The room was quite large and also the beds in the room was six and that’s for the six of them, two by two, so the first three people that came has occupied the up bunk and the fourth girl is occupying one of the down bunk, remaining two beds left and both is down bunk
Gift and Rose were not happy because they had always wished to be bed mates too, at least one of them will be up bunk and the other down bunk, that’s they way they have always wished and visualized it, but they were disappointed at the turn of events and wished they came a little more earlier than now
There wish would have come to be as they want but looking at the situation, there is nothing they could possibly do about it than to be in separate beds at least been in the same room is still better than been in separate rooms.
Gift choose the bed she would love to stay while Rose went to the last bed in the room.
Quickly they unpacked some of their things, brought out the uniform that was given to them some hours ago and tasted it.
Gift’s own was as long as ‘Mary Amaka’ and Rose own was long too… They both laughed at each other on seeing how the clothes looked on them… They can’t stop laughing and did not notice when three girls entered the room and joined them in their own mockery of laughter too
It was the laugh from the other girls made them realize that they are not the only ones laughing and wondered when the girls came in
The first girl: The both of you really looks like ngbe eke with those long clothes of yours
The second girl : Seriously, you two really looks like you are still in primary 5.
The third girl didn’t say anything, she just kept on laughing, suddenly the door opened and another girl came in, she was bigger than the five of them in the room, her face is really mean and serious and she looks like the bossy type too…. She just said hi to them and went straight to her bed, she climbed up and sat on top of her bed
Rose heart started pounding loud immediately she saw the girl sitting in the up bunk, she realized that she is her bed mate and wished she have taken the other bed.
Gift laughed and tell her friend that she is thanking God oo because she chose the other bed instead of this one with the big mean face of a girl. After a while, they removed their uniforms and proper introduction was made
The first girls name is Linda, the second girl is chioma, the third girl was Esther then stony face of a girl introduced herself as Amarachi, she is in jss2 but look like some one in ss1,Gift and Rose also introduced themselves too.. And after the introduction, everyone dispatched to their corners and few minutes of silence took place in the room.
Minutes later, a conversation ensured amongst the girls and it was then observed that all of them are just fresher’s and in the same jss1 but amongst all, both of them are the smallest
The girls told them about the rules and regulations in the school and how the senior girls will always want to ride and maltreat the junior ones unnecessarily, Linda share her experience with them as one of the girls in ss1 punished her by stealing her money.
Linda told them that the first day she went to class, then during break period, she went and bought ice cream with fiber biscuit, then one Ugly senior saw her and collected them from her, then told her to go back and buy two ice cream and sandwich and then bring back #50 change for her.
I said OK and stretched out my hand to collect money from her but she gave me a very kíllïng and evīl look, then opened my own ice cream and started licking it, another of her friend that was there said to me, is like you are new here abi, you better go and get those things before I change my mind and increased what to buy and the change to bring too
Nobody have told you about this before abi? JJC!
With tears in my eyes I told them I will report them to the principal, they both laughed and told me that no problem that I should report all I want but I should first get what they want first because they are really hungry…… Hmm I thanked God that I was still with money at that time
I went back to buy what they sent me, it was on my way that I saw a girl that was been beaten by three seniors because she told them that she doesn’t have money, the freight made me bought the things quickly and run to them, I gave it to them and didn’t even bother to collect my items they were holding.
I ran to the class and shared my experience and they told me never to report to the principal or any teacher if I want my stay in this school to be a peaceful one.
That was how I did not report to the principal or any teacher ooo, since that day, I don’t use to go out for break again, Linda concluded
Esther also shared her own experience too and before you could know it, Gift has started crying already and wished she never came to boarding school.
The stony face told her to stop crying that she would get used to it and the school generally.
Rose too was worried about the maltreatment and prayed in her heart that she and Gift will never fall a victim.
Later in the evening, Rose and Gift collected books from their roomies to copy note, luckily for them, they have not really gone far in learning just three topics in each subject and some were even two topics, so copying the note was not much of a difficult thing for them.
Amarachi, Rose’s beddy offered to help her in copying some but Rose stylishly refused her by telling her that writing is one of her hubby and that she is a fast writer and also she reads and learn better while writing by herself
but gift on the other hand gave about two people her note to copy some for her against Rose’s advice not to.
