“Robert, how is it, is Nathan dead?” A male voice asked.
“I don’t know, but the guy I sent isn’t picking up my calls,” Mr. Robert replied.
“What should we do now, we don’t know if Nathan has been killed or not” A female said.
“We need to be patient, I’m sure the guy can’t fail” Mr. Robert said and they all started chatting with each other.
Mr. Robert let out a short sigh and said.
“I see no reason why we need to kill Nathan, since his mother is one of us I’m sure the kid is going to keep his mouth shut” Mr. Robert said and they all kept quiet with their eyes on him.
“You really don’t know what’s going on, Robert”
“That boy you called a kid as a video of you killing Rudy”
“What”
“That’s not possible,” Mr. Robert said, his voice rising in panic.
“No one could have been filming! We made sure the area was secure”
“Are you sure?” A female voice asked.
“Maybe one of the boys was careless and didn’t secure the perimeter well enough”
“No, that’s not possible,” Mr. Robert said, shaking his head.
“I’m sure of it, No one could have gotten close enough to film us” Mr. Robert said and one of them laughed.
“You sound pretty certain, Robert” The laughing man said, his tone amused.
“Are you sure you didn’t miss anything?” He asked and Mr. Robert’s jaw clenched.
“I’m positive,” He said, trying to keep his voice even.
“We checked every inch of the area, there’s no way someone could have been there”
Mr. Robert said and The man laughed again.
“I’m sorry,” The man said, still sounding amused.
“But this is just hilarious”
“You’re so sure of yourself, and yet you clearly missed something,” The man laughed.
Mr. Robert’s face was getting red with anger.
“This isn’t funny,” Mr. Robert said, his voice rising.
“This is a serious situation, and you’re making ….”
“That’s enough, you two,” A female voice said, cutting off the conversation.
Mr. Robert with the man and the other members in the room looked up in shock to see a woman in her thirties standing at the doorway with her arms crossed.
She had dark brown hair pulled back into a tight ponytail, a red lipstick and she was wearing a expressive matching red gown and heels which made her look very rich.
Nathan’s mother was standing next to her.
She is their leader and they all stood up in respect.
“This is no time for argument,” She said, her tone stern walking into the room with Nathan’s mother.
“Welcome Ms. Leah” They all chorused.
She got to her seat and sat down.
“You all can sit down” She said and everyone returned to their seats including Nathan’s mother who sat beside Mr. Robert.
“Ms. Leah,” Mr. Robert said and The man called.
“We apologize for the commotion”
“There’s no need to apologize,” Ms. Leah said.
“I understand that tensions are running high right now, but we need to stay focused”
She looked around the group, her gaze sweeping over them.
“First things first, I’m sure you all know why I am here today?”
Ms. Leah asked, her very voice serious and everyone nodded.
“It all has to do with Nathan,” A female voice replied.
Nathan’s Mother’s heart started to race, and she felt a knot forming in her stomach.
“I know this is difficult, but we need to put our personal feelings aside and work together, Okay?” Ms. Leah said, looking at Nathan’s Mother.
Everyone nodded in agreement, and the atmosphere in the room shifted from tense to determined.
“But I’m afraid I have some bad new, the plan have changed”
“What?”
The group gasped in shock and a murmur went through the room.
“That’s impossible!” A male voice exclaimed.
“We can’t just do that”
“We all know what Nathan did was wrong”
“He shouldn’t have spy on us”
“We need to kill him”
“We’re ready to…
“Silent everyone” Ms. Leah said and the room went silent, everyone looking at her expectantly.
“I know what Nathan did was wrong and he deserves to die but we need to consider the fact that his mother is one of us” Ms. Leah said looking at Nathan’s Mother again.
“I know it’s a lot to take in guys since he called the cops on us but thanks to our connection with them nothing happened,” Ms. Leah said, her voice sympathetic.
“So this is the new plan,”
DAYTON COLLEGE.
GIRL DORMITORY.
LINDA AND CELINE APARTMENT.
Linda’s Room.
Linda was sitting on her bed, flipping through a magazine, when there was a knock on the door.
She looked up, curious, she wasn’t expecting anyone.
“Come in,” She called out, and the door opened to reveal Celine.
“Oh, its you”
“Hey, Linda,” Celine said, coming in with a tray full of cookies and two glasses of milk then she closed the door behind her.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said earlier,” Celine said, coming over to sit on the bed next to Linda.
“It’s just been weighing on my mind, you know?”
“I understand, but it’s not him,” Linda said, putting down her magazine and giving Celine her full attention.
“I know but …”
“Are those cookies for me?” Linda asked, cutting her off.
