Ava had to call Paul to pick her up from school after everything that happened. She couldn’t bring herself to go to class, and when she went to her suite, her friends already changed the passcode, returning home and never stepping foot there again was her only escape because she can’t possibly call Lia or Alicia for the passcode when they obviously sent her out to humiliate her.

Paulina finished her exam for the day, and carried her bag to leave the class but Michael dragged her back.

“What?” she grumbled.

“How was your the papers?”

“Fine,”

“Are you mad at me? You were the one who asked me to get involved,” he said, and she looked at him.

“How do you know I was upset over that?”

“Because that could only be the reason,”

“Everyone was saying stuffs after you left. They said you still be feelings m for her, they said it was obvious in the way to look at her, they said because you are still engaged to her, they said all sort of things that I regret asking you that, I wa-…” she was saying, and he embraced her.

“We both know that’s not true. They know nothing. My feelings for Ava dled the moment she called me a piece of trash, and I will cut off our engagement too. Don’t listen to them, Lina. I’ll only listen to you and do what pleases you because you are my girl,” he said, and she smiled.

She released from the embrace later and hit his chest.

“Argh… that hurt. Is that what I get for being romantic?”

“I only asked you to get involved, I didn’t ask you to hold her hand that way. You made it seem like thier assumptions were real,” she whined, and he smiled.

He hold her hand and intertwined thier fingers together.

“I didn’t hold her this way, you are the only one I hold this way,” he said, leading her out. “Where are you going? To the library?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t do well in today’s exam,”

“That’s bad. The exam was quite difficult,”

“How can you tell? I doubt if you even read the questions. You were one of the first to submit “

“Austin was the first. I just have to leave too, the class was stuffy. The atmosphere was too tensed, it’s not just my thing,”

“Do you even do well in exams?”

“I am better than Austin,”

“What’s your GPA?”

“Hey! Why are you asking that? Life is not about GPA. If you worry about GPA, you will never enjoy the bliss of high school,”

“I see… I shouldn’t be having this conversation with you. Go away,” she said, and hit him away.

“I can’t wait for this exam to be over so we can have a proper date,”

“You only worry about going on dates,”

“I have more than enough worries but I refuse to let it get the better off me. I have really missed you,”

“We will go on many dates as we please… but after the exam, I got to run,”

“Where to?”

“To those who worry about exam,” she winked, and run off.

“Hey!” He shouted. “Did I just got ditched again?” He grumbled.
**
Alicia waited for all thier other classmate to leave the class before she went to Lia.

“Lia, why did you do it?”

“Did what?” Lia grumbled, looking away.

“I only told you, why did you post it on the website?”

“Chill, girl. You didn’t tell me, you just gave me that hint. And I assumed that he could only be that mysterious bodyguard that was in the scandal with her mother. Gosh, why are you getting so worked up? Ava could do the same to us,”

“And you could do the same to me as well! Is this what friendship is to you?”

“Get your tact together, Alicia. Ava was never our friend! She stopped behind friends with us after she left years ago, she returned and didn’t even spare us a glance. We literally forced the whole friendship thing, while she see us as her minors. We even kicked Rae out because of her!”

“You kicked Rae out!”

“Yeah, I did. I kicked Rae out because I missed that suite, but turns out Ava doesn’t deserve it. She is not a queen, she is nothing but a ba$tard that should be put in her place,”

“She could still kick us out of her suite,”

“I already changed the passcode, she can’t access it anymore. It’s already ours, girl. She is nothing but a loser that shouldn’t step foot here again

“Now that Ava is officially out, and the suite is ours now. What do we do? It’s going to be boring with just the two of us,”

“Who said we are two? We were always three from the start before that ba$tard returned,”

“Rae! No, I protest. Rae is doing just fine without us, she doesn’t want to be friends with us anymore,”

“But I still want to be friends with her. I really missed her,”

“Me too. But I doubt if she missed us at all. She didn’t even spare us a glance at Roy’s party,”

“You’re right,”

“We should still give it a shot. Let’s go,”
**
Paulina joined Sage who was waiting for her at the parking lot.

