“Jade?” Whitney called, crossing her hands on her chest. She was on the bed.
However, Jade didn’t respond.
“Jade? You asleep?” Whitney turned to her.
“Hmm” Jade murmured, scratching her neck. She seemed to be sleeping.
Whitney sighed.
“Jade…I’m not staying in tomorrow, okay?”
“Hmm…Okay..Huh?..Wait….What??” Jade flung her eyes open and faced Whitney.
“What did you just say?” She asked.
Whitney smiled.
“My mum asked for a family dinner”
“Oh. I guess I’ll be lonely…again” She stressed the last word.
Whitney only chuckled.
“Try to be home on time. Oh,,, send your regards to your mum…and dad”
“I don’t have a dad” Whitney said, bluntly.
“Huh?, Oh…I’m…I’m sorry. I-
“Its fine” Whitney nodded.
“Dead or?”
“I don’t know. He seems dead though” Whitney shrugged.
“You look quite nonchalant” Jade furrowed her eyes at her.
“I don’t wanna even go there. I’m gonna sleep now. Goodnight, Jade”
“Goodnight, Whitney” Jade smiled and finally shut her eyes.

Desmond was about going to bed when a knock stopped him. It came more than once.
Desmond sighed, and looked at Clark who was deeply asleep.
“Im guessing it’s Jayden?” He thought and went to the door which he later opened.
He was right.
It was Jayden after all.
“Jayden? Goodness…Did you drink?. Its obvious the talk you had with Natalie didn’t end well” Desmond shook his head, as he watched Jayden stagger into the room.
He laid on his bed and inhaled deeply.
“Those jerks” He muttered.
“Who?” Desmond asked.
“Natalie and that…that guy…the kisser” Jayden answered, closing his eyes.
Desmond onky smirked.
“You’re one drunk n!gg@r” He said walking to his bed.
“Desmond?” Jayden called in a cool whisper, allowing him to halt his movements.
“Yea?” Desmond turned his face to him.
Jayden smiled, his eyes still closed.
“Do you wanna hear a secret?” He asked.
“A secret?…No. Its a secret so keep it to yourself. I don’t wanna use your drunkenness as an advantage. Sleep tight” Desmond said, and took few steps but the next thing Jayden said made him halt again.
“Huh?” Desmond cooed and looked at him.
“What…What did you say?” He asked.
“I said,,, Its about Whitney” Jayden asked.
Desmond gulped and slowly walked to his side.
“What’s the secret about?” He asked.
Jayden smirked.
“I thought you didn’t wanna listen”
“My apologies. I’m just gonna hear from you now…real quick” Desmond nodded.
Jayden sighed.
“Whitney. I made a bet on her”
Desmond widened his eyes.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me right. I…made a bet on Whitney” Jayden said.
Desmond quickly took out his phone and tapped the ‘recording’ icon.
“Say that again” Desmond said, angrily with glints sparkling in his eyes.
“I said I made a bet on Whitney! I’m gonna date her…and I was given a week. If I don’t get her before this weekend, Its over. I’m gonna have the spill my biggest… secret. I’m-
“Shut up!” Desmond shouted and punched Jayden’s lips. It sliced up immediately giving him a cut.
Jayden dozed off at once, surprisedly.
“Darn it” Desmond muttered and got on his feet. He looked at his phone and saved the recording.
THE NEXT MORNING**
SATURDAY**
“You awake?” Jade smiled.
“Yeah” Whitney smiled back with a nod.
“I guess today is the D-day with your mum and little brother?”
“Yeah. I’m gonna go have my bath” Whitney uttered and entered the bathroom.
Jade inhaled and quickly gave Desmond a call.
“Hello?” Desmond said as soon as he accepted her call.
“Hey. I just called to tell you to forget about the bar bells” She said.
“Huh? Why?” He asked.
“I’ve other ways to burn fats. Better ways” She smiled.
“Okay then. See you later” Desmond said, and hanged up.
SHANNON KENNERSON’S HOME**
Shannon giggled and opened the window with both hands.
She looked outside and sniffed in the cool breeze.
“Everything is so ready. Oh,, except- She paused, and crooked her brows.
Shannon’s eyes were looking at the weed plants occupying the duplex’s frontage.
“Seriously?” She frowned.
However, It didn’t take enough time before the frown on her face got replaced with a relieved smile.
“Better. This was what I was hoping for. A gardener” She smiled, holding her short light night dress.
“Mum…” Liam ran out from the bathroom. He was brushing hia teeth.
“Oh…hunny” She smiled and squatted to his level.
“Is Sis here already?” Liam smiled, widening his eyes, curiously.
“Not yet but soon. Go back and have a hot shower” She smiled and packed his hair.
“Okay mum” He nodded and ran to the bathroom.
Shannon ran out and signalled to the busy gardener who was working with his lawn mower at the next duplex.
“Hey!” She waved.
The man turned to her, and slightly raised his straw hat.
“Me?” He asked.
“Yeah” She replied and walked through the field. She was on the next boundary now.
“Good morning. How may I help you?” He asked, slowly.
“How much are you gonna help weed that out for me? P.s, I don’t have much so give me a nice discount” She winked.
The man chuckled, nervously.
“No…Excuse me?”
“Here. Manage this. Thanks” She winked and pushed the money she had, into his Brë@št pocket.
“Wait. I’m not a gardener. I’m your-
“Bye! And thank you” She smiled with a wave before leaving the sight.

“Ah…In case, Maureen asks. Tell her I went to see my family”

Whitney nodded and finally left.
Jade shut the door and quickly took off the clothes she was wearing.
The gym pink crop top and leggings she was wearing inside, got exposed immediately.
