IN LOUIS’S HOUSE^^^

Ever since Charlotte recovered her memory from that accident, she has been thinking of what she can do, and wondering who could set up that. She refuse to believe that Grace could pull that up. Grace could disgust her, but she doubt if she could actually waht her d£ad, and she even took Paulina with her, which shouldn’t have happened if she wanted her gone. She couldn’t share her thoughts with Louis, because he has been busier with work these days, he seems to have a lot of patients, and he is always rushing to the hospital upon emergency calls so she didn’t want to bother him.
After giving it all a thought, she made up her to mind to go her father. If he was going to bring the Packard’s down without playing dirty, then she should go to him and ensure he isn’t playing dirty. She also realized that being with him will also make it easier to set things right, so she can be with her daughter again.
She packed few things in a bag, and waited for Louis who arrived home after midnight.
“Louis, welcome,” she said, and collected his bag.
“Why are you still up? I would be disappointed if you were waiting for you,” he muttered, and she pouted her lips cutely.
“What do I do? I guess I already disappointed you,” she whined, and he chuckled.
“If you act this way, I can’t even scold you,” he stated, and she muttered. “It’s past midnight, you should have gone to bed,”
“You came back this late,”
“Yeah… I know,”
“You’ve been returning late these days. Do you have too many patients? Or is your patient’s case that serious?”
“I only attend to VIP patients, and my recent patient is a handful. He is a congressman. That aside, he doesn’t allow other doctors attend to him, and the director is willing to do everything to please him. He got his surgery last week, and he is better now. Hopefully, he would be discharged soon,”
“You must’ve been really exhausted,”
“A cup of coffee,” he muttered, and sat freely on the couch.
“I’ll be right back,” she said, and hurried to the kitchen.
She returned with the coffee, and met him already asleep on the couch.
“He must have been really tired,” she muttered, and wipe off sweats from his face.
She put the coffee away and went to get blanket to cover him up.
“I shouldn’t be bothering you with my problems, your job is hard enough. I’m sorry, Louis,” she muttered, and kissed his forehead.
“Madam, you are still up,” she heard Ms. Bella said. “Is professor back?”
“Shhh… he is asleep,”
“Oh, he must’ve be really tired. I haven’t seen him this tired since he moved back here. Traveling tho and fro everyday must have been hard for him, and now his job is taking over. Saving people’s life must be a tough job,” with that she left.
Charlotte stared blankly at her retreating back, and looked at Louis before going to her room.
“Helping me must have really stressed him out. More reasons why I should leave,” she thought, and laid flat on her bed.

IN AN UNKNOWN PLACE, SOMEWHERE AT A HOSPITAL ^^^

Don opened his eyes when he felt Leo’s hand moved, and Leo sat up immediately.
“You, who sent you?” Leo muttered, grabbing Don’s collar.
“Even if I wanna harm you, you are too weak to fight back now, so save your strength,” Don remarked, and jabbed his hand off.
“You aren’t one of them. You are the one who saved me, who are you? Who sent you? No, I think I’ve seen you before. You are the man from that day. Are you from Grace’s opponent?”
“You’ve a good memory. At least you know I rescued you,”
“You must’ve been strong for the both of us to them over those men alone. You didn’t even get a scratch “
“Nah… I nursed it. I can’t risk having more than that,”
“Thank you for saving me, but you won’t get any hung from me,”
“That’s not the street rule, man. I saved you, you owe me one,”
“I don’t hwge anything on her. I’m useless to you,”
“Wow. So Mr. Packard sent those end to escort a useless man to afterlife, that’s a waste of resources if you would ask me,”
“You… you aren’t from the opponent party, who are you?”
“Me, I’m someone who can only live if you are alive. Simply saying we both owe each other our lives. That’s who I am,”
“What nonsense…” Leo grumbled.
Don phone rang later, and he picked it up immediately.
📞*ok,” he muttered, and dropped the call.
“We have to leave this place,” he said, and Leo looked at him.
“What?”
“Mr. Packard is on a search for you, I can’t explain everything now… but if you care about your life we have to leave now,”
“And why should I listen to you?”
“Because I was the one who saved you. We both have to live, b@stard, so listen to me!” Don shouted, pulling him by the collar.
They left the ward and told the nurse that they want to take a walk, and flee from there.
“I have a destination,” Leo muttered.
“You’re returning to shark lord?”
“Did you run a check on me?”
“That’s a no go area. Mr. Packard sent one of his men to shark lord residence, they are also on a search for you,”
“Thats not possible,”
“Why do you think so? Because he helped you out of jail, you think he wouldn’t dumb you to curry favor from a powerful politician?” Don blurted, and Leo grabbed his clothes.
“Let it! Else… we might both dle. I need to focus to drive,”
“Why should I believe you?”
“How many times will I tell you that it’s because I saved you, you owe me your life and you have to live so I can live as well!” Don snapped.
“Drop me in the nearest bus station,”
“If you are going to shark lord, I’ll take you there myself,”

