A night before the divorce new was released, Stanley was in his room enjoying the company of his phone when a message beeped in from Jessica.
💬*mind to grab a drink with me? I have a problem to solve* the message reads, and he replied immediately before rushing to freshen up.
He clad in one of his best evening clothes, and left his room when he was satisfied with his look.
He was heading out when his mother called out to him.
“Party night?” She shouted.
“No, mum. I’m meeting someone,”
“Will you be back before dinner?”
“Don’t wait for me. I don’t wish to be back early,” he muttered, and smiled.
“Take care! Have fun! Love, love,”
“Love yoy more,” with that he blew her a kiss, and hurried out.
*
He arrived at the resort she asked them to meet, and was surprised to see the whole resort was reserved for them.
“Hi, Stan. You really came,” she said, and he smiled.
“I told you I’ll come,”
“Of course,”
“Where is the math problem?” He asked, and she held his hand.
“I never said it was a meth problem,” she muttered, and dragged her seat to be next to his.
“The what’s it? Do you want me to hack a device for you? Everyone knows how good I am in that aspect,”
“Then can you hack into human heart as well?” She asked, and he almost choked on his saliva.
“What are you saying? What’s the problem?”
“You!”
“Me? How am I the problem?”
“Why did you lead me on when you have no intention of asking me out? This is crazy, I know. But why couldn’t I stop thinking about it since that day!” She said, and his eyes widened.
“Mum was right,” he muttered, in a whisper.
“What did you say?”
“It wasn’t a green light… you like me too. But why me?”
“What?”
“I like you, but I’m not confident enough to ask you out because I don’t want to be added to your rejection list, but you kept giving me green light, and confusing me at a time. You crushed on Mike since middle school, and was heartbroken when he dated Ava, you rejected many guys at school, and so many more. So why me? I thought you loathe me. What changed?”
“I don’t know! You are right! I hate you, I hate you so much that I wish I could drag you out of school. I have never lost in a competition, but I keep losing to you. I can never beat you in math and that made me hate you so much. I was tutored by the best private tutors I just it all my best… but I still lose to you. It disgusts me! But while hating you… I found myself admiring your intelligence. You never tired too hard, but you got it all. I started admiring you for being a genius, and in the process, I hated myself. I refuse to accept you to the math club because I can’t stand to be belittled by you, the other members will also feel inferior to their knowledge, so I decline all your requests. I got tired of hating myself… no matter how good I am, I can never beat you… so must I like you? I don’t want to… I wasn’t interested in dating anyone, I crushed on Mike for so long but he ended up with Ava, so those stuffs became worthless to me. We are just teenagers after all, no one knows what the future will be. I might like you now, but once we breakup, we can’t even be friends, I will have to hate you, so I rather not waste my time on things like that. Because of that, I never consider dating, I prefer having friends to being in a relationship. But why? Why can’t I maintain that principle with you? Why do I have do like you while hating you?” She blabbered, and he kissed her.
“I like you, Jess. I have liked you even when you were cyrhsung on Mike. Your determination to beat me, your courage, your charisma. I like the way you reject the others, I like the way you held up to your principles, I like it. I have been crushing on you for a long time, but I never had the courage. I know I’m not fit do you, so rejecting me would really make me berate myself. You are right, we don’t know what the future has in stock, we might break up and become more distant than strangers, but why worry about that when we are the restless because of our feelings. Let’s only think about the future we want, and not the unpleasant part,”
“Even if you become enemies later? Even when it end up failing and we have to pretend like we don’t know each other?”
“Jessica, I am not good enough, I have been in several relationships for fun, but this time, I really want to be with the one I truly like even if we might lose interest in the whole thing later, and call it quit. But we should still share beautiful moments together while we can. Will you be my girl?” He said, and she smiled.
“While we can… let’s share beautiful moments together, don’t let us worry about the unpleasant things that might happen in the future, I will be your girl,” she said, and he embraced her.
*
They sat down by the poolside Witt thier legs in the water talking about random stuffs, when she mentioned her father.
“Are you going tell him we are dating?” He asked.
“Of course I don’t hide anything from my father,”
“What? Should I be scared?”
