Micheal tossed and turned on his bed when his third alarm sounded. He had already broke the first two when it sounded and he started contemplating about getting up or breaking the third one as well. He drifted back to dream land after breaking it down until his usual nightmare woke him up. He opened his eyes immediately, and left the bed. That’s just how he is, he might look outstanding among his peers, but seven alarms always work together but none ever wake p, only him uhis nightmare could do the magic. His staffs replace his alarms everyday.

Waking up to a new day has always been a struggle to him, it was like a mission to fight or accept defeat so he just had to keep moving.

He went to freshen up and did all his morning routine before going out, and met his staffs assembled by the doorway – as usual.

“Good morning, Mr. Russ.” They chorused, and he walked past them.

“Mr. Russ, the chairman request your present at the main dinning hall.” Mr. Jones; his personal assistant said.

Mr. Jones has been working for him since he was a child, so of all the staff he had, Mr. Jones is the only one that dares to communicate with him.

“Dad is back!” He thought, as Mr. Jones escorted him to the dinning hall.

His family was not different from many other conglomerates family; everyone are busy attending to their business that they barely seat together to have a meal. His father is the chairman of Russ Group, and his mother was the vice, neither was he an expectation. He learnt about the business in a tender age, and he has been doing well so far. His hard work earned him the position of the director of Holland high, and he intend to ace more wins once he graduates from high school.
.
“Good morning, dad, good morning, mum.” He greeted and took his respectable seat.

“I heard that you proposed that the school stop admitting scholarship applicants.” Chairman Russ said, and Micheal looked at him – that’s their usual way to exchanging greeting.

“Yes, dad. I felt it’s wrong for elites to associate with the likes of them. It’s understandable enough that we’ve to put up with the students in the regular class, but those scholarships students are way beneath our leagues.” He said, and the chairman nodded while his mother chuckled.

“Interesting.” Mrs. Russ said.

“Micheal, the community are against our system of separating classes based on hierarchy, admitting one from them is our way of pleasing them, so I would advise you rethink that before proposing it.”

“Why should their opinions matter?”

“Because no matter how big you are, you need the society approval With that being said, I would advise you introduce a compulsory volunteer program for all the students in the supreme class, that’s going to be a huge advantage to you.”

“What? No, never. No one is gonna turn up to that, I personally won’t. The purpose of canceling scholarships is to avoid the likes of them.”

“But you will always need them. They are the crowds that will attack each other to hail your praise.” The chairman said, and Micheal nodded, although he wasn’t pleased.
*
He arrived at school, and headed to the MASS suite – an elegant hangout designed for him and his friends.

“Mike, wassup.” Austin greeted, and they exchanged a friendly gesture.

“Guys, I strongly recommend that school days should be reduced to thrice a week, five days is kllling.” Stanley whined, wobbling on his feet to join them.

“If I got three quarter of your brain, I’d quit school.” Austin blurted.

“I’m against that motion. To me, school is simply a place to relive stress with pride. The weekend is always packed, buddies.” Micheal said.

“Arrggh…”. Austin and Stanley screamed, and Steven entered the room.

“Steve, wassup.” Austin greeted, and they both exchanged friendly gestures. He exchanged greetings with the others and went to seat.

They might have been friends for years, but he is always quiet. He barely utter anything in a conversation.

“Guyyysssss… I finally found a new babe.” Stanley said in jubilant, and they scoffed.

He fancy cars a lot, and considered them his babe. After a long list of unserious relationships, he surrendered that filling his heart with what he loves is worth more than devoting it to someone.

“Guys, we gotta get this one. Matching with this new ride to Chris party next weekend would make an amazing entrance.” He said, and Micheal nodded.

“Mike, don’t tell me you are listening to him. This obsessed man can do anything to make us get that car. I’m out, I’ve more than enough cars already.” Austin blurted.

“Enough isn’t the end, bro. There is what we called exceed. We might likely be the first teenager to get this in California.” Stanley said.

