Paulina has been confined in her room since the incidence, she has always been scared to leave the room, and haven’t been going to school. The MASS were worried all worried about her, and have been checking up on her constantly on the phone. Micheal kept in touch everyday, and they mostly take hours on the phone. To her upmost surprise, Sage sent her a message as well, and she couldn’t think of the right response. She cant tell him about the incident, and couldn’t come up with an excuse either, so she ignored his message instead. Sophia also sent her countless messages which she ignored, she pretended to angry at them, even though she was actually mad at Sophia.
She decide to keep herself busy, and started reading articles online about the Floods’, the family were a great family until they faced demise when their secret was revealed. The thought of the ragged-man being her grandfathers, and her mother suffering that much she had to take care of her alone made her wonder if those were all rewards for thier crimes.
She put away her laptop, and laid flat on her bed, that has been her routine since the accident. The police stopped thier investigation regarding lord shark gang after they saw the pendant at various marketplace, and teenagers also own one. They assumed that the pendant was an ordinal pendant, so the driver who already fled became thier major suspect.
She took her phone later when a message beeped in, but a knock on the door distracted her, and the followed the maid to meet her father, there he introduced her to Don, and she felt comfortable with him the moment she saw him, because he looked so familiar—he appeared with her grandfather in some of the articles, seeing him clarified that she couldn’t be mistaken. The tattoo on his neck was visible in the pictures, and he didn’t try to hide it either.
“It was him, the man in the picture with my grandfather,” she thought, and found herself addressing him as “uncle” and when he shared t he story about the lady who was like a sister to him, she instantly assumed that he must be referring to her mother.
Having him around made her feel reassured that she would be safe, and the instantly had the confidence to return to school.
*
She got ready for school the following day, and got ready for school.
“Miss Paulina, are you finally returning to school?” Naomi, the maid who mostly attend to her say, and she chuckled.
“Of course, I should. I have been slacking behind on classes, and the mid semester exam starts next week,” she said, and Naomi gasped.
“Wow. That’s so soon. Wiki you be fine, tho?”
“I should. Dad assured me that my grades don’t matter, that’s my bail,” she said, and they both chuckled.
She left the room, descending the stairs, when she saw Ava also ready for school.
“Wow, look who’s finally returning to school,” Ava teased, but she ignored her and continued on her way.
They both got to the parking lot, and Ava’s driver helped her with her bag.
“What will you do now, poor Lina, at least in my case, my driver is trustworthy,” Ava mocked.
“I’ve really been trying to avoid picking up fights with you. Isn’t it too early to start a cat fight?” Paulina lashed, and Ava glared at her.
“What did you say?”
“At least in my case, my ears are working properly!” Paulina sneered, and Ava inter to hit her, but Don was quick to help her hand.
“Let go of me! Who are you?” Ava shouted.
“My bodyguard! So be warned,”
“Bodyguard?” Ava laughed. “Who do you tnunk you are to get a bodyguard? Because you almost got kidnapped, does that made you feel like an elite?”
“Why? Does reality hurt. I might be an illegitimate, but it didn’t change the fact that I’m an elite, sister,”
“Who the heck is your sister?”
“Get a life, I’m late for class!” Having said that, she went to the car.
“That little…” Ava shuddered, and Don smiled before leaving. “Hey! Who do you think you are?” Ava shouted.
Don scared her with the car before driving off, and Paulina laughed at the sllly attempt.

HOLLAND HIGH^^^
^
Mifheal waited for Paulina at the parking lot after she informed him that about her decision to resume back to school. He has been really worried about her, wondering when she would get the courage to return back to school.
She alighted from one of the cars that drove in, and he rushed to her.
“Who dropped you off?” He asked.
“My bodyguard,”
“What bodyguard?”
“I told you about him on the phone yesterday. Da-… the chairman hired him for me,”
“Exactly my point, he also hired that driver,”
“Uncle Don is different,”
“Unveil what? Come on, who addresses a bodyguard that way?”
“Me! I address my bodyguard however I want!”
“We will argue on that later,” he said, and walked closer to the car, knocking on the window. “Excuse me… Mr. Bodyguard, can I’ve a word?”
“What are you doing?” Paulina scolded.
“Boyfriend’s duty!” He blurted, and she scoffed.
Don alighted from the car, and Micheal scoffed, glaring at him.
“Is he the bodyguard?”
“Mike, don’t be rude,”
“Good day to you, I’m Don, Miss Paulina’s bodyguard!” Don said, staring immensely at him.
“And I’m Paulina’s boyfriend, Michael Russ. You must’ve heard about the Russ,”
“I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in other people,”
“More reasons why you don’t qualify to be a bodyguard. Well… I won’t beat around the bush, so tell me the qualities you have as a bodyguard! Are you an ex military man? A police? A boys scout? Or what criteria do you belong?”