“Yes, I thought you might like a little something sweet”
“Oh, that’s so thoughtful of you,” Linda said, picking up a cookie and taking a bite.
“These are delicious, do you bake them?” Linda asked.
“Yes,” Celine replied.
“You’re such a great baker,” Linda said, taking another bite then drinking the milk.
Celine smiled..
“Thanks! I’m glad you like them,” She said, her expression turning serious again.
“Can we talk about what you meant before?” Celine said and Linda sighs.
“You really don’t believe me when I said he wasn’t the one,” Linda said.
“Yes” Celine nodded and Linda sighs again.
“See Celine the only reason why I said Rudy was Cody is because you and your friend look sad so I thought I should cheer you guys up with a little lie” Linda said.
Celine stared at Linda, her mouth open in surprise.
“You… what? You made up a story to cheer us up?”
Linda nodded, her cheeks turning red with embarrassment.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to lie to you guys, but I could tell you were depressed, and I wanted to help,” Linda said.
“So all that stuff about Rudy being Cody, are …are… are lies….” Celine said, her voice trailing off.
“It was all made up,” Linda said, hanging her head.
“I’m really sorry, I know it was wrong to lie, but I didn’t know what else to do, I just wanted to cheer you up” Linda said.
Celine was silent for a moment, trying to process what she had just heard.
Then she sighed and looked at Linda.
“I appreciate the thought of you trying to cheer us up but that was a pretty big lie,” She said.
“Do you know how happy I am when you said Rudy was the same guy as Cody, and now I find out that none of it was true”
“I don’t know what to think of this anymore” Celine said, her voice full of disappointment.
“I’m sorry,” Linda said slowly.
“It’s fine,” Celine said, wiping the little tears rolling down her eyes.
“Are you crying?” Linda asked.
Celine pauses for a moment, trying to decide how to answer.
She finally spoke.
“I’m just feeling a little emotional right now, because I miss him,” She said, her voice slightly cracking.
“Are you talking about Rudy?” Linda asked.
“Yes, if I knew he was going to died I won’t have skip school the day he was getting suspended” Celine
Linda was silent for a moment, absorbing what Celine had said.
“You shouldn’t blame yourself for what happened,” Linda said gently.
“You couldn’t have known what was going to happen, It’s not your fault”
Celine looked down at her lap.
“I know,” She said.
“B-but I still can’t help but wonder if things would have turned out differently if I had been there”
Linda put a hand on Linda’s shoulder.
“I understand how you’re feeling, but there’s no way to know what would have happened if things were different”
“All we can do now is focus on the present and try to move forward and if you need someone to talk to about all of this, I’m here for you” Linda said and Celine smiled at her, grateful for her support.
“Thank you,” She said.
“I really appreciate that and I’m also sorry for putting all of this on you” Celine said.
“It’s fine,” Linda said and Celine smiled.
“Anyway can I ask what type of relationship was between you and Rudy” Linda asked.
“You mean, was he my friend?” Celine asked.
“Well, yes, but I meant more like were you guys friends or just classmates or something else” Linda asked and Celine thought for a moment.
“Well, we were in the same class sitting beside each other, but we weren’t really friends”
“I mean I would love to become his friend or more, but I don’t think he like to have one and we do talk sometimes”
“I see, so what you mean by more is you mean like having a romantic relationship with him?” Linda asked, and Celine’s face turned pink.
“W-well, I mean, maybe not exactly that,” Celine stammered, embarrassed.
“I just meant that, you know”
“Umm, we’ve kiss before”
“What?” Linda’s eyes widened in shock.
“You guys have kissed each other before?” Linda asked, still in shock.
“Yes , but ….”
“Cody has never kissed me before” Linda cut in feeling hurt.
FLORA’S CAFE.
“So this is the Mr. Robert daughter” Cody said inwardly looking at Sally as she ate then stared at Max.
“Today was super fun, thanks to you,” Sally said while eating.
“Yeah” Cody muttered, staring at Max who stood behind the counter.
Sally noticed the way he looked at Max.
“Do you know?” She asked and Cody shook his head.
“He also attended our school” Sally said and Cody nodded then suddenly asked.
“I thought girls aren’t allowed inside the boy’s dorm, how are you able to enter?” Cody asked.
“I have my ways to enter, remember my father owns the school” Sally said.
“Wait, so you have access to all the boys’ dorm rooms?” He asked, sounding shocked on purpose and Sally smiled mischievously.
“I do,” She said and Cody suddenly chuckled.
“What’s funny?” Sally asked.
“It’s just… I never thought about how beautiful you look” Cody said, still grinning.
“Really” Sally smiled.
“Yeah, but you eat like a horse,” Cody said.
