“What’s so important about the phone Nathan, I will get you a new one,” Cody said.

“I said I don’t want it”

“Why?”

“Because it’s not just a phone,” Nathan said, his voice shaking.

“It’s so much more than that, It has the video of when Senior Rudy was being shot on the cliff by the principal” Nathan said and Cody’s eyes widened.”

“Huh! What?”

“You were also on the cliff”

SOMEWHERE NEAR THE ALLEY.

A guy could be seen running away from the alley as if he was being chased by someone or something when there is nothing behind him.

He got out of the alley and started breathing heavily

The guy slowed to a walk, still breathing heavily.

He glanced around, then leaned against a wall and put his head in his hands.

He looked completely exhausted, and now a little defeated.

Wh@tëver had happened, it seemed to have taken a toll on him.

The guy started pacing back and forth, his brow furrowed in thought.

He looked tense, anxious.

He kept glancing around, as if he were waiting for someone to appear.

Or maybe he was trying to figure out what to do next.

Suddenly a car pulled up next to him and the front door glass rolled down.

A voice from inside the car spoke.

“Hey, you hurry up and get in”

“Huh?” The guy raised his brows looking over at the car and saw a man sitting inside, looking at him.

“Who…… Who are you?” The guy asked.

“Just get in and I will tell you who I am”

The guy hesitated for a moment but he didn’t know what to do.

So he entered the car.

As soon as he got inside the car, the man started driving and said.

“I was sent here by Miss Leah to pick you up”

The man’s words calmed the guy down.

“Oh! Miss Leah?” The guy muttered and a chill suddenly ran down his spine when he remembered what happened at the alley.

“Do you have what she wants?” The man asked and the guy nodded.

“Yes, I have the boy’s phone” The guy replied.

“Then there is no need to be scared of Miss Leah” The man said and the guy shook his head.

“No, I’m not scared of her, I am scared of that monster,” The guy said.

“Huh? Monster?” The man brows furrowed in confusion.

“What monster?” The man asked, staring at the guy through the rearview glass and he could see the guy shaking heavily from his seat.

“Who is he? He just suddenly showed up and beat everyone, “the guy asked inwardly, feeling nervous and scared at the same time.

“Are you okay?” The man asked and got no response.

“Hey, is there something wrong?” The man asked again, stopping the car.

“Huh?”

“You mentioned a monster before, what do you mean by that?” The man asked.

“Oh it’s nothing,” The guy replied.

“Are you sure?” The man asked.

“Yeah, everything is fine” The guy lied.

“Okay, if you said so” The man started driving again and the guy sighs in relief.

“Whoever you are, I hope we never cross paths again” The guy said inwardly.

THE ALLEY.

“You were also on the cliff” Cody was stunned.

He remembered that day, the day of the incident.

The day that changed everything, the day that changed his whole life.

“You were on the cliff the day Rudy was being shot,” Cody said.

“Yes, I saw what happened that day,” Nathan said, his voice shaking as he remembered how Rudy was shot.

He had seen it all happen, in slow motion.

He told the cops about what he saw that day but they refused to believe him even after showing them the video they threatened him and told him not to come to their office again.

Since then he had never told anyone about what he had seen, not even Alex.

But now those people who killed Rudy are also after his life so he couldn’t keep quiet any longer.

“I know who shot senior Rudy, it was the principal he had to pay for his crime” Nathan said folding his fist.

“He needs to pay for killing Alex’s brother even if it means pointing my life in dan….”

“Shut up,” Cody said.

“What?” Nathan asked, his voice catching in his throat.

“I said shut up,” Cody repeated, his tone low and dangerous.

Nathan felt his blood run cold, he had never seen this side of Cody before since they met.

“You have no idea what you’re talking about”

“So stop making up stories, and that’s dangerous”

“So you need to stop talking”

“I… I’m not making this up,” Nathan stammered.

“I really know what I saw”

Cody’s face turned stony.

“You’re either mistaken, or you’re lying”

“Either way, you’re not making any sense”

“Wha…. What?”

“There’s no way the principal could have done this,” Cody lied.

“That is not true, he is the one that killed senior Rudy” Nathan felt his resolve wavering.

“Stop lying Nathan” Cody said.

“But… but I am telling you the truth, if I could just find my phone I will show it to you” Nathan said looking around and Cody shook his head.

“You can’t find it, your phone is already with the missing guy so forget about it” Cody said.

“What?”

“How…. How did you know?” Nathan asked.

“Forget about how I know, I need you to forget about everything that has happened so far including the video, your life being in danger, me saving you and you being there when Rudy was shot by the principal I need you to forget about everything” Cody said.

“Wha…what?” Nathan was stunned, his mind was racing as he stared at Cody.

He could see the dangerous look in his eyes.

“Bu…bu…. But why?” Nathan asked and Cody sighs heavily.

“It’s for your own good,” Cody said, his voice soft but firm.

“I’m trying to protect you, I don’t want you to risk your life for someone who is dead”

“I’m trying to keep you safe, but I can’t do that if you keep going on about this. You have to trust me”

Nathan was still struggling to process everything.

His head was spinning.

“I… I don’t understand. I just… I don’t know what to do”

Cody reached out and put a hand on Nathan’s shoulder.

“Just trust me let this go, I’m sure you don’t want Alex to cry because of you” Cody said.

“No, I don’t,” Nathan said.

The thought of Alex crying because of him was unbearable.

