“Thanks, Mike,” Nathan said as they came out of the repair store.
“You’re welcome,” Mike smiled.
“I hope you won’t be mad at my girlfriend anymore” Mike added and Nathan laughed before he said.
“I wasn’t mad at her”
“Really? But you seem pretty pissed off when she makes you drop your phone” Mike said and Nathan smiled.
“Let’s just forget about that, since you’ve already paid for the repair,” Nathan said.
“Sure, so do you want a ride?” Mike asked.
“Since your car isn’t here, I can help you home if you want?” Mike asked as they approached his car.
“Hmmm, thanks for offering though but I think I will walk home instead” Nathan replied.
“Okay, I guess we will be seeing each other tomorrow,” Mike smile getting into his car.
“Yeah, bye” Nathan waved at Mike as he drove off then began to stare at Mike’s car till it was out of sight.
He quickly brought out his phone to check if the video was still on it then smiled when he saw the video, he went straight to his contacts next.
“I should text him,” Nathan muttered and sent a message to Cody.
He returned the phone back to his pocket then let out a short sigh afterwards and he looked around to make sure no one was staring at him suspiciously.
He smiled after confirming that he was safe and started walking away.
“He is finally alone,we should follow him”
“Yes, but the plan as change”
“Huh?”
“We won’t be collecting his phone alone, we have to kill him also”
“What? But I thought Ms. Leah …..”
“Shut up, this is the new order so drive”
“Okay,” He said, driving slowly behind Nathan.
Nathan was completely unaware of the car behind him.
FLORA’S CAFE.
“I have my ways to enter, remember my father owns the school” Sally said.
“Wait, so you have access to all the boys’ dorm rooms?” He asked, sounding shocked on purpose and Sally smiled mischievously.
“I do,” She said and Cody suddenly chuckled.
“What’s funny?” Sally asked.
“It’s just… I never thought about how beautiful you look” Cody said, still grinning.
“Really” Sally smiled.
“Yeah, but you eat like a horse,” Cody said.
“What”
“I’m just teasing you,” Cody said, holding up his hands in a gesture of peace.
“I think it’s kind of cute how much you enjoy your food, it’s like you’re really appreciating every bite” Cody said and Sally laughed.
“Well, I do appreciate a good meal,” She said.
“Life’s too short to not enjoy the little things”
“I like your philosophy,” Cody said.
“So what’s your favorite food?”
“Oh, that’s a tough question,” Sally said, thinking.
“There are so many delicious things in the world”
“But I think I’d have to go with pizza, It’s just so versatile”
“You can put anything on it, and it always tastes great”
“Plus, it’s just so comforting there’s nothing like a slice of pizza when you’re feeling down.”
“That’s true,” Cody said.
“And pizza is also great for sharing, It’s the perfect food for a party or a night in with friends” Cody added.
“Exactly,” Sally said.
“It’s the ultimate social food and it’s perfect for any time of day” Sally smiled.
“Another thing I love about pizza is that it’s so accessible,” Sally said.
“You can get it delivered, or you can make it yourself, there are so many different ways to enjoy it”
“That’s true,” Cody said.
“And there are so many different styles of pizza, too, you’ve got your New York style, your Chicago deep dish, your California style…”
“I know, right?” Sally said, getting excited.
“You could spend a lifetime exploring the world of pizza” Sally said, then dropped her spoon.
“I’m full,” Sally smiled.
“After finishing up to ten different dishes,” Cody said.
“Eleven” Sally said, blushing slightly.
“Eleven!” Cody exclaimed, his eyebrows raised.
“You ate eleven different dishes? Wow! You must have a bottomless stomach!”
Cody said and Sally laughed.
“I wish!” She said,
“But really, it was just small portions of different things”
“Really? And you ate eleven” Cody said.
“Yes, really!” Sally said with a laugh.
“It may sound like a lot, but I do eat more than that sometimes, especially when I am alone,” Sally smiled.
“You eat more when you’re alone?” Cody asked, surprised.
“Why is that?”
“Well, I think it’s because when I’m with other people like my father’s friend, I tend to be more social and don’t talk a lot,” Sally said.
“So I take smaller bites and eat more slowly, but when I’m alone, I tend to focus on the food more and just enjoy it without any distractions”
“So it’s almost like you’re more mindful when you’re eating alone, and that allows you to eat more?”
“Exactly!” Sally said, happy that Cody understood.
“But how do you keep your body from getting fat?” Cody asked.
“Oh, I make sure to eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercise just the way you do,” Sally said.
Cody raised his brows and she smiled.