“Just be yourself. My father is nice to me, but not to others,”
“Now, that’s really scared me,”
“You are my first boyfriend, so I don’t know how my father would react to the news. His 18-year-old daughter finally decide to date. Will it be a pleasant news? I don’t know. My father is really unpredictable,”
“What if he ask us to breakup?”
“Then we will,”
“What? We just started dating, and you could boldly say that…”
“I always listen to my father, because he understands me well even more than I understand myself. If he ask us to breakup, then his reasons must be for my best interest, so why won’t I?”
“Gosh. Sounds like your father is the only one that can keep this relationship, so I should be nicer to him instead,” he whined, and she chuckled.
“Wanna swim?”
“When the water is this cold? No, I’ll pass,”
“It’s best to swim when the water is cold. It’s comforting,” she said, and pulled him into the pool.
*
Stanley gave Jessica a ride home safely, before heading home as well, and he couldn’t help his excitement as he drove.
“No, I shouldn’t share it in the group, I should flaunt it to their faces. Austin… get ready for me,” he giggled,
He drove closer to his house, and his phone started giving a signal.
“Dad, is home. Mum!” He thought, and speed up the car.
He hurried inside, but didn’t see his mother anywhere in the living room, neither the dinning room, so he hurried to her room.
He slammed the door opened, and met his mother in the pool of blood.
“Mum, mum,” he cried, hitting her to get up.
*
He called her personal doctor later, and the doctor left after she woke up.
“How long must we do this, mum?”
“Baby… I’m sorry,”
“Why won’t you just leave him! I told you to get a divorce, don’t worry about me and get out of this shlt why won’t you listen? Must I live this way? Must I always see you get hurt?”
“Stanley…. I’m sorry…”
“That won’t do, mum! I’m tired. I get scared when dad is around, I can’t even take you to the hospital when he does this to you, I…” he cried, and she wiped his tears with her palm unable to control her tears.
“I’m sorry… son,”
He jabbed her hands off, and stood up. “Enough, mum! If you won’t leave him, then I will leave. I am tired of watching you suffering!” With that, he stormed out of the room.
“Stanley, son…” she called after him.
He went to his father’s living room, there he was watching TV.
“You m0nster. How can you be so relaxed after doing that to her,” he muttered, within clenched fists.
“Not now, boy. Come back to whine later, I’m enjoying the news,” chairman Hewlett said.
“The nerve of you!” Stanley yelled, bouncing on him.
Chairman Hewletf got angry, and pushed him to the floor, before hitting the table on him.
“Noooooo… not my son,” his mother shouted running towards them. “No, please stop. I’m going to call the police if you don’t,” she pleaded.
“So annoying,” chairman Hewlett grumbled, before leaving.
“Son, are you ok? Did you get hurt?”
“The won’t end anyways. Either of us has to dle for it to end. You won’t divorce him because of me, so when I dle, you will be free, or you will be free yourself once you are gone. It can only work either way,”
“The divorce, let’s do it,”
“Really, mum? You are going to divorce him for real? You won’t change your mind?”
“I can bear anything, son, but I can’t bear seeing you hurt. Let me… are you sure you are fine?”
“Don’t worry about me more. I’m energized by the news. I already got a divorce attorney, I will call him now to send over the divorce papers “
“What? How long have you been working on that?”
“The day you promised me to think about it,”
“Oh, son…” she muttered, touching his face.
“I will call him to send it over right away, so you can’t change your mind “
“It’s already late,”
“I had an agreement with him, he already prepared the paperwork, I told him I can request for it even at midnight, and he gave in,”
“Oh my goodness…”
*
The lawyer sent over the divorce papers, and Mrs. Hewlett hesitated looking at were to sign.
“You promise me, mum,”
“We will really lose everything, son,”
“That’s the last way out. We either lose everything, or either of our live,”
“You are right, son. We have to live,” she said, and signed it. “How will I talk to your father about this?”
“Leave the rest to me, mum. I will take care of dad myself,”
“How do you plan to do it? He will be against this,”
“Don’t let us worry about the unpleasant future. This is the happiest day of my life, mum. You will be free from dad, and I’ll be able to protect you,” he said, and embraced her.
“I’m sorry for being such an incompetent mother,”
“That’s why I will protect you instead. It’s still win-win,” he stated, and she smiled.
*
He went to his room later, thinking of a way to persuade his father and also ensure his mother won’t change her mind.
