HOSPITAL, WARD 25.
“So she stabbed you because she thought you’re the one that killed Rudy?” Ellie asked, staring at Adrian.
“She was wrong of course,” Adrian said.
“I didn’t kill Rudy”
“I know who did, but I can’t tell you I’ve already said too much”
“What do you mean?” Ellie asked, confused.
“If you know who killed him, you need to tell the police!”
“I can’t,” Adrian said, shaking his head.
“It’s complicated. I wish I could tell you more, but I just can’t. I’m sorry”
Ellie stared at him, her expression a mix of frustration and concern.
“Please, Adrian. You have to tell someone”
“This is a murder case, and the killer could strike again, It’s not safe for you to keep this information to yourself”
“I know that,” Adrian said, his voice cracking.
“But I can’t risk it. There’s too much at stake”
“What could possibly be more important than bringing a murderer to justice?” Ellie asked, her voice rising.
“What is it that you’re so afraid of?”
“The principal” He said inwardly.
“I can’t tell you,” Adrian said, his eyes pleading.
“Please, just trust me, I’m doing what I think is best”
Ellie’s shoulders slumped, and she let out a long sigh.
“Fine,” She said, her voice resigned.
“I’ll trust you, for now”
“But I still think you’re making a mistake, this is bigger than you, Adrian”
“I know,” Adrian said, his voice soft.
“But I have to do what I think is right,I’m sorry”
Ellie nodded, and they sat in silence for a few moments.
“You said you’d come back if you got a lead,” Ellie said, breaking the silence.
“Have you found anything?”
Adrian shook his head.
“No,” He said, his voice defeated.
“I’ve turned up nothing, I’ve talked to everyone I can think of, and followed every lead I’ve gotten”
“But I’m hitting dead ends, I don’t know what else to do”
Ellie’s heart sank as she watched the frustration and hopelessness written across Adrian’s face.
“It’s okay,” She said, placing a hand on his arm.
“You’re doing everything you can,sometimes we just have to forget about the past and move on”
“I know that you’re not the one that killed Rudy and I’m very sure your sister is going to believe you once she knows who killed him,” Ellie said.
Adrian looked at her, his eyes shining with gratitude.
“Thanks,” He said.
Mina who had been eavesdropping on their conversation from outside the ward suddenly burst into tears.
NEAR THE ALLEY.
“So she did this because she thought”
“Why are they hiding”
“I guess I am about to find out what they are up to”
Cody stepped into the alley.
He didn’t know what to expect, but he was determined to find out what these men were up to.
As he made his way deeper into the alley, he noticed that the four guys were still following him.
Then the boss and two more guys showed up in front of him.
“You finally decided to show yourself?” Cody said, staring at the guy who seems to be the boss.
“Are you Cody Watson?” The Boss asked and Cody nodded.
“Yes that’s me,do you have any problem with me” Cody asked and the boss shook his head.
“No, I just wanna chat with you for a bit” The boss said.
“Chat? I don’t think so” Cody said.
“Why?” The boss asked.
“Cuz, I don’t chat with strangers, especially the one who sent his boys to follow me around,” Cody replied.
“Ohh,sorry about that,” The boss said.
“Apology accepted,” Cody said.
“And what’s your name before we start this chat of yours” Cody asked.
“My name is Luis and I am here by my boss order”
“She wants to see you,” Luis said.
“Me?” Cody pointed at himself.
“She?” He raised his brows in confusion.
“She wants to see me?” Cody asked.
“Yes,” Luis replied with a nod.
“But why?” Cody asked and Luis didn’t reply.
“Who is she?” Cody asked.
“I can’t tell you that either,” Luis replied.
“Why?”
“She will be the one to tell you herself if you follow us” Luis said and Cody frowned.
“Then, I’m not going,” He said.
“Huh?”
“I’m not following you guys to her” Cody said and waved his hand.
“Bye, I’m leaving” He said and Luis smiled.
“What are you smiling about?” Cody asked.
Luis didn’t answer, instead motioning to his men.
Two of them moved to block the entrance to the alley, while the other four moved closer to Cody.
