FLASHBACK continues***

Celia opened her eyes the following morning and was welcomed by a striking headache. She shut her eyes back and groan softly before opening them gently, and started scanning her environment.

She looked around confused as her head was blank —she wasn’t in her dorm, and the room was unfamiliar.

She removed the blanket from her body and was startled to meet herself n@ked.

“What? What happened to me?” she almost shouted, and the memories started flooding in like they were waiting for her to panic,
“I can’t believe I was almost rap£d by George, and narrowly escaped to have a careless nightstand with a random stranger, Mr. Dragon,” she grumbled in disbelief.

Giving away her virginity to a random nightstand that she can’t even see him face was beyond her weirdest imagination.

She went to freshen up and hurried out of the place heading straight to school when she remembered her morning test.

She got to her department and all eyes fell on her, few of her classmates steal disgusting glances at her while many grumbled words silently, pointing fingers at her.

She looked at her face with her phone screen wondering if she left rheum on her face when she saw her boyfriend approaching her.

She composed herself ready to lash at him and breakup with him officially in the presence of everyone.

“You disgust me,” he blurted when he got closer to her.

“Nah. I should be the one saying that, you disgust me! You are a shameless impudent son of a bltch!” she cursed, and he chuckled.

“I expected that much. You must’ve been prepared to breakup with me seeing that you carelessly had a nightstand!” he blurted, and she gasped, wondering how he knew.

“What…” she slurred, already panicking.

“It’s over between us. I made it official,” with that, he turned to leave.

“What… what… that’s my line, I was supposed to say that,” she grumbled, staring at his retreating back, and she scanned the room, feeling all eyes on her.

She inhaled deeply and clenched her fists with determination to fight back. She refused to let him have the last words. He was the cheater, he was the one who cheated on her first and that nightstand… it wasn’t intentional

“Yay!” she shouted, and threw her bag at him.

“What? Are you crazy?!” he lashed.

“Yes, I’m crazy, I’m crazy because I was totally f00led by you, and here you are playing the victim card! You cheated on me with Victoria, you’ve been two-timing all these while, you cheating son of a bltch! And yes, I had a nightstand, I had that nightstand befcause I was crazy, I was crazy enough to show a stranger what’s underneath my hoodie, what you’ve been dating me for all along! I end it, I’m the one who breakup with you. I dumped you! I’m the one who did it! So don’t you dare act all high and mighty like you’re some saint!” she yelled, and the attention of those around drifted to her.
*
She went to the cafeteria in shame and empty the bottle of water that Naomi, her colleague and friend from the cafeteria offered her— unlike her, Naomi is a full-time employee, and slso 20 years older than her.

“Why’d you do that to begin with?” Naomi scolded, and yawned loudly.

“That worked. What did I do? Breakup with him?”

“Not that!”

“The nightstand?”

“Not that either! Why did you start that scene! It’s all over the internet,”

“I know, and I’m screwed. Many people don’t even know who I was lashing at. I appeared like the crazy woman I claimed to be,”

“You should’ve let him leave quietly,”

“After humiliating me?!”

“We both know that it wili dle down in few days, compared to this. This will last an eternity! Tyler has a good reputation, he is popular, but you…”

“I’m just a crazy 19-year-old girl that will be dragged for this for the rest of my life. But I refuse to regret it. So, now will you stop adding insult to my injury?”

“What will you do now?”

“I don’t know. But I’m not going to class today,”

“Of course, you can’t,”

“I know. I shouldn’t even dare show my face there till the semester is over, till this session is over…”

“And your scholarship?”

“But I can’t afford it! I can’t afford to skip school, I can’t afford a bad record, I can’t afford my tuition, so I can’t afford to run away! I have to overcome this somehow,”

“How?”

“I don’t know,” she cried, “I can’t even afford to skip school today. I already missed my test, so I have to go to the professor’s office. I have to plead with him till he agreed to arrange another test for me. I can’t afford to do anything….” she cried, and Naomi embraced her.

“Oh, poor dear. How did they even find out about the nightstand?” Naomi grumbled, patting her hair.

Celia pulled away from the embrace immediately and looked at Naomi.

“What?” Naomi asked, almost in a whisper.

“Your charger,”

“My charger?”

“Yes. I need to charge my phone. It has been out of charge since last night,”

“Oh.., oh, yeah. My charger,”Naomi stuttered, and gave it to her, wondering what led to that.

“I need to see the pictures of me they posted in my school group,” she said, and plugged in her phone.

“Yes, you should…” Naomi slurred.

Celia’s phone went on, and the multiple debit alert that she received from her bank didn’t even let her see the group messsge.

“What? Debit! Debit! Debitttttttt!” she screamed, startling Naomi.

“What? What? What is it?” Naomi asked in fear.

“It’s gone… all my money, my tuition… everything…”

“How? Did someone hacked your account?”

“It wasn’t hacked, I was robbed,” she muttered, and tears flowed freely down her face.

“Robbed…” Naomi grumbled, confused on what to say.
*
Celia returned to her dorm and broke down in tears thinking of a way to raise money for her tuition.

All her live, she has always hidden any money she saved up, not from an outsider but an insider thief— her father.

Her father always break her piggy bags, beat her up to collect her money, and also beat her up whenever he finds no money. But now, he went as far as stealing her card.

She always keeps her card behind her pouch so she believed that he stole it when she visited her at the convenience store.

He suddenly visited which was unlike him, and he borrowed her phone to make a call while she attended to a customer. He knew her card pin, so everything was easy for him.
.
“Why dad? Why did you do this to me…” she cried.

She took her phone to call him but the call sent her to voice mail so she sent a heinous message to him instead. At that point, she was willing to cut all ties with him.

He has been a threat to her success since she was a child but she couldn’t cut tiles with him because he was her only family. But at that imstant, she was willing to cut off every obstacles from her way. Be it her father, or her only family.
*
She woke up late in the evening, and took her phone to see several missed calls from the places she works part-time. She didn’t even have any intention of going to work after working endlessly to raise her tuition, and couldn’t even save it.

Thinking of how to raise enough money again before her tuition deadline brought years to her eyes because it’s highly impossible.

She was already at the endpoint of her education, and her live. She only had her breath left.
*
She stepped out to get water from the neighboring building because her house hadn’t had for the past weeks and the landlord aren’t doing anything about it. Many students moved out, but she stayed because the rent was fair.

After filling her pails, she was heading back to her dorm when three men blocked her path. She was quick to know that they weren’t there to help with the water.

“Celia Bennett?” man 1 said, and she nodded.

“If you’ll excuse me, this is heavy,” she said, gesturing at the pail.

“Our return won’t be this friendly. We’ll give you two days to clear off the debts, or we return to take off all your organs,” man 2 threatened.

“What debts?” she snapped, and dropped the pails of water.

She might have been struggling a lot, but she never borrowed money from anyone. She can boldly say that she was never indebted to anyone.

“Your father, Paul Bennett is owing us,” man 3 said, showing her a document — as expected, her father was always pursed by loan sharks.

“I don’t know him anymore, I cut ties with him,” she blurted, and the men chuckled.

“Hey, I’m going easy on you because you’re pretty. Don’t get in my bad side. I’ll sell off all the organs in your body to clear the debts if you don’t bring your father or my money. You’ve just two days,” man 1 threatened.

“If I bring my father, you can take his organ instead, right?” she asked, and they gave her a confused look.

“He is the one owing,” Man 2 blurted.

“Good. So… can I borrow to his tab? You can take his head along for all I care. I really need money to pay for my tuition,” she cried, and they looked at her perplexed.