Grace was preparing to leave the house when she heard the door clicked open, and Paul walked in.
“Paul, you slept out last night,”
“Yes. I have business in New York, so I slept over. What’s that article?”
“What article ? Hundred of articles are released everyday concerning my election. Even though I know I’m going to win, all those articles made it seem certain,”
“Don’t act dumb! That article about you being involved in an accident with a strange man, and sending him to prison without trial,”
“I already addressed that issue with dad, didn’t you watch the press conference? Oh… you must’ve been busy and missed it. The police will investigate whoever released the false information, so don’t worry about a thing. Its obviously from my opponent,”
“Grace, if that’s just an excuse you made to the public, you better be honest with me now. Did you really got involved in that accident or not?”
“Paul… can’t you at least believe me?”
“I can’t, and you are aware of that,”
“Paul, for crying out loud? We were friends for over two decades before we get married, can’t you at least believe me for the sake of our friendship?”
“You’ve changed, Grace. You changed a long time ago. And even now, you are still lying to me,”
“If yiu don’t believe me, then go find prove that I lied. I had enough explaining!”
“You’re right, I should always find proof before confronting you because I’ll never hear the truth from you. But, if you still considered the friendship we once shared, answer me honestly. Do you know that guy? The one in the article,”
“NO! And that’s all you will hear from me,” with that, she intend to leave.
“Then explain this,” he said, showing her his tab—in it, there was a picture of she and Leo together.
She gasped, and her hands started trembling in fear.
“How… hooowwe….” She shuddered, short of words.
“If you really didn’t know him as you claimed, if that article was false, then why did you meet him?”
“Where did you get this?”
“Is that the answer?”
“Answer me!” She shouted grabbing his shoulder. “You’ve to tell me how you got this. Did you have someone tail me? Please answer me,”
“Why would I have anyone tail you?” He snapped, freeing himself from her.
“Then how… who sent this to you? Are they trying to blackmail you?”
“I got this pictures this morning from an anonymous person, with a message that I would be shocked if I find out what you are hiding from me. The sender seems to know a lot about some dirty things you might jags been involved in. He said he is going to review them gradually, and I should be ready,”
“No, no. It’s Leo. No, no, dad has to hear this,” she grumbled, and her hands trembling as she was trying to dial a number.
Paul exhaled heavily, and collected the phone from her.
“Give it back, I have to call dad,” she said in fear.
“What are you so scared of to be this way? Who is this Leo guy and what does he have on you? Is it about the election? Goodness, Grace, are you going to be like this because of the election?”
“It’s not about the election!” She yelled, startling him.
“Then what? What’s making you this scared?”
“You don’t know anything, Paul, and you don’t need to know,” with that she collected her phone from him and left.

SOMEWHERE AROUND SHARK LORD RESIDENCE ^^^

Don has been in his car since morning after dropping Leo off. He couldn’t leave the residence from fear of what could happen to Leo, neither does he have the courage of going in. Shark lord is a fearsome mafia boss, and he doesn’t dare to wander around his vicinity.
He stayed out in his car hoping that Leo would run out for him to save him if anything goes wrong. He can’t afford to miss Leo, because Mr. Ethan might really take his live if he does.
He waited in the car till it was late at night, when he saw someone fly out from the fence, he focused well, and confirmed its Leo, and he was being chased by men.
“Gotcha!” Don cheered, and drove closer to him. “Get in, now! We don’t have time!” He said, and Leo hurried in, then Don speed off.
“It’s you again,” Leo said, panting heavily.
“I told you didn’t I? You will have to live for me to live,”
“You were right, I think he boss plotted against me,”
“He doesn’t have to plot against his underlinings, he simply wanted to get rid of you!”
“Who are you working for? And where are you taking me?”
“You owe me again, buddy. So since I saved you twice, you’ve to listen to me,” Don said, and the rest of the ride was in silence.