“Let’s go, Sophie said she can’t make it. I don’t understand her, I decide for us to study together for the English exam tomorrow but she said she has prior arrangements. Let’s go,” she said

“Lina, I was the jerk,”

“Hun?”

“The jerk Sophie like was me,”

“She told you?”

“You knew?”

“Did you reject her?”

“Lina, Sophie is my friend, I can’t hurt her,”

“But she is already hurting “

“Have you forgotten that you also rejected me ?” He asked, and she bowed her head. “I need to get over that before o can ever be attracted to anyone again, and I can’t use Sophie to get over my heartbreak, I can’t hurt her because I know her feelings are genuine,”

“I’m sorry, Sage, I know I’m not in the position to comfort you. Let’s skip studying together since Sophie isn’t here,” she said, and he nodded.

“Good luck,” he muttered, and she alighted from his car.
**
Stanley wait behind for Jessica to finish up at school before going to her.

“You must be busy with your school president’s duties,”

“YoI can say that again,”

“You are busy and the exam is also overwhelming, so why do you want us to go on a date amidst all?”

“The most stressful exam is over. Math is always the problem. I need to clear my head now,”

“Was it hard?”

“I’m sure it was a piece of cake to you,”

“Jessica….”

“Don’t feel bad, I told you not to lose a point to me because I like you that way. I’ll work harder, and challenge you one day. You might beat me in math, but I’m better at the other subjects,”

“You’re really intelligent,”

“Jessica, you are something else,” a boy said approaching them.

“Pardon?” she blurted.

“Max, did Jessica did something wrong to you?” Stanley asked.

“Rejecting me to date you is not right either. After rejecting almost all the guys, you end up dating someone with a messed up family! Gosh, I really adore your taste,” he blurted, and Stanley wanted to hit him, but Jessica held him back.

“You can try again when your family is ruined, then I might reconsider!” She lashed. “Let’s go, babe,” with that, she dragged Stanley away.

“I’m sorry about that,” Stanley muttered when they entered the elevator.

“He was caught cheating during the exam, and needed someone to lash on. Don’t let him get to you. Your family might be a mess, but your brain isn’t,” she said, and he chuckled.
*
They went to get matching clothes for a change, and spent all day together having fun until night falls, and he drove her home.
*
She went in, and was surprised to see her father by the main door entrance.

“Dad, you startled me!”

“I was on my way out. Are you just getting back?”

“Yes,”

“From a party?”

“No, I just hang out with my friend,”

“Fiend? Jake?”

“Dad, I have many other friends,”

“Yeah, that remind me. You even have a new friend as well,”

“What friend?”

“That boy you are always complaining about. That math competitor…”

Oh, Stanley?”

“Yeah, how could I forget his name when you are always worked up because of him. I even have to get that professor for you,”

“Oh… yeah, we are friends now. How did you know?”

“I saw him at the parking lot with you the other day,“

“Oh… yeah,”

“I see… his family is a mess. Are you aware of that?”

“Dad, how is that my concern. I thought you have plans, you should leave. I need to rest,”

“End your friendship!”

“Dad? Why are you interfering in my friendship?”

“Because whoever you are friends with also have an impact in your life,”

“We’ve been friends even before his parents divorce, how can you ask me to cut ties with him now?”

“When did you start to disobey me?”

“Because it’s not right. It’s not his fault that his family fell apart. We are just friends, so why make a fuss?”

“Because yiu aren’t just friends!” He shouted.

“Dad…”

“You were on a date with him, he was that peasant you tried to defend, so end it now. Whatever it is, either friendship or relationship,” having said that, he left and she ran to her room.
*
She arrived at school the following day, and Stanley went to meet her at the parking lot.

“You must be studying all night to ignore my messages, I understand,”

“Stan… all my life I always listen to my father, I follow all his instructions because I believed he knows what’s best for me, but now I feel it’s unfair. How can I think someone understands me better than I do?”

“Because he wants us to breakup?”

“Stan, how did you know?”