“I’m afraid that I don’t belong to any of those criteria,”
“Mike, that’s enough!” Paulina shouted, and grabbed his hand, dragging him away.
“Let me go!” He shouted.
“What do you think you are doing? Do you want to fire him? He is just a bodyguard, and he is trusted!”
“How sure are you? I’m not even comfortable with the way you address him. Uncle Don? Uncle my foot!” He blurted, rolling his eyes.
“So, what do you plan to do?”
“Hire someone capable for you,”
“Come on, I’m not your liability,”
“You’re my girlfriend, so it’s my duty to protect you. When you were abutted, do you know how worried I was?”
“Hi, Lina,” they heard someone say from behind, and they both turned to see its Sage.
“What?” She blurted, and looked away.
“I’m glad to see you are back. Have you been good?”
“I’m fine!”
“Come here, girl!” Sophia approached her, and dragged her away. “I’m sorry, Mike, but I’ve to talk to my girlfriend!” She shouted, as she dragged Paulina away.
Michael glared at sage who didn’t stop looking at him, and he chuckled before leaving.
“What’s that about?” Micheal grumbled, and scoffed before leaving. “Just like that, she dragged Lina away,” he muttered, heading to his suite.
**
Paulina freed herself from Sophia’s grip when they got to the rooftop, and placed her hands akimbo.
“Hey! Are you angry at me?”
“No, I’m not! Can I leave now?”
“Why are you being this way? You ignored my messages, and calls. Are you cutting ties with me as well?”
“As well? What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You stopped interacting with Sage after you rejected him, and I was merely there to help him adjust. But here you are, angry at me!”
“I didn’t stop interacting with Sage… he avoided me first,”
“Did you make any attempts when he avoided you?”
“How could I… he was always the one making advances…”
“What did you do when he stopped? You were the one who rejected him, Lina, you are the one who supposed to keep our friendship. You’ve no reasons to be mad at us, because you were the one wrong. I admit, I also made mistakes, I shouldn’t have paid all attention to Sage. But can I do? You were always with the MASS!”
“But there were times when I needed someone to talk to as well. None of them understand me as much as you do. You, you and Sage, you were my very first friends, and I valued our friendship. I didn’t want to throw it away, but you both ignored me. I thought, you needed time to help Sage heal, but you never returned to me,” she muttered, in a sober tone.
“Then why didn’t you confront me?!” Sophia shouted.
“Why would I? I was so mad at you,”
“Oh… poor little Lina. I have missed you so much,” Sophia said, and embraced her.
“You don’t know how much I missed you,” Paulina cried, tightening the hug.
“Are you girls done?” Sage asked, approaching them.
“Sage…” Paulina muttered, sniffing in.
“Can I also have a hug?” He asked, spreading his arms, and she walked into his embrace.
“I’m sorry for everything, Sage,”
“I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have avoided you that way. I didn’t know that you were hurting,”
“Sage…” she cried, tightening the hug — embracing him again, made her realize how much she have missed him, how much she has missed her friends.
“So, guys. If you are both sorry, then let’s hang out together later after school. No excuses, don’t think about the coming exams either. Let’s have fun like old time,” Sophia said, and they both smiled in approval.
“Yes, like old time,” Paulina muttered, and her phone started ringing.
She checked the caller’s ID and saw it’s Micheal, and she instantly kept the phone back.
“Guys, I have to be in class now,” she said, and hurried away.
“That must be Mike calling,” Sophia said, and Sage chucked.
“We’re also running late for class,” Sage said, and she gasped.
“You’re right!” With that, she ran off.

MR. PACKARD’S MANSION^^^
^
Mr. Packard chuckled after checking the range of the coming election. Grace range dropped after the last article concerning she and Leo.
“It dropped really well, and I those thugs failed on their assignment as well. The election is behind the corners, this is so not good,” he thought, and looked at Mr. Ken. “What did that nonsensical lord shark said concerning thier failed assignment?”
“Nothing. They apologized for the inconvenience, and decided to lay low for now,”
“Lay low? When the election is fast approaching? This is the second assignment they will fail. They failed to get rid of Leo and allow him collide with the Floods, and now they still failed in getting the girl who would’ve been the best target to get the Floods to be quiet, at least till the election is over. Have you found that sneaky Flood ?”
“No, sir. The search for him proves abortive,”
“He seems to be hiding pretty well…”
“Sir, but there is news,”
“About?”
“It’s Don,”
“Who’s Don?” He asked, and went deep in thought. “Oh… that young boy. What’s up with him?”
“He is now the girl bodyguard,”
“What? Who hired him?”
“The chairman,”
“What is Paul thinking?”
“All the Floods have returned, sir. The girl’s mother is also in the city, and the chairman is aware of it,”
“What the… does this mean that Paul is working with the Floods?”
