, officer,” she replied.
“Is someone asleep? Your daughter?” he inquired, and she nodded with a smile.
“She looks just like me, huh?” She asked, and he scoffed.
“Get out of the car,” he ordered, and she complied.
“Put your hands on your head and step away from the car,” he instructed.
“Are you a human trafficker? Who is that girl? Tell me!” he shouted, while the other officer checked on Hailey.
“She’s just asleep, man,” the officer assured him.
“She might have drugged her,” the one pointing a gun at Isabella’s head suggested.
“Why would you say that? I… just because I lost half of my face? Is that why you think I’m not beautiful enough to be her mother?” Isabella cried, tears streaming down her face.
“I was in an accident!” she continued, and the officers exchanged glances.
“If you don’t believe me, it’s fine, but understand that I’m so fed up with life. People look at me, and all they see is a monster,” she cried, collapsing to the ground.
“Dude!” the other officer called, signaling him to release Isabella.
“Go on. Drive at a safe speed, okay?” he said.
“Oh, yes, officer. Thank you,” she sniffed, got back in the car, and drove off.
She wiped away her tears and smirked, looking at herself in the mirror. “So foolish.”
~~~~~
The wedding was still happening, but Mirabella felt very uneasy. She was sweating, and the AC didn’t help much. She looked at the maid she had asked to watch over Hailey, and she noticed the maid whispering something to Bruno. That’s when anxiety crept in.
She whispered in Vincenzo’s ear, and he glanced at Bruno, who quickly left the event hall. Lorenzo followed, along with some bodyguards.
Mirabella, feeling increasingly worried, muttered, “What’s going on? I’m really scared.”
Marco turned and signaled his guards, who were sitting among the guests.
They discreetly exited, not drawing attention, except for the guests who sensed something was amiss.
“I’ll be back in a moment. Stay put,” Vincenzo said, attempting to leave the stage, but Mr. Raymond shook his head.
“We’ve got this under control. Don’t cause a commotion right now,” he whispered to Vincenzo, who let out a soft exhale.
••••
“What do you mean Hailey is missing? Where is she?” Bruno yelled, pointing his gun at the maid and the driver.
“I just checked the footage. Someone kidnapped her,” another guard replied.
“Marco’s men?” Lorenzo asked with raised eyebrows. “I swear, if it’s him, I’ll deal with him!”
“No, it’s a woman. Her name’s Isabella D’Angelo,” the guard said, making Lorenzo clench his fist.
“Check where she is. That car, is it encrypted?”
The guard got to work, trying to find Hailey’s location, but nothing came up.
The last place she was spotted was at a store before she went north. But we haven’t seen any other footage of her or Hailey since then.
Minutes passed with no results.
“Alright, we’re all heading back in there. Watch our body language! We won’t let this wedding end, got it!?”
“Yes!” they replied.
“Good, now let’s get back in there,” Bruno said, and everyone returned to the hall.
“That woman better not harm my princess. I’ll confront her if she does,” Lorenzo muttered.
“It’s okay, we have everything under control,” Bruno reassured him.
Back at the hall, Vincenzo kept a close eye on Marco, his intent clear — there would be trouble after the wedding.
Hours passed, and the wedding concluded.
Mirabella walked up to Marco and slapped him hard.
“d@mn you!” she cursed, and he chuckled lightly.
“You haven’t changed, have you?” he said, wiping his lip.
Lorenzo then delivered the unsettling news, “Hailey is missing.”
Before anyone could react, Mirabella hit Marco again, and then aimed a kick at his leg.
“Lady, please, calm down,” he said, catching her hands and pulling her close. “You look stunning tonight,” he whispered, swaying with her as if they were dancing.
He saw Vincenzo pull the trigger at him. Swiftly, he turned the other way, making the bullet hit champagne bottles and break.
Vincenzo said coldly, “Touch her again, and I promise your blood will spill.” He put one hand in his pocket.
Mirabella left Marco and went to Vincenzo, who held her waist, staring at Marco.
“Leave! Get out of my sight while I’m still being nice,” he said, and his guards aimed their guns at Marco.
The hall was empty, with the Salvatores, their bodyguards, and Marco with his bodyguards.
“Of all the things I’ve done, losing you is the worst. I can’t bear the thought of another man having you!” Marco said, pulling out his gun.
“Don’t be foolish, Marco!” Mirabella said, taking her gun from the back of her wedding gown.
“Foolish? I’m not foolish, Mirabella. Wanting you in my bed isn’t bad, is it?” He smirked and advanced two steps toward Mirabella.
“I call that lust and a stupid obsession!”
“Really!?” He scoffed, taking a glass of champagne wine, sipping it, and nodding.
“Nice wine. I’ve always liked this wine,” he smiled, taking a few steps closer to Mirabella.
He stopped right in front of her, and Vincenzo’s gun touched the side of his head. “Touch her and meet the devil,” he said, and Marco smiled.
“Do you love him?” He asked, and Mirabella rolled her eyes.
“Do you love him, this monster? Tell me, do you have feelings for this man who rejoices in bloodshed?”
“The man who’d kill anyone just for money?” He asked again, and Mirabella smiled.
“That’s the man you know. I’m married to the guy who loved me even when I wasn’t in my right mind. I do love him, if that’s the answer you’re looking for,” she replied, holding Vincenzo’s left hand.
“I just wanted to hear that from you. Goodbye then. I hope you find what you’re looking for,” he smiled and pulled Mirabella into a hug.
Even though Vincenzo wanted to pull the trigger, he stopped himself.
Marco walked out of the event hall with a smile, took a deep breath, and looked back at Mirabella.
“Happy married life. Congratulations to you, bunny,” he said, putting on his sunglasses and getting into his red sports car.
He drove off quickly, and the rest of his bodyguards followed in their cars.
Exhausted, Mirabella sat on the ground. “Isabella probably has Hailey. What do we do?”
“We wait. We wait for her call,” Vincenzo replied, carrying her up.
“Come on, you don’t have to act this way. Hailey is going to be okay, trust me.”
“I trust you,” she whispered softly.
He placed her on the couch, and she rested her head. Finally, Marco was off her back, and it felt like a burden had been lifted.
Her heartbeat raced at the thought of what might be happening to her daughter.
“Please God, please stay with my daughter. Please God, she’s innocent,” she muttered, almost tearing up.
“Shhhh,” Vincenzo placed a finger on her lips. “God is with her, and we are coming for her. I need you to calm down first. We’ll get our little champ, and everything is going to be okay, alright?”
“Alright!” She replied as Vincenzo kissed her hand.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Amor!”