“That could only be the reason. It’s understandable, even as a friend, I don’t stand a chance with you. My family is a mess, and you are Jessica Lockwood,”

“Stan…”

“We agreed to break up if you father ask us to, so let’s break up. I don’t want you to disobey your father because of me,”

“What? You are breaking us up again!”

“I’m sorry,” with that, he left, leaving her dumbfounded.
*
He joined his friends in thier suite, and didn’t exchange greetings before going to sit down.

“Hey! Are you ok?” Austin asked.

“Jessica and I broke up,”

“Again?” They all shouted.

“Why? What happened? I thought you two are good. You even went on a date yesterday. Did you made a mistake?” Austij asked, and he inhaled deeply.

“Her father came to me yesterday,”

“What?” They all shouted.

“I’m beginning to sweat,” Austin grumbled.

“He suddenly showed up by the doorway, and asked me to breakup with his daughter. That was it, he left, and I ended it,”

“Just like that?” Michael asked.

“Man, you gave in like that?” Austin asked, and he nodded.

“I really suck, I know. I might be good with solving math problems, but I sucks at real problems so I decide to avoid it. I’m leaving anyways, I shouldn’t cause troubles for Jessica before leaving, that’s the least I can do. She has always respected her father, and followed his instructions, she thought he understands her better, so I shouldn’t make things complicated for her. We can’t be together forever, we will break up eventually, and I’m leaving too. So…”

“I can’t believe this. You broke up with Jessica so we aren’t getting the scooter because you didn’t last 100 days, you are leaving so we can’t get the beach house either. This is crazy,” Austin said.

“What beach house? Do you have a girl?” Micheal teased.

“No, for now!”

“Stan, you did the right thing. And it’s just perfect. We have exams to write, and you are leaving soon anyways so we can spend time quality while we can so your breakup is perfect,” Micheal said.

“Add this too, “and Lina is always studying so I get ditched every time,” that girl is such a nerd,” Austin said, and ran off before Micheal could hit him.
.**
Paulina arrived at school, and was rushing in from the parking lot when she bumped into someone, but t he person kept walking and didn’t look back.

“I’m sorry!” she shouted, and noticed that the woman dropped something.

She picked up the handkerchief and spun around to look for the woman, but she was already out of sight.

“Miss Paulina, did you forget something?” Don asked.

“That woman… I bumped into someone, and she dropped this,”

“You’re late for your exam, you will return it back someday,” he said, and she looked at him.

“Someday?” she muttered, and looked at the handkerchief.

She gasped when she saw the heart symbol knitted there, she knitted that in all the handkerchief her mum had after she learnt how to knit. The handkerchief was obviously not one of the ones she knitted on, but the symbol was just the same.

“Mum,” she muttered, and started looking around.

“Miss Paulina, you are late for class,” Don said, and she nodded. She looked around one last time before she left.
*
Charlotte sat in a car staring at her daughter from afar, she sniffed in silently, and Louis held her hand.

“My poor baby,” she cried.

“You will be able to return to her soon, Charlotte. I’m sure of that,” he assured, and she nodded in tears.

WEEKS LATER***
*
The mid semester exam ended in a week, and Stanley left as planned, but he kept in touch with his friends. Ava refused to go to school, and Paul let her do things her way.

The students arrived at school and few of them started to panic because the results of their last exam was out. They rushed to the board that it was pasted to check thier grades, and Paulina struggled in thier midst to get the front, but it was impossible.

“Are you that impatient?” Micheal whispered in her ear before behind.

“They are just too many people,”

“I’ll dismiss them for you,” he muttered, and she chuckled. “Everyone, step aside!” He shouted, and they all froze to look at him.

“Mike, are you seriously going to check it?” Austij whined.

The students all step aside, while some left and the MASS went forward with Paulina.

“Austin, if you are searching for your name, is at the bottom,” Steven said, and they all laughed expect Austin who grabbed Steven’s collar.

“Let it go man, your parents will be really proud this time,” Micheal teased.

“Not you too!” He shouted.

“Steven, you improved, you made it to top 100,” Micheal said.

“I did better last year,” Steven muttered.

“Oh,” Micheal grumbled.