He cared about Alex, and he didn’t want to cause her any pain.

Cody’s eyes softened.

“I know this is hard, but I promise you it’s for the best.

“You need to let this go, you need to move on because of Alex” Cody said and Nathan swallowed hard.

“Okay, fine I will forget about everything” Nathan said slowly.

“It’s only because of Alex,” Nathan added.

“Lover boy” Cody chuckled.

“Anyway, do you remember the woman the principal called Susan from the cliff?” Cody asked.

“Yes, but I wasn’t able to see her face. She was wearing something like a mask on her face,” Nathan replied.

“That’s true,” Cody nodded.

“By the way I heard from Sally that your family and hers are pretty close”

“Yes, that’s true,” Nathan replied.

“Our families are close”

“That great, do you know anyone bearing the name Susan that’s so close to the principal” Cody asked.

“Hmmm, yeah that should be ….” Nathan suddenly paused when he realized who he was about to mention.

“Bullseye, I knew it,” Cody said inwardly.

“Your mother” Cody said and Nathan’s eyes widened in shock.

His mother?

The woman who told the principal to kill senior Rudy was his mother?

But that couldn’t be right. His mother was a kind, gentle woman.

She wouldn’t be involved in anything dangerous.

“I know my mother is a very close friend with the principal, but I can’t imagine her being involved with senior Rudy’s death,” Nathan said.

“I didn’t mention anything about your mother being involved in Rudy’s death” Cody smirked.

Nathan felt like the floor had just been pulled out from under him.

He didn’t know what to think.

He trusted his mother, he really did.

But he also trusted Cody.

He knew that Cody wouldn’t lie to him. And if Cody said that his mother was involved in something dangerous, he had to believe him.

“I don’t understand,” He said, shaking his head.

“How could my mother be involved in something like this?” Nathan asked slowly, feeling guilty for what his mother did and Cody sighed.

“How about we get some food at my father’s place?” Cody suggested changing the topic.

“I’m starving,” Cody said and Nathan nodded.

“But, it’s already late. I need to go home”

“Forget about that and get into the car,” Cody said, pushing Nathan into the black SUVs.

Nathan found himself sitting in the passenger seat beside Cody and in the driver seat the guy dressed in black suit from earlier was sitting there.

“Hey Paul, drive us to my father’s place” Cody said.

“Of course, Mr Cody,” Paul said.

His voice was even and professional, but Nathan could hear a hint of warmth underneath.

It was clear that he and Cody had a good relationship.

The car started moving, and Nathan tried to relax into the seat.

But his mind kept racing, and he couldn’t stop thinking about his mother.

What had she done?

And why? He felt like he was missing something important, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was.

“Hey, take a deep breath,” Cody said, as if reading his mind.

“You’re going to give yourself a headache, that’s the reason why I told you to forget about everything,” Cody said and Nathan smiled.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath just as Cody suggested.

LEAH’S MANSION.

Leah and Susan could be seen sitting next to each other with a smirk on their face.

“They should be here by now, what taking them so long” Susan asked.

“I don’t know either Susan, have already sent one of the drivers to go and pick him up they should be arriving soon” Leah smiled.

Suddenly a loud knock was heard from the door.

“I guess you are finally here, Luis come in” Leah said.

The door swung open, standing in the doorway was Luis. One of Leah’s spies.

“I’m back Miss Leah” Luis said and Leah smiled.

“Were you able to get the phone?” Susan asked.

“Yes, but there’s a bit of trouble,” Luis said.

“Huh?” Susan raised her brows.

“Trouble? What do you mean by that?” Susan asked.

“Did something happen to my Nathan” Susan asked, already looking worried and Luis shook his head.

“Then what trouble are you talking about?” Susan asked.

“I’m sure he is talking about Donald boys,” Leah replied.

“So were you able to kill them?” Leah asked.

“No Miss Leah I wasn’t talking about Donald boys either” Luis said.

“Huh? Then who are you talking about” Leah and Susan asked together.

“I don’t know who he is, Miss Leah. He just suddenly showed up and beat up the four Donald boys,” Luis said.

“Why would he do that?” Susan asked.

“I don’t know why either Miss Susan, but that guy is a monster he doesn’t flinch if you point a gun at him or someone he knows it was like he already lost his reason to live and doesn’t care if he alive or not, the guy is a monster in disguise”

“But I think he came to save your son,” Luis said.

“Huh”

” Yeah, I have the video of the fight recorded on my phone,” Luis said, bringing out his phone.

Leah and Susan both stood up, moving towards the door.

“Show us the video” Miss Susan.

“Yes ma’am” Luis began to play the video of when Cody was fighting at the alley.

After watching the video Miss Leah said.

“We need to recruit this guy, he is going to be a big help to us if we have someone like him on our side” Leah said.

“What do you think, Susan?” She asked.

“Sure, he will definitely be useful to us but the only problem is that how do we find this boy, his face wasn’t very clear in the video” Susan said.

“Yeah, that’s true,” Leah said.

“Luis, will you be able to recognize the guy if you see him again?” Leah asked.

“I’m not sure yet ma’am, I also didn’t see his face clearly because I was running away for my life” Luis said and Leah sighs sadly.

“We need to recruit him, do wh@tëver it takes to find out who that guy was for me Luis” Leah said.

“Yes ma’am” Luis nodded.

“Whoever he is we need to recruit him” Leah smiled.