“I’m not falling for that again. I rather spend my money on a nightstand. Guys, cancel all your plans this month end it’s a three days tournament in an exclusive club. Italian girls are the hosts, and to spice it up, they grant special requests.” Austin said licking his lips.

“What are you going to do with your sugarpie if you are away for three days. You gotta explain that.” Micheal teased.

“We’ll break up before then. So, in?” He asked, and Micheal scoffed.

“I gotta check my schedule.” Micheal said.

“Adjust it, man and don’t play director shit with us.”

“Three days tournament with exclusive offer is a good idea, but imagine matching in with this beautiful baby.” Stanley said, and Austin hissed while Michael laughed.

“Then that means we are in. I’m gonna make reservations now.” Austin said.

“It’s still weeks away.” Michael said.

“Do you know how many people are into this offer? A tournament is gold, trust me you won’t regret it.” Austin said.

“Your wish! And I also agree with Stan. We should get that car before any other teenager gets it. We can’t lose to Roy like the last time.” Micheal said, and they both looked at him.

“That’s the spirt.” Stanley cheered.

“That was a f¥cking helicopter, buddy. I don’t think Roy is into cars.” Austin blurted.

“We could never tell, that guy has been getting on my nerve lately. He will also be at Chris party, we should put him in his place.” Michael said.

“We’ve gotten a lot of things all for that reason, but none of them ever knows their place. I’m strongly against it!” Austin blurted.

“Two against one!” Stanley teased, and they all looked at Steven.

“What’s your take, man?” Micheal asked.

“In or out?” Stanley asked, raising his hand to indicate in, then folded it as out and Steven didn’t hesitate to raise his hand.

“Gross… what was I even thinking? He will always follow majority.” Austin blurted angrily.

“And you are always against that majority.” Stanley teased.

“We gotta run, we are late for class.” Austin said, and they let out a heavy sigh.

“Gosh, man. I thought we are skipping today.” Stanley whined.

“I wish I could. But I need the attendance to save my head.” Austin said.

“I’ll take care of that.” Micheal assured.

“That old man is wiser now. He now request for footage from the principal. I barely managed to escape last week.”

“Gosh, what’s your punishment anyways to warrant these suffering?” Stanley whined.

“Special internship as his secretary.” He said, and Stanley gasped.

“That’s no punishment to me.” Micheal said, and Stanley cleared his throat.

“We are late for class.” Stanley said, and Austin laughed.

“I can’t believe this.” Austin grumbled.

“This is absolutely why school days should be reduced.” Stanley said, and Austin nodded in agreement.

“I strongly agree with you now.” Austin said.

“ Thanks to you, we will set a good example for the juniors behind.” Stanley teased .

“Gosh… do we really have to do this every week days? I thought we are here to relive stress!” Micheal exclaimed.

“I’ll set you up with a nice girl before Chris party.” Austin said, and Michael’s eyes brightened.

“What about me?” Stanley whined.

“You already have a baby.” Austin teased, and Micheal laughed.
*
They got to class, and the teacher paused to greet them before they went to their seats.

“We are really doing this.” Stanley grumbled.

“Shit! I can’t believe we are late.” Austin said, and they all glared at him.
*
After the class, everyone started talking about Lia’s party, and Austin got interested in it.

“Lia’s house party is always the best. She knows how to throw a party.” Austin said, and Stanley glared at him.

Michael ignored them, and found his way to their suite. They all trailed behind him with Stanley and Austin sending glares at each other.

“Hey, Steven, wait up.” They heard someone shout from behind, they all stooped on their track obviously stunned expect Steven who kept on walking, but he stopped when he noticed that the others stopped.

They all turned around at a time, and saw the new student.

“Steeeevennn…”. Austin said with widen eyes.

“Hi guys.” She waved, and they all looked at her.

“Who are you?” Austin blurted.

“I’m Paulina.” She said, and Micheal looked at her.

“Who cares if you are Paulina? What do you want?” Austin lashed, rolling his eyes.

“Steven dropped something the last time, I wanted to return it.” She said, a little scared.

“Where did you two meet for him to drop whatever?” Austin blurted.