“Speaking of equality, where is your name Mike? How come they never post your results?” Austin lashed.

“Because I asked them not to. There is no such thing as equality at holland high,” Micheal teased.

“You should have made the MASS an exemption!” Austin blurted.

“A particular person’s father believed that his son will improve if his results are casted like this. But too bad… he hit the bottom,” Michael stated.

“That’s enough, that’s enough,” Austin muttered.

“Oh, Stanley took third place as usual,” Steven said.

“He is the genius at math but he suck at other subjects but always maintain a perfect grade,” Austin exclaimed.

“Jessica is first as usual, and Laura…” Micheal said.

“Laura Jones? I once had a crush on that girl, she is so intelligent,” Austin said.

“She is a nerd. How can you crush on a complete nerd?” Micheal blurted.

“I believe in transition. She will be superb!” Austin said.

“I doubt,” Steven grumbled.

“You should crush on intelligent ladies, it’s good for you. It will help your future gene. I can’t believe you hit bottom at supreme class and overall school,” Micheal teased.

“Will you stop it already?” Austin lashed.

“You should call him to see his result,” Micheal said, and Austin called Stanley who didn’t pickup.

“He must be busy at the farm,” Austin teased, and they all laughed.

“Paulina, Paulina Andrew, this is you,” Steven said, and they all looked at her grade.

“Wow, you made it to top 50!” Austin exclaimed.

“You deserve it, your hard work paid off,” Micheal said, and Paulina walked away.

“Isn’t she excited?” Austin said, and Micheal ran after her.

He held her hand when he caught her

“Let me go,” she muttered

“Was that a bad score?”

“That’s my worst! I have never been that bad,” she muttered, in a sober voice.

“But you did well,”

“No, it was bad. I was searching for my name at the top lists, I didn’t even think of the average. I have never been that bad,”

“You did well, Lina. Your life took a drastic turn , you suddenly transferred to this school, get bullied, tried to fit in, and an entire new teaching system. I don’t know about others, Lina, but I’m proud of you, you did really well because you put in your best,” he said, and embraced her.
*
Some people were not pleased with their results, while some were escalated, few others didn’t bother to check and some were unaffected with thier grades, but at the end, they all accepted their results and moved on to the next phase.
*
*
FEW MONTHS LATER***
*
The school section was already coming to an end and the students started preparing for their final exams that is fast approaching, while others look forward to the exam, few others were preparing for prom dinner.

During the months that passed, Paulina, Paul and Ava have been living in harmony together until Paul insist that Paulina throw a party for her 18th birthday. Paulina protest at first because she has never celebrated her birthday before, but after much persuading, she gave in.

She thought of how to go about the party, and informed Sophie first who introduced her to an event planner.

She planned a small party with just few people, but Ava refuse to attend.
*
Everyone was having fun in the party, and she followed a familiar figure that she saw to the balcony, and it turned out to Ava.

“Ava, I thought you didn’t want to be here,” Paulina said.

“Why? Because it’s your party?”

“What are you getting at?”

“It’s a beautiful party, so you must be happy that you belong now. You must feel like a real elite now,”

“Ava, if you are here to cause troubles, please leave. My friends are here, so don’t start a scene,”

“Your friends? Those friends were all mine! Everything was all mine before you showed up! Everything is mine, you are nothing but a thief!” she shouted, and Paulina laughed.

“Will you be the one to explain to everyone how I stole everything from you? You have been acting well all these while, were you just pretending?”

“You think I’ll accept you as my sister?”

“No. Because I’m the one who needs to accept you. You are the real b@stard leaching off my family!” Paulina shouted, and Ava slapped her, and they started pulling each other’s hair.

“Everything will be over if you are gone!” Ava shouted, and wanted to push her down the balcony.

“No, no, Ava, no,” Paulina muttered, struggling with her.

“I won’t have to share anything when you are gone, because everything was mine from the stat!” She shouted.
*
Paulina’s friends were having fun at the party when they suddenly hear a loud cry.

“Noooooooo….”

“What’s that?” They shouted, and traced the voice to the balcony.
