⟨ HIS UNDYING PAINS ⟩
Inside the King’s chamber, Queen Anjali’s voice was loudly heard as she ranted about what Cheng did earlier.
“Can you at least keep quiet for a second?” Queen Vanya asked.
“And why should I? You saw what Cheng did at the ceremony, right? A lot of people came from different kingdoms to celebrate a decade of peace, but Cheng almost killed everyone with his dark powers. Is all your fault!!!” Queen Anjali shouted at Queen Vanya.
“And how is it my fault?” Queen Vanya asked.
“Are you seriously asking me that? Weren’t you the one who suggested that Cheng comes to the ceremony. If he hasn’t come to the ceremony, it won’t have gotten ruined. So it all your fault!!!” Queen Anjali shouted.
“Queen Anjali!!” King Osvaldo called her name and Queen Anjali looks at him.
“You don’t have to nitpick on Queen Vanya. Is all my fault for sending a message to Cheng to come over to the main palace. I should have know that a demon will always be a demon” King Osvaldo said..
“There’s no use crying over split milk my King. The deal has been done and everyone in Maelstrom including outside Maelstrom will know that the third Prince of Maelstrom is a demon, so I suggest he should be exile or better still, killed” Queen Anjali said.
“Queen Anjali!!! How can you suggest such a thing!!” Queen Vanya yells at her.
“That’s the best thing to do” She said.
“Best thing to do? If Cheng was your child, would you have suggested he should be killed because of the demon inside of him?” Queen Vanya asked.
“Well that’s where the problem lies Queen Vanya. Cheng is not my son and I know for sure, that I can never birth a demon. So my King….”
“Get out of my sight” King Osvaldo said, cutting her short.
“But my King….”
“Do it now or you will be the one to get killed instead!!” King Osvaldo shouted at her.
Queen held the hem of her robe and threw a deadly glare at Queen Vanya, before leaving.
“I apologise on behalf of Queen Anjali for her improper behavior” Queen Vanya said with a bow.
“Is fine Queen Vanya. What do you suggest I do regarding Cheng?” King Osvaldo asked.
“Well I suggest you let him remain in the cottage in the faraway side of the palace. After all he was there for ten years and didn’t hurt anyone. If you decide to exile him, he’s going to get worst. I’m afraid the demon inside of him will kill a lot of people. It will also be difficult to kill him, since he has dark magic. So I suggest he remains in the cottage where no one can see or talks to him” Queen Vanya said.
“Thank you so much for your suggestion my Queen” He said and Queen Vanya bows with a smile.
“Who was that girl from earlier?” King Osvaldo asked.
“Who?”
“The maid who stopped Cheng from going wild” King Osvaldo asked.
“Her name is Tatiana. She’s a new recruited maid and she’s one of Narmada’s personal maids.
“Can I see her?” He asked.

⟨ SOMEWHERE IN THE PALACE ⟩
“How did you do it?” Waylon and Narmada asked Tatiana at the same time.
“Do what?” Tatiana asked.
“Don’t tell me you have forgotten what you did earlier. You stopped Cheng from going wild” Waylon said.
“I don’t know, your highness. I just told him it was me and he just transformed back to being human” Tatiana said.
She too was confused wondering why Cheng was able to control his demon because of her.
“You called him by his name, are you too close?” Narmada asked.
“I knew him from childhood days” Tatiana answers and Narmada nods her head.
“But is still confusing on how you were able to stop him from hurting you. I remembered ten years ago when he went wild, no one could stop him from destroying the entire palace. He only stopped after he was satisfied and after killing a lot of people” Narmada said.
But Tatiana didn’t say a word. She badly wanted to check up on Cheng since he was taken back to the cottage in his unconscious state, but she knew she can’t do it, since everyone is still awake.
“Are you by chance going back to that cottage when I clearly told you not to?” Waylon asked, while Narmada looks at Tatiana.
“Of course not. You said it’s forbidden for anyone to go there right? So why should I disobey your order and that of the king?” Tatiana asked.
Waylon smiles lightly and hugs her.
“I’m glad you’re okay Tatiana. I thought Cheng was going to kill you” He said and Narmada smiles.
“Thanks for worrying about me, your highness” Tatiana said, breaking the hug and bowing to him.
Zelda approach them and bowed his head to both Waylon and Narmada.
“What do you want?” Waylon asked.
“The King wishes to see her” Zelda said with a bow. Waylon looks at Tatiana, and she gulped down hard.

“So Cheng was your childhood friend?” King Osvaldo asked Tatiana when she got to the king’s chamber.
“Yes my King” She said.
“But how did you both became friends? From what I remember, I didn’t allow my children to leave the palace when they were kids. And Cheng after turning into a demon was left in the cottage for ten years” King Osvaldo said.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you this father, but Cheng left the palace on the night of the lantern festival ten years ago. That was when Cheng met her” Waylon answers the question on Tatiana’s behalf.
“That means you both met just once ten years ago, right?” King Osvaldo asked.
“Yes” Tatiana answers.
“Then how come you have so much effect on Cheng. Or do you have magic powers too?” He asked.
“Of course not my King. I’m just an ordinary maiden, I don’t have any powers” Tatiana said.
“Too bad then. I thought you were the key of helping Cheng out, but I was wrong. Anyways thank you for at least stopping him from going wild. You can report back to your room and have some rest. Is late” The King said.
Tatiana bows to him.

“Go in and sleep Tatiana” Waylon said when they got to her room door.
“Thank you your highness” Tatiana said, and was about entering the room, but Waylon held her.
“You have bruised marks on your neck. Come with me I’ll treat it for you” He said, but Tatiana takes her hand from him.
“Is fine, your highness. I can treat myself and it will be weird that a prince is treating a maid’s wound. I’ll go in now”.
“Don’t ever go back to the cottage, is an order” Waylon said.
“Fine, I won’t” She said and enters the room and meets Kira knitting.
“You’re finally here. I was so worried about you” Kira said.
“I’m fine”.
“But you were genuine earlier Tatiana. It was my first time seeing Prince Cheng as a demon. The rumors going on in the palace about him were true, but how were you able to stop him?” Kira asked.
“I don’t know. Aren’t you going to sleep?” She asked, cuz she can’t leave with Kira still awake.
“No. I’ll be up all night knitting, Is for my mother’s business, so I’m helping her out. You can go ahead and sleep Tatiana” Kira said.
Tatiana fakes a smile and laid on the bed and with every hours that pass, she kept looking at Kira to see if she has fallen asleep, but she was still very much awake, knitting.
*Why can’t she just sleep, I need to see Cheng* She muttered inwardly. And she kept checking on Kira still it was Dawn.