He looked at the paper, and an idea came to his mind. He smiled, and snapped the paper, and sent it anonymously to a reporter .
💬*The Hewlett’s family are falling apart*
He exhaled heavily, and closed his laptop before lying flat on his bed.
“Yes, that’s a brave step,” he muttered, covering himself up with the blanket.
*
He left home the following day after checking up on his mother, he got to school and the students started bombarding him with questions, until his friends rescued him.
*
They managed to calm him down, and he looked away in embarrassment.
“Who cares if your parent’s marriage falls apart? As long as you are still Stanley, we will always support you,” Micheal said.
“Yes, bro, Mike is right. We will always support you, not as friends, but brothers. You still have another family, man. We, MASS!” Austin said, and embraced him.
“Stip being clingy,” Stanley said, and pushed Austin away.
“Hey, did you take a picture of Stanley’s face earlier? I was so stunned that I didn’t even think of the camera,” Austin said.
“Austin will surely tease you forever with this,” Steven said, showing them the picture he took.
“Wow. You took a picture,” Austin gasped.
“Delete that now!” Stanley shouted, aiming to get the phone hit Steven ran off.
The three of them started running about, and mifheal shook his head.
“I’m literally raising three teenagers,” he grumbled.
*
They relent later, when Micheal invited them to play a game.
“Mike, you said something in the hallway. Are you serious about it? Austin asked, and Micheal looked at him confused.
“I said a lot of things,”
“I’m sure it’s the part concerning the exam,” Stanley muttered, and Austin nodded.
“Our genius knows everything,” Austin hailed.
“What about the exam?” Mifheal asked knowingly.
“That our exam will determine if we can attend the school next semester. That’s really uncalled for, can we still be friends even if I change school? Or, will there be exemptions for the MASS at least,” he said, and they all laughed.
“Are you seriously worried about that?” Micheal teased.
“Why shouldn’t I? I stopped studying the moment mh parents cut me some slack “
“Then you should study harder henceforth,”
“What? Were you serious about it? Suddenly imposing that is abuse of power!”
“And what you are doing now is abuse to education! Students are supposed to study for exams “
“What about you? Have you ever studied before?”
“Me? I’m not just a student, I am the director,” Micheal said, and winked before leaving.
“Gosh. Stan, so you think he meant that?” Austin asked.
“Go ask him, and don’t distract me from my game!” Stanley snapped.
“Yeah, yiy will do well anyways. I am the only one bothered here. Mike, the schools need a director, and the school also needs talented athletes like me. If I have to transfer schools, it would be your loss!”
“Not transfer, but drop out!” Mifheal shouted, from his study.
“Am I finally at my brink? My parents will really disown me this time,” he whined, and Stanley laughed.

MR. ALEXANDER’S (Alicia’s father) CAMPAIGN SITE^^^
^
Mr. Alexander was on the phone with someone, and he dropped the call later for attend to his campaign manager.
“Any news?”
“Mr. Packard is trying to get Mr. Narson to represent him in court. The first hearing is before the election, if Mr. Narson shows up in court, that simply means Mr. Packard will be find innocent; his daughter is also the judge in charge,”
“That won’t be good. We have to drag those Packard’s down before that happens,”
“I’m working on it, mayor. There is something you should know, it’s not certain yet but it could be,”
“What?”
“Leo met up with Ava, the ex-convict that was in the article with Mrs. Stanford, the person we put up to tail Ava reported that there might be something fishy,”
“How far have you gone? The election is behind the corners,”
“Just until Mrs. Stanford get married, she was still in touch with Leo, her favorite escort. She sent Leo to prison and married chairman Stanford, then she gave birth. When I asked a medical expert to calculate it, if Mrs. Stanford didn’t get involved with her husband before marriage, Ava might likely not be his child,”
“Then Ava is a bast@rd!” Mr. Alexander exclaimed.
“Bingo!”
“This is news,”
“But we have to prove it,”
“Sir, one of our men got in a fight with Leo, and got his hair sample, but it would be difficult with Ava,”
“Getting Ava hair sample… that should be a piece of cake,” Mr. Alexander muttered, smiling brightly. “This is your end, Grace, you have your father will hit rock bottom together, and I’ll become the mayor over you,” he thought, in excitement.