“What are you up to?” Cody asked.
“Since you won’t follow us peacefully I had no other choice than to use force” Luis said and Cody chuckled.
“You think this is funny?” Luis asked, a dangerous look in his eyes.
“I could ask you the same question,” He replied.
“I’m not joking, Mr. Cody. My boss wants to see you, and I’m going to make sure that happens, no matter what it takes” Luis said.
“Fine, I don’t want any trouble,” He said, holding up his hands in a gesture of surrender.
“I’ll come with you, but please, don’t hurt me,” Cody said.
“Smart choice,” Luis said, his sneer turning into a smile.
He motioned to his men, and they started to close in on Cody.
Cody sighs sadly as the men close in around him.
He knew he was outnumbered, and he could easily beat them if he wanted to, they are just seven not ten.
Just as the men were about to grab him, Cody smiled darkly and lashed out.
He punched one of them in the face.
The man stumbled back, clutching his nose, blood gushing from his nostrils.
The other men froze, staring at the man on the ground in shock.
They had not expected such a sudden and violent reaction from Cody.
“What the hell?” One of them exclaimed, his voice shaking.
“Get him!” Luis shouted, breaking the silence.
The men rushed towards Cody, but he was ready for them.
He ducked under the first punch, and then landed a powerful kick to the stomach of the second man.
He doubled over, gasping for breath.
The third man lunged at Cody, but he sidestepped him, and then sent a roundhouse kick into his chest.
The man was knocked off his feet, and he landed hard on the ground.
The fourth man froze, looking from his fallen comrades to Cody in disbelief.
“What the hell are you?” He asked, his voice trembling.
Cody smiled, his eyes flashing with a dark light.
“I’m not what you think I am,” He said, his voice low and menacing.
“I’m something much, much worse”
The fourth man turned and ran, disappearing into the shadows of the alley.
Cody chuckled seeing the way the fourth man ran then turned to face Luis, who was staring at him with a mixture of fear and awe.
“I’ve seen him fight before and know how he defeated Donald’s boy. I have made plans to outnumber him this time so it will be easy to defeat him but I wasn’t expecting a different outcome. He never fights like that. That wasn’t even a man, he fought like a trained professional with a dangerous side to him. He was so cool, and he is more dangerous than I ever thought” Luis thought to himself.
“I guess it’s time to use Plan B” Luis said inwardly winking to the two guys blocking the entrance to the alley and they ran away.
“Sorry about this Mr. Cody” Luis said and immediately started running out of the alley.
But just as he reached the end of the alley, something hit him in the back of the head, making him stumble and fall to the ground.
Before he could get up, someone had a hand on his arm, hauling him to his feet.
He turned to see Cody standing there, a cold smile on his face.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Cody asked, his voice low and dangerous.
Luis struggled to break free, but Cody’s grip was like iron.
“Let me go!” He yelled, panic rising in his throat.
“Not a chance,” Cody replied.
“You’re coming with me, whether you like it or not”
Luis tried to fight back, but it was no use.
Cody was too strong, and he felt himself being dragged out of the alley and into the street.
Luis quickly put his hand in his pocket and brought out an injection filled with a colorless liquid.
Without a second thought, he plunged the needle into Cody’s neck, pushing down on the plunger.
Cody let out a roar of pain as his grip on his grip on Luis loosened, he stumbled backwards with his eyes wide with shock.
“What have you done to me?” He demanded, clutching at his neck.
“I’ve given you a little something to make you fall asleep” Luis said, a smirk on his face.
“It’s call MIDAZOLAM INJECTION”
“What’s that?” Cody asked, his head spinning.
“It’s a sedative that works pretty quickly,” Luis said, his voice sounding far away.
“You’ll be out like a light in a few minutes”
Cody tried to protest, but his words came out slurred and incoherent.
His vision was starting to blur, and he felt himself sinking to the ground.
“Don’t fight it,” Luis said, his voice fading in and out.
“Just close your eyes and let it take you”
Cody tried to resist, but his body was no longer under his control.
His eyelids drooped shut, and he fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