“Steve, what did you dropped?” Stanley asked, and Steven shook his head.

“Wasn’t it yours? I thought you dropped a pendant.” Paulina said, and Steven glared at her.

Micheal looked from her to Steven, before letting out a shallow sigh.
“Let’s go guys.” He muttered, and Austin snubbed her before they left.

“Yooo, dude. Who does she think she is?” Austin blurted.

“Who the hell is she?” Stanley muttered.

“We should be asking you that.” Austin replied.

“Steve, are you sure you dropped nothing?” Michael asked, and Steven nodded.

“What are you saying? Our pumpkin is always on his own or rather with us, so when will he associate with her to drop something? And what? A pendant? Does he look like someone that carries a family relics around?” Austin teased, and wrapped his hand around Steven.

“I’m suddenly curious about her.” Micheal said and walked ahead of them while they all hurried to catch his pace.
*
They arrived at their suite, and the principal sent Paulina’s bio data to Michael.

“Just like the whole class, I can’t find anything on that Andrew.” Stanley said.

“She is on a special scholarship, the Stanford’s are the ones sponsoring her.” Michael said.

“What?” Austin and Stanley shouted.

“But who is she to get a special scholarship into the supreme class that many millionaires children couldn’t?” Stanley said.

“I guess that was why Ava hat€s her.” Austin said, and Stanley glared at him.

“Don’t mention that name.” Stanley whispered.

“What?” Austin whispered back and composed himself. “Something is off somewhere, I saw her chattering with Lia and her friends, it seems like they are plotting something for her.” Austin said.

“If that would get her out of our class then so be it. How could she be that fortunate?” Stanley said.

“The fun is gonna be at Lia’s party. Lia does know how to throw a party.” Austin said.

“What’s the point? We won’t be there.” Stanley said.

“Why does that bltch have to return? Thanks to her we will miss a memorable and exciting party. I heard that Prince and the clowns will be there.” Austin said.

“Why do they always interfere in our school party? He is worst than Roy.” Stanley blurted.

“Not being there will go down in history. This is the first Lia’s party that we will miss. She didn’t even specially invite us like usual.” Austin said.

“Thanks to that bltch, we will miss more exciting parties. Why does she even have to return?” Stanley grumbled.

“It’s getting too noisy.” Michael muttered, and they both glared at him.

He carried his laptop to work, and the others went to play video game.
*
When school dismissed, they all headed to the parking lot and saw Paulina entering Lia’s car.

“I can really smell something fishy.” Austin said.

“I hope they successfully put her in her place.” Stanley said.

“That party… we should be there.” Micheal said, and their face brighten.

“You don’t mean it.” Austin and Stanley chorused.

“Should I take it back?” Michael asked.

“No!” Stanley shouted.

“Never.” Austin muttered. “We should go prepare, it gonna be a long night.” Austin added, and Stanley cheered.

<<<YEARS AGO>>>
*
Paul was rushed to the hospital, and all the children sat by his bedside while Louis tried to console Charlotte who was crying.

“This is all my fault.” She cried.

“Come on, it’s not your fault.” Louis said.

“Blaming yourself won’t undo anything.” Grace said.

“If anyone is to be blamed, it’s Grace.” Louis said, and stood up.

“Hey, why me? I wasn’t the one he was going back go get” Grace fired.

“If you haven’t screamed, he wouldn’t have fall.” Louis shouted.

“Kids, that’s enough.” Mrs. Crocker (Louis’s mother) said joining them.

“Mum, is he going to be fine?” Louis asked.

“Yes, he will be fine. He didn’t break any bones, it’s just minor scratches. He is still asleep because of the medication. Charlotte, your driver is here.”

“You should go home and rest, I’ll keep you updated.” Louis said, and patted her hair gently.
*
Charlotte arrived home, and her nanny scanned the house before asking her to come in.

“Are you sure daddy is not in?” She asked.

“He is probably in his study. You should hurry to your room before he comes out.”

“Ok.” She whispered, and walked discreetly through the hallway heading to her.

