CHAPTER 9⚔️10
Charles shook his head in disbelieve.He couldn’t believe that Evelyn Sylvester, the lady that had occupied his thoughts the whole day,was right before him.
Evelyn was stunned by the sight before her and she stood rooted to a spot.Charles Brooklyn was half-naked before her and she was as well amazed at how well-toned his body was.
“You can stop staring now”said Charles as he put on a robe.Evelyn quickly turned BAC as her face burned in embarrassment.
“Am so sorry for barging in here like this.I was told to come here for an interview”said Evelyn
“Wait here for me.”said Charles as he went into the bathroom.
Evelyn sat on the couch as she fiddled with her fingers nervously.She felt so stupid to have come into the wrong room but she was sure the receptionist mentioned the 43rd floor to her.
Charles had a quick bath and change into a plain white shirt and black trousers.He loosened the first two buttons of the shirt and dipped his hands into his pockets as he stepped out of the bedroom.
Evelyn heard sound of footsteps and her eyes almost burged out of their sockets as she stared at him.Even handsome was an underestimation of what he looked at the moment.
He looked so hot like a model and her mind skipped a thousand times in little time interval.
“You can stop drooling over me now and let’s go to my office”said Charles as he snapped his fingers in front of her eyes.
Evelyn scoffed and bit her lips in embarrassment.She couldn’t believe he caught her staring.She was lost staring at him and she didn’t even know when he got closer to her.
Charles had a smirk on his face as he stared at her.He had many women drooling over him but he didn’t know why he somehow felt so happy that she was also one of them.
He walked out of the suite and Evelyn followed him.They got into the elevator and he pressed the 40th floor.
Evelyn’s eyes widened and she realized that she must have misheard the receptionist.She had gone to the 43rd floor instead of the 40th floor.
They got to the 40th floor and Charles led her to his office.She could feel so many eyes on her but she cared less.It wasn’t like they could do anything to her,she could kill all of them without even shedding a bead of sweat.
Charles got to his office and sat on the couch gesturing to Evelyn to sit opposite.
“Do you realize that the interview you came for is over?”asked Charles.
“Yes,I am aware but I believe since I got the letter of interview then I have to be interviewed”said Evelyn and Charles stared at her in disbelieve.
How could you come late for an interview and still claim to have the right to be interviewed? Shouldn’t she be begging him at the moment?
“What Make you think the interview will be conducted for you?”asked Charles.
“I don’t think so but at least I have to come to be sure.It will be such a pain if I didn’t come at all”saw Evelyn
“Why did you come late?”Charles asked again.
“Private matters.Besides,are you already conducting the interview? Because I will be so hurt if I am just giving answers to this questions .”Evelyn said.She was getting tired of his questions.
“What makes you think you will get the job?”asked Charles and Evelyn took a deep breath in.Her chances of getting the job was so low.
“Not only did I come late but I also barged into your suite and saw you in just your underwears.Left to me,I can’t get the job but still there’s no harm in trying.”said Evelyn.
Charles’s eyes darkened as he looked at her.He h@tëd the fact that she had to be so specific about the way she saw him.
“You are hired”said Charles as he walked towards his table.Evelyn couldn’t believe her ears and a smiley curved up her lips.
“Really?Thank you but wait why did you hire me so easily?”asked Evelyn.She was bothered that he had got to know about her mission.
“Who do you think I am?I am Charles Brooklyn,the richest young man in the country.Do you think I will just let you go after you’ve seen me half-naked?.I have to keep you under my watch so you don’t go are spreading rumors”said Charles and Evelyn narrower her eyes as she stared at him.
He couldn’t think of any other reason than that.He couldn’t explain what he was feeling towards her so he needed to keep her around till he found out.He watched her and he was afraid that she might not want the job anymore.
“Ok then I will always be by your side and never leave you alone”said Evelyn and Charles’s heart skipped.
He knew she meant nothing much but he didn’t know why he felt like she was making an eternal promise to him.
“This girl is going to be the end of me”he said to himself.
“When should stop start working?”asked Evelyn.
“Tomorrow”Charles simply replied.He would have loved her to start that very day but that will only get her suspicious.
Evelyn nodded and she walked out and the office.
Charge watched as he left and his heart suddenly felt empty as he sighed sadly.