“I try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and I make sure to get some protein and healthy fats, and I try to stay active by jogging or biking every morning”
“I think it’s important to take care of your body, both physically and mentally”
“I think you’re an example of what I’m saying” Sally said and Cody chuckled.
“You know nothing,” Cody said inwardly.
“That’s really interesting,” Cody said.
“So who is your father’s friend?” Cody asked.
“Oh, my father have a lot of friends”
“But if I had to pick one, I’d say his best friend is Nathan’s Mother,” Sally said.
“Nathan’s Mother?”
“Yes”
“Nathan’s Mother is a close family friend who has known my father for many years,” Sally explained.
“She is like a mother to me, and she has always been there for me when I need her”
“She is kind, caring, and wise, and I feel very lucky to have her in my life”
“She sounds like an incredible woman,” Cody said.
“Yes, she is”
“What about Nathan?” Cody asked.
“Nathan is like my younger brother, even though we’re not actually related,” Sally continued.
“He and his sister as always been there for me, and I know I can count on them for anything”
“Nathan’s smart, funny, but he always ends up finding himself in a dangerous situation,” Sally laughed.
“He’s the best little brother I could ask for but he ignored today acting like he doesn’t know” Sally said, folding her tiny fist.
“He should have called me big sis not the principal daughter” Sally frown and Cody laughed.
“It’s not funny” Sally pouted.
“Hey, I’m not laughing at you,” Cody said, trying to comfort her.
“Yeah, I know,” Sally said.
“It’s just frustrating, you know? I feel like he doesn’t see me as his big sister, just the principal’s daughter”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” Cody said.
“It sounds like he made a mistake, and didn’t think about how it would make you feel”
“Maybe he just panicked when he saw you,” Cody said and Sally sighs.
“So how did your father and Nathan’s Mother meet?”
“My father and Nathan’s Mother met through work,” Sally said.
“Work?”
“Yeah, they worked together on a project and they just clicked, they’ve been close friends ever since” Sally said.
“What kind of work?” Cody asked.
“I don’t really know,” Sally replied.
“Oh, you don’t know what they did for work?” Cody asked.
“That’s a little surprising, I think you would know, since it’s how they met”
“Have you never asked your dad about it?”
“Well, anytime I tried to ask my dad, he just ignored me and said it was none of my business,” Sally said.
“It’s like he doesn’t want to talk about it, I always wondered why, but I never pushed him on it”
“I thought maybe it was something he didn’t want to talk about.”
“That’s interesting,” Cody said.
“It makes me wonder if there’s something about his work that he doesn’t want you to know”
“Maybe it’s not as innocent as it seems”
Sally’s eyes widened.
“What do you mean? You don’t think he’s done something bad, do you?” Sally asked.
“Maybe ” Cody replied.
“Anyway, what is Nathan’s Mother’s name?” Cody asked.
“I don’t know her last name but her first name is Susan” Sally said.
“Susan” Cody muttered as his expression slowly changed.
“Is everything okay?” Sally asked.
“Yeah, everything is fine,” Cody replied.
“It’s just that the name sounds familiar, I think I’ve heard it somewhere before,” Cody said.
“Do you think you might have met her before?” Sally asked
“Or maybe heard her name mentioned in passing?”
“I’m not sure,” Cody said, furrowing his brow.
“The name is just nagging at the back of my mind, I can’t quite place it, but it feels important”
“That’s really odd,” Sally said.
“I wonder if there’s some connection you’re not aware of”
“Maybe,” Cody said.
“It’s just so strange, I can’t put my finger on it”
They were both quiet for a moment, pondering the mystery of the familiar name.
After a moment, Cody suddenly stood up.
“Here, take this” He brought out a black card and dropped it on the table.
“Pay for the food and get back to the school,” Cody said.
“Huh?” Sally raised her brows not understanding what was going on.
“The pin is 02….” Cody quickly whispered into her ear.
“You’re paying for me?” Sally asked, shocked.
“You don’t have to do that! I can pay for my own food”
“I know you can, but I want to”
Cody said and began to walk toward the cafe door.
He was still in thoughts remembering where he heard the name Susan from.
“Yeah I remember now before I went unconscious after the bullet hit me, Mr. Robert mention the name Susan”
“So she is the lady beside him, that morning” Cody was still lost in thoughts when he suddenly bumped into someone.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Cody said, realizing he’d bumped into one of the workers at the cafe who was entering the cafe.
The worker was tall and had a black hair with a shy smile.
He wore a black apron and a black nose mask.
“It’s no problem, sir, you just have to be careful where you’re going next time….”
“Max” Cody called.
“Huh? How did you know my….” He paused.
“Wait, is that you Rudy”