She entered her room and managed to breathe properly before seeing the shock of her life – her father was just there, in her room after all.

“Da…daddd… daddyyy…”. She shuddered in fear.

Her father was never in approval of her friendship with the other kids, to him keeping friends means having a weakness, and it’s better having rivals than friends. She was lucky to be friends with the other kids after meeting Paul three years ago at her cousin’s birthday party. The celebrant might be her cousin, but she felt lost at the party same as Paul who merely attended because his father got the invitation from a business partner. They both left the party and had fun together, while chattering, they realized that they attend the same school, and he introduced her to the others the next day at school. Since then, she formed a bond with them, and they always hang out together against her parents wish – her parents were barely around anyways.
.
“Where are you coming from?” He asked, and she tried to control her raising heart.

“From… ermmm… from… the academic.”

“On Sunday?”

“Daddy, I hanged out with my friends.” She finally said, awaiting the worst.

“You are grounded till further notice.” He muttered, and her jaw dropped.

“Daddy.” She cried.

“Leave the young woman alone.” She heard her grandfather said, and she ran to embrace him.

“Father, don’t interfere to how I raise my child.”

“I’ll, because you are also my child. Go have fun, Cha Cha. Grandpa and dad will leave your room soon.”

“Yes, grandpa.” She shouted, and ran out.

“Father.”

“You should bear a grandson soon, girls only want to have fun.” He muttered.

“I’m going to raise Charlotte to be better than a male child, so don’t interfere again.”

“Leave the kid alone, she knows nothing. We’ve a bigger problem.”
*
Charlotte chat with Louis all night on the phone, and he kept her updated on Paul’s health. Thankfully, he was fine as Mrs. Crocker assured.

Things returned to normal after Paul was discharged. Although her grandfather saved her from getting punished, but that doesn’t mean her father would give up on pestering her. She was only able to meet her friends at school, and avoid hanging out with them after school since her father was still home.

Everything was seeming fine until Louis broke the news that he was leaving California. His family established a new hospital in Germany and his father is the director in charge.
*
All the kids met at the airport to bid farewell but Charolette couldn’t make it.

“Time to go champ.” His father said.

“Charolette isn’t here yet.” Louis muttered sadly.

“I don’t think she is coming, you should leave now Louis, your parents are waiting.” Paul said.

Louis looked around in disappointment, and nodded before embracing them again.

“I’m really going to miss you, Louis.” Grace cried.

“Come on, stop it. Unlike other girls you look ugly when you cry.” He teased.

“Really?” She asked, and he laughed which made her angry and she punched him. “This is really sad, it’s just Paul and I now.”

“Not just us, we also have Charlotte.” Paul said.

“She isn’t even here, and she barely hang out with us these days. She goes to the academy after school, and also has tutoring classes during recess. She barely even reply messages because she is always tried. How do you call that friendship?” Grace blurted.

“You shouldn’t say that, Grace. Charlotte doesn’t want that either.” Louis defended, and Grace rolled her eyes.

“Champ, we are running late.” His father said, and he looked around again before turning to leave.

The kids left as well, and Charlotte ran into the airport.

“Louis!” She shouted at the top of her voice watching his retreating back, and he ran back upon hearing her voice.

“Charlotte.” He called and they ran to embrace each other.

“Is this really good bye?” She cried.

“I knew you would come.” He muttered, and embraced her again.

“I’m really going to miss you, Louis.”

“I won’t miss you if this teary eyes is the last face I would remember.” He said, and helped her wipe her tears. “Be a good girl, Charlotte, always listen to your dad and don’t let him scold you. Hang out with the others when he is away, and also reply messages. I’ll miss you, my friend.” He said, and pecked her lips leaving her stunned. “I stole your first kiss, it’s my first as well. You can punch me when I return, my body will be all yours.” He said, and winked at her before leaving.

She touched her lips staring at his retreating back, and Paul who returned when he saw her car stood at a distance staring at them. Grace who didn’t miss the moment joined Paul and chuckled softly.

“Louis is really gone now.” She muttered, and he left without uttering a word.