“It’s likely, sir,”
“I ask them to get the girl so I can threaten the Floods, a granddaughter for a granddaughter, but that nonsensical lord or whatever he called himself ruined it all, and now he wants to lay low? After failing twice, he wants to lay low? Tell him I want to meet him. He might be a mafia boss, but I still pull the shots!”
“He refuse, sir. He seems adamant about his decision to lay low,”
“Nonsense! I should have get it done myself, I shouldn’t have trusted that thug that called himself a lord,”
“Sir, what do we do about the chairman working with the Floods?”
“I doubt it. Paul can’t possibly work with the Floods, Grace would have figured it out somehow. Don being there is merely a coincidence. But I want you to keep an eye on him, we shouldn’t be too relaxed,”
“Yes, sir,”
“Why aren’t you publishing the article about my granddaughter? Do you want to pend it till… probably the election?” He thought, and his eyes widened. “The election, yes. The election. They might be planning to attack when I can’t evade it. I want you to bring me that prosecutor, there must be a way to catch that sneaky Flood before things get too messy,”
“Sir, about the article. Ms. Grace is still confused on how to go about it,”
“That girl can never get anything done on her own, I was just away for barely a day, and her range dropped already. I should have known netter,” he grumbled, ticking his tongue in frustration.

AT A RESTAURANT^^^
^
Leo sat across Mr. Ethan, slipped from his glass of wine.
“Boss, you summoned me,”
“Let’s end it, Leo,”
“Sir?”
“Your method isn’t working, apparently, we can’t work together. Don is already glued to my granddaughter, so there is no one to run errands for me again,”
“Boss, I’ll gladly follow your orders,”
“I don’t need you,” Mr. Ethan blurted, and Leo looked at him. “You owe me your life, so take care of yourself in return. And you’ll watch the Packard’s go down from afar,”
“Boss, I can only serve you!”
“No! We can’t work together because I want to expose that ba$tard in the family, and you don’t want that,”
“Boss… there is still another way,”
“There is no other way. I have to ruin that election, that’s the best way to start destroying the Packard’s. Once the election fall through, that will be the beginning of thier downfall. From now on, we will only do this my way!”
“Boss…”
“Don’t you want your daughter back? This is your chance!”
“I promise to protect her,” he muttered.
“I’m not interested,”
“There is someone you have to meet, boss,”
“I don’t want to,” he muttered, and the prosecutor walked in. “You again!” Mr. Ethan snapped.
“I’ve been thinking of the best way to use this and protect my family, and I ended up returning back to you,” Mr. Denis (the prosecutor) said.
“What are you scheming this time?”
“This!” He muttered, and played a recording for him —the recording of Mr. Packard threat in the interrogating room.
“What would I do with this?” Mr. Ethan blurted.
“Nothing! You can’t do anything with it, and I can’t get a warrant to lock up Mr. Packard either. So we can use this to get a warrant,”
“What do you mean? And why should I trust you?”
“I was also going to cut ties with all thugs, and I have been thinking of the right way to use this, but here in again. Let’s spread this online!” Mr. Swims said, and Mr. Ethan looked at him.
“Online?”
“Mr. Packard threatened my family, so if this is online, he Wong be able to harm them again, and I’ll be able to get a warrant to lock him up for good. I still have all the evidence I have, so you can also give me everything you’ve against him,”
“I can’t trust you, Mr. Prosecutor. You might be a spy,”
“Spy? That’s very lame,”
“Keep walking, I don’t trust you. If you wanted to give that to the media, you can simply do it yourself. We don’t have to work together, I’m not planning to work with you,”
“Just as you want to protect your daughter, I also want to protect mine. That’s why I need your help, I want you to protect my daughters,” he said, and Mr. Ethan calmed down a little.
Mr. Ethan’s phone rang later, he checked the caller’s ID to see it’s Don.
📞*Don*
📲*Boss, Stone sent video proof of Mr. Packard eliminating a reporter, but his life might be in danger*
📞*Secure the proof he sent, remember, it cost him his life to send that to you*
📲*Yes, boss* upon hearing that, Mr. Ethan dropped the call and chuckled.
.
“Mr. Prosecutor, do you say you can get the warrant by selling that to the media?”
“Yes, sir. If you would give me a second chance, let’s work together again,”
“Let’s do that,” he muttered, muttered following by an evil grin.

GRACE’S CAMPAIGN SITE^^^
^
Grace was on the phone with someone when her campaign manager ran to her.
“What’s it?” She snapped immediately she dropped the call.
“Mayor, you’ve to see this,” he muttered, and showed her a post of her father’s recording.
“What? What’s that?” She trembled, reading the caption.
*Corrupt government, corrupt system. Threats in the interrogation room. The true face of the mayor you want to vote for*
“Mayor, this is not good for us?”
“Why are they directing this to me? This is dad not me!” She lashed, and dialed her father’s number immediately.
📞*Dad…*
📞*What? He was arrested again?* she shouted, and the phone fell off her hand.