They arrived at the safe house, and Mr. Ethan welcomed them.
“Wow. You recall saved your a$$, Don,” Mr. Ethan teased.
“Thank you, boss,”
“I don’t think I know you, sir,” Leo managed to mutter.
“You wili know me soon enough. But I know a lot about you. Your daughter, and my granddaughter, attend the same school,” he said, and Leo eyes widened in shock.
“Who are you?”
“Someone whose granddaughter attends the same school as your daughter. Let’s put it that way,”
“I don’t know the daughter you’re talking about,”
“Oh… I know. But, I doubt,”
“Sir, I don’t know why I am here, but you will get nothing from me,”
“You’re one stubborn one. For someone who my man saved his life, you’re a really hard one,”
“Just let me go, sir,”
“Where do you want to go? To threaten the Packard’s who are out ti get rid of you? Or back to your boss who abandoned you,”
“I…”
“Don’t worry, your mother is in good hands,”
“What? My mother? What did you do to her?”
“I said she is in good hands. Don’t you trust me? Do you want to have a word with her?”
Leo spoke with his mother on the phone, and she talked about the free ticket she won to New York, before they ended the call.
“Your mother would be in New York enjoying her free trip just until the election is over,”
“I’m willing to do everything sir, as long as my mother is safe,”
“That’s also what you told that Packard years ago before you were sent to prison, and you didn’t even tried to defend yourself,”
“How long have you been tailing me?”
“Just recently. I just guess that,” he said, and laughed. “Come on, you just vowed to me, can’t you even laugh to a joke?”
“What do you want from me,”
“Goodness. You are one hard one, but I love the energy
“I’m someone who hates the Packard’s, and I want to bring them down. Every single one of them! So first, let’s stir it up by proving the little one true blood,”
“No, don’t. Not that!” Leo blurted
“What do you mean?”
“I’m going to help you get the Packard’s. I have some things on them, and I’ll help you gather more. But not that, not that,”
“But that’s the sharpest tool to bring them down now, with that the election will be automatically decided, and he will be busy trying to save the election, while I strike him from behind,”
“There are other ways to get them, sir. Mr. Packard is involved in so many fugitive activities, embezzlement is f donations funds, and he also has countless of illegal dealings. He recently helped a criminal escape prison to help him get rid of someone. Stuffs like that, he does that a lot. I can help you get them all, but that not that,”
“Good! Revealing that won’t send that b@stard to prison anyways, so let’s go for what you have. If he goes to prison, then his daughter election is automatically down. It’s still a win-win. But, we’ve to make an agreement,”
“What’s it’s, sir?”
“If you fail to get the Packard’s for me before the election is over, I’ll reveal their dirty secret, and you will have to cooperate and work my way “
“Yes, boss,” he assured, and Mr. Ethan chuckled, before patting his shoulder. He looked at Don who bowed slightly, and nodded.
“Don’t worry Charlotte, very soon, just very soon, I’ll make them feel the same pain, in threefold!” He thought, smiling brightly.

Leo excused himself to use the restroom, and Don looked at Mr. Ethan.
“Split it,” Mr. Ethan blurted.
“Boss, do you trust him?”
“I don’t even trust me,” he muttered, and Don bowed his head. “I stopped trusting my subordinates, I guess this is what they call beaten one,”
“Boss, so are you really going to do it his way?”
“If don’t have to leave everything to hold. We can also come up with our own way,”
“What’s your plan, boss?”
“I already sent Kai to the Packard’s,”
“What? Sir, but Kai is incompetent,”
“That’s an overestimate,”
“Why did you sent him there? If you need an undercover, you should have sent someone more competent,”
“That’s why I sent him there. He is incompetent, but u choose him because he will do anything to prove himself, and if he fails, he will dle by the Packard’s hands,”
“Hmmm…”
“I’m putting everything on a tiny rope, son. And if it cut, I’m not going down alone this time, I’ll drag everyone of you along,”
“We will all work hard, boss,”
“You should,”
“Isn’t he staying too long there?” Don said, referring to Leo.
“He is trying to find out who I’m. I’m sure he has turned down the internet trying to figure out who I am. Let’s hope he doesn’t run off from there,” Mr. Ethan muttered, and chuckled.

Leo returned later, and she begin to carry out thier plans.
“The chief prosecutor always helped him cover up all his crimes, he has been dirty since he was a politician,” Leo said.
“Obviously,” Mr. Ethan remarked.
“But the chief Prosecutor retried last year, and there is another capable prosecutor has been on the Packard’s,”
“Who?”
“Prosecutor Dennis,”
“How do you know about this?”
“He is my uncle,” he said, and they all looked at him. “No, no, no. It’s not the way you imagined it.
“Your uncle?”
“Yes, he has been curious about the Packard’s since he sent me to prison years ago. So he transferred to the center district two years ago,”
“Wow!”
“It’s not what you think, he is here to get revenge or anything. My uncle actually dislikes me, and he didn’t even try to help me out of jail,”
“So why is he on the Packard’s?”
“He is also a corrupt prosecutor. He wants to have the Packard so he can curry favor from them,”
“Wow. This is going to be more difficult than I think,”
“There should be a way to get our hands on him,” Don said.
“What’s his weakness? Any family member?” Mr. Ethan asked.
“He divorced few years ago, and his wife went abroad with their children. She already remarried, but my uncle is the one funding for the kids,”
“So he has no relative here expect you?”
“None, expect my mum and I,” he muttered.
“Then it’s settle! A man with no weakness, now reputation will be his only concern. Let’s pay him a visit,”
“What?” Don and Leo chorused.
“Now?” Don asked with widened eyes.
“Yes, let’s go,” Mr. Ethan muttered, and took his jacket exiting the room.
